  1. Try using alt-tab to cycle to your desktop and back. That always works for me.
  2. It was uploaded to the user files section of the DCS website recently: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/421087/
  3. It would be cool if they add that feature. I'll have to disagree with you on the last pont though, trimming the AC prior to firing or getting used to adjusting the stick when you start firing is the only solution right now. How do you suppose A-10 pilots handled the recoil prior to the PAC system?
  4. If you look on the canopy bow you'll see the PAC switch (precision attitude control) is in the off position. That's the system that deals with recoil compensation. Next time you fire the gun, try to push the stick slightly forward the instant you start firing. I've found that the gun is quit controllable that way. (You don't need to over control, just a slight push forward exactly as the gun starts firing that you'd hold until you're finished shooting)
  5. I wouldn't mind giving it a read, if you're willing to share it
  6. Might as well bomb this thread with a few pics as well. Here are some shots of some current projects: Experimenting with the vacuum bag. Lattice bracing installed, carved and almost fully voiced. Binding in progress Possibly the most over the top truss rod cover I've ever made! Shot of a new rosette design (based largely on an existing design from one of my favorite builders). Also, my new label design (definitely a WIP as the kerning is way off) Guitars, guitars, guitars... They have cast a spell on me :D
  7. So glad you did :) I love this thread! Nice work on the cabinet, is that a particle board you're using?
  8. The only times I've had major troubles getting an engine restarted after repair is when I had previously set the engine fuel flow from normal to override (in flight). Afaik, using fuel flow override for either the right or left engine (perhaps to keep it alive after minor damage) basically rules out repair when you land. I've always been forced to grab a new plane in that circumstance. I think this is probably a bug but maybe I'm doing something wrong. With other types of engine failure (where I wasn't using fuel flow override to RTB) I've had no problems getting the engines back up and running. Hope that helps.
  9. Awesome update! Nevada is looking amazing!
  10. Had the same question myself a few years back. Apparently, when testing mavericks, a datalink (or something capable of sending the video after launch) can be added. Whatever equptment that might be is not a feature of normal mavericks. I have no idea about laser guided bombs, but I'd imagine that the "image" the seeker sees wouldn't be something a person could make much sense of. I'd love to see the video in question!
  11. Wow! Awesome news!!!
  12. Maybe but I don't think so. I know the D.U. portion of the round is sub-caliber and encased in a softer metal jacket. Also, the GAU-8 rounds use a plastic (I think) driving band to reduce barrel wear. I've always figured HEI is loaded to destroy more sensitive and un-armored parts of tanks, like sights and radio equipment. I suppose it also makes an A-10 more effective if it encounters something softer than a well armoured vehicle
  13. I'm probably stating the obvious here, so apologies if you've already noticed: The axis window scrolls horizontally, trackir (iirc) is all the way on the right
  14. In the real A-10 it: "Selects the altitude source to be used for CCIP/CCRP TDC generation, INS HUD and overhead updates, offset, and overhead marks elevation computations." Choices for altitude source are: barometric, delta or radar
  15. About time :P Seriously; good to hear, looking forward to being able to coordinate again
  16. All of the relevant units need to be in the same group. I don't think the names matter. One of the few default templates that comes with the DCS mission editor is an S-300 site. Try placing that template and check out how it's structured
  17. You probably wouldn't even need that long. Try a steep high altitude dive in CCIP mode. Get the pipper on something and hit active pause. Now enter some really large values for the wind layers and see if the pipper moves
  18. Number 1 priority for sales should be making the company more profitable... Clearly Wags and company want to build these amazing simulations a la A-10c but they need to do so in a way that keeps them in business (hopefully a way that rewards them for their efforts as well). I think you need to consider the fact that only a handful of products like the one you demand have been completed in the last 20 years...
  19. Indeed! I hope ED finds a way to make enough money with this entry level stuff to fund more "full fidelity" stuff
  20. Remember that High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warheads are not the same as High Explosive (HE) warheads. The former uses high explosives to direct energy to a small single point (and therefore cut through armor). The latter uses high explosives for it's blast/fragmentation effect (in an omni-directional way). I'm not suggesting that a HEAT round wouldn't screw up a Huey's day but I'd guess it probably wouldn't rip it to shreds
  21. Unfortunately you cannot. However, you can eject from the P-51 (and the other DCS aircraft) and walk around.
  22. A quick report on 1.2.4: I ended up doing a full reinstall after I discovered the auto-updater was going to take 20ish hours. I finally got the torrent downloaded and fired up DCS to be greeted with very smooth performance. Thanks ED team/testers!
  23. First impression: I love this death trap!
