It's sort of a novelty. Although it might have some marginal usefulness IRL for debriefing/watching things explode from a different angle :D The most interesting uses, IMHO, are in CCIP mode while bombing (not dive bombing...). But it doesn't bring anything to the table in that regard that other systems can't do better

There's always something new to learn with the a10! Keeps me coming back year after year :)
-
Also wanted to point something out: if you do this in CCIP master mode it won't link the SPI to the gun cross but it will link it to the rocket or bomb pipper. Very fun to play with!
-
It's possible to slave the TGP to the pipper in guns master mode (but not the gun cross in CCIP master mode). Follow the directions in that thread and it'll work: TMS aft short with HUD as SOI (in guns mode) makes the IFFCC gun solution the SPI. You can then slave the TGP (or maverick, etc.) to SPI Note that there's a longstanding bug that has the SPI co-located with the lower dot in the pipper (the one representing the HEI rounds point of impact). So at really long slant ranges (where the TGP might actually be useful) the SPI will be a bit low

How does A10C know windage at a waypoint?
SmokeyTheLung replied to camsr's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Also, the IFFCC calculates real time, current wind and temperature info. This is what's displayed on the CDU waypoint page for instance. -
likewise! :crash:

Why do I get a warning when Radar Altimeter is disabled?
SmokeyTheLung replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
A shot in the dark: GCAS warnings may be generated with the digital terrain map data (same information that drives CCIP solutions). Maybe the radar altimeter info is also used but I'm not sure -

Thanks Eddie -
Sorry, I missed your post. Thank you! It turned out quite well. Hard to go wrong with a tele, although I'm more of a strat guy myself :D Gotta have that tremolo!
-
Won't work in the game. You can launch it at a tank without lock though :D
-
Playing with a competitive mindset, it's pretty hard to overlook the availability of rockets for the mustangs. Even though I'm loving the Dora, I find myself jumping in a mustang most of the time on your server. It's so much easier to kill ground targets or attack the enemy airbase when you have rockets at your disposal (IMHO) Maybe that's having some affect on the balance of Dora/mustang pilots? Love the server, btw! :)

Make sure you're uncomfortably close when you start firing :D Outside of 1 mile, you won't do much damage. If you get really close, maybe .2-.1 miles, you'll only need a handful of rounds to kill a tank. Good luck not getting shot though :P Edit: sniped! Classic move viper :-P

Seems like a bug. Most people I fly with are having the same issue
-
Thanks SiTh, would be a pretty cool addition to the sim

Not a joke. Admittedly, my wording could have been better; ED has modeled impact fuses since the early days. It's the airburst/delay etc. fuses that are missing and have often been requested over the years. It's my understanding that they are on the to-do list for ED.
-
Unfortunately ED has yet to tackle fusing for iron bombs. It's apparently been on their list for years, so hopefully they'll eventually get to it.
-
That's how it works; the A-10 has a elevation map stored that gets used in conjunction with other aircraft sensor information to tell you where the bullets will land
-
Classy move
-
Agreed. I guess the current system allows ED to save a few bucks giving away p-51 keys they've already paid for... I'm assuming developers have to pay for software keys to distribute their products (?)... It's a bit lame but life goes on It's definitely great that the project will continue, despite a change in management!
-
If it's coded anything like the A-10c module this probably won't be a problem. With the A-10c you can change the ammo type to an entirely different caliber and the "ballistics computer" (aka: the game engine) will accurately calculate the aiming solution. Although the DCS KA-50 may behave differently. I plead guilty to having created a flying, seven barreled, rotary cannon version of the 120mm smoothbore gun :D The recoil was a bit much but the gun pipper worked just fine iirc :)
-
Would it be of any benefit to you if a backer were to forfeit physical rewards in exchange for game keys? I'd be happy to do so if it made life easier for the team (I don't care much about the physical rewards anyways, I just want to fly the damn thing :D )

So far so good with FSX. No crashes tonight!
-
This worked, thanks!

Checking on that now. Thanks! I just copied the mod over from 1.2.7 via JSGME so I'm both surprised and not so surprised that I managed to screw it up :D
