  1. That's the one. It works in most camera-views, but not when you are in Object Free Camera.
  2. Could we get an axis-command/control for Zoom when in "Free Camera" mode?
  3. Could you please make it possible to enable "Lock View (Cycle Padlock)" while in "Object Free Camera" mode. This would be great for cinematic shots on and around the carrier of jets passing etc, and of course a whole host of other cinematic shots.
  4. Yeah, I haven't found a "definitve" (personal) answer/preference to this. With zero crosswind and high windspeed, the final turn can be a bit lopsided. F.ex. this one: 30kts wind, zero crosswind. Constant bankangel throughout the turn (more or less). Most of the turn occurs just before entering the groove. Which can seem a bit unsettling during the turn, but it works out just fine, regardless. (I don't really know where Im going with this, I just wanted to hear you folks' thoughts on the matter) Some knots of starboard crosswind seems to be preferable.
  5. Ideally, is the point to have as little crosswind as possible? Or is there a general acceptable range?
  6. Heheh yeah I switched from Steam-DCS to standalone some months ago, I must have forgotten to upgrade to openbeta (and somehow not noticed)
  7. Yeah, turns out I have been playing stable version, without knowing it I have no idea how that happened, it used to be openbeta.
  8. Is there a new wake? or is this a mod? My DCS is up to date, but I can't see that the wake has changed in the last couple of months(or more)
  9. Hey Rudel Long time, I'm still messing around with cockpit-triggers:p Yeah, it takes a lot of time to set them up. I have a notepad with all the triggers, and the different values for the triggers, to make the process as easy as possible, or I reuse/repurpose a previously made missionfile. I'm pretty sure you all have the same methods, or even better ones. Regardless, it's still a bit of a hassle. Having the possibilty to save triggers, and groupes of triggers, as templates would be incredibly handy:) As you both mentioned, triggers are usually tied to triggers-zones, units and conditions. However, I'm pretty sure it would be possible to make it so that these aspects are "blanked" when you save a trigger/groupe. So that when you load a templete, the various ties to zones, units and conditions have to be filled in. Or, that all the data is saved in the templete, they're just not tied to anything, so you have to edit what they should be tied to.
  10. It would great with a save and load function for triggers and lists of triggers. If this isn't allready possible. The only way I've found is that you could take the triggers out of the missionfile.
  11. Hey @Bankler Is there any particular reason to why the EI-clock is reset at 5 sec in, so that it's 5 sec behind the in-world-clock?
  12. You could do that, but there's no need, just start the turn when the Tacan-symbol on the HSI is aligned with the D or E in MODE.
  13. What's the ship speed, and wind speed? For simple/easy training, set the shipspeed to 20, and no wind. You might be flying very light, that will give you a slightly lower airspeed. Good trap-weight is 33.000lbs (it's the max trap/groove weight, I believe) As Foka said, you might be starting the approach-turn too late.
  14. Or, you can just extend the flaps It will look great for AAR Edit: wrote gear instead of flaps
  15. Unless ED has changed something: this doesn't work too well with Tacan. The TOD will put you 4k-6k feet above the tacan, the height varies from map to map, I don't know why. I asked ED about this, but didn't get a clear answar as to why there was this variation. For Waypoints it works just fine Keeping any particular speed isn't necessary, this can be done at any speed. But, for fuel-economy, it's best to put the throttle at flight-idle. -10 degrees is sufficient enough to keep the Hornet at a good speed, regardless of how heavy it is loaded.
  16. Thanks! It would be great to have an external mouse-axis-listing, and an internal/cockpit mouse-axis-listing
  17. I've looked around, but found no working approach. Is there any way of inverting the mouse-axis for external-view? Without affecting cockpit-view.
  18. Were you thinking of this thread?

  20. Probably that the Course Select for Tacan changes when you switch between magnetic heading and true heading.
  21. That could absolutly be the case. I just do whatever is needed to be on-speed and ready before I'm abeam I find that (as most others do to, I'm sure) if the windspeed at sealevel is 15 or above, the Hornet doesn't sufficiently slow down before I start on the downwind leg. Unless, of course, you fancy starting the break 1,2 - 1,5nm upwind of the carrier. I prefere starting the break as early as possible.
  22. If you fly steady level downwind, then drop the flaps at 9 degrees AoA. If you're in a turn, then the balooing should just give you a sharper turn. If altitude starts to increase, just increase the bank angel to direct the ballooning horizontally. Additinally, you can always hold-open the speedbrake. You'll have to hold the button in, since once the flaps start deploying, the speedbrake is retracted.
  23. Try doing the whole approach at a lower altitude. I dont remember the numbers for land/shore-landings, but Im pretty sure it is much lower. Maybe 1200' at overhead, and 800' at baseturn. Starting the baseturn at 1600' would make a "textbook-landing" troublesome to pull off The high-AoA during the baseturn, and balloning at the start of the final, stems from too much altitude and too much bank during the baseturn. A typical landing would look much more boring:p Your landing was more of an airshow-landing, which you pulled off nicely
  24. This happens all the time for me. Seems like a bug. I press hold (via keyboard): and sometimes it holds, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it lags, sometimes not. It's been like this for a year or so, not sure why it happens.
