I don't know :) here is another pic, maybe it is visible better here if it is 3.1

Wanted to dig this one up since this picture was a loadout in 2008 in operation enduring freedom with bomb on centerline: belongs here: http://warthogcombatloadouts.blogspot.com/2008/10/operation-enduring-freedom-combat.html

4) also switches off when you change power source, ie when you get engine generator power on start up.

Subscription is also not fair because in the way it is put here, I get punished for being an early customer. If I wait out before three modules are out the door I can get them all three for their base price at the fidelity of the third one. This then does not seem a good model because people will actually wait. Instead you should look for ways to convince people to commit early, while the iron is still hot. Then there is the issue of having to take into account backward compatibility for everything you make which might limit your options. You obligate yourself to keep upgrading everything you have made and suppose you run into a technical impossibility and it is not feasible to keep upgrading say FC2, then you have a big big problem with all your subscribers who paid. What if a big delay happens of 6 months? Must feel like a rip-off for the subscribers. This is a bad idea.

I do not think the slew control is that low quality. Both axes have 1024 possible readouts and it has HAL sensors like the rest of the axes. Once you get the hang of it, it is very precise. Yes, the real a-10 has the same slew control as you see in that video. You can call it a marketing trick, and since we are high-involved consumer group, we are susceptible to cool specifications that do not really matter but the fact of the matter is that no producer has brought an equal controller on the market for less. If there are no alternatives you can hardly blame the consumer for buying what he can. From the producer perspective, how many less people would buy it if it was 50 bucks more? Or 100? Or maybe 2 or 300? Would it then still be profitable to make it? As Bucic puts it now, there would be a huge gap in the market to fill up by someone who can develop a high-quality product for the same price and still be profitable. Then why is it not happening? Why is nobody standing up and obliterating the established stick manufacturers with products of superior quality but equal pricing? Something to think about. Because in the global economy of today, if there is a profit oppurtunity, you can be damn sure that somebody pursues it especially if it is so straightforward as suggested here. http://papernyfilms.com/store#ecwid:category=0&mode=product&product=363167

** Strategies on how to look for targets with the TGP??**
Geskes replied to JEFX's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I guess it is also supposed to be hard. Just read a passage of flying the A-10 in the gulf war. They didnt have TGP yet and used mav cam at night. The pilots compare it too finding threats while closing one eye and then looking trough a straw with your single open eye. For scanning areas, I guess it is best to use the classic spotting method also used by ground troops. Just divide the area in imaginary bands and keep scanning them from near to far. Altitude obviously gives better field of view. Haven't given it much thought as to what would be the ideal search pattern but I do know that having a pattern is better then just some random slewing. It ensures equal attention to every part of the area and thus you make sure nothing is overlooked. -
Questions for real fighter pilots (if any here)
Geskes replied to Pirke77's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Fighter pilots might not tell you much here but they do write books :) I recommend this book if you want to get into Air Combat Maneuvring: "Fighter Combat: Tactics and Maneuvring" by Robert L. Shaw. It goes into depth on ACM, also on missile offense and defense. You can get it on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Fighter-Combat-Maneuvering-Robert-Shaw/dp/0870210599/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_1 I also attach a public US NAVY document about air combat maneuvring which I have pulled off a navy publication site and found a good read also. It is kind of like lecture material in slide form for use in the class-room. Covers both WVR and BVR and even has questions to test your understanding of the material! USN ACM Guide.pdf -
How I broke my HOTAS in under 30 minutes...
Geskes replied to AJ.eightFive's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
About the same thing happened to a squad buddy of mine who sat down in his chair and accidentally his clothing got stuck behind one of the buttons twisting the stick and breaking the plastic cups inside. He made pictures of the damage inside and sent them to TM. He could send it in for replacement even though he had been honest about what caused it. -
I'll take it to the next level :D

What is this manuever called??

You have got to be kidding me..

He is talking from ED perspective not ours.

What exactly is there to be sad about?? Odd. The only people I can see agreeing with that is people that are not passionate flight-simmers anyway. If you are a true flight-simmer you'll embrace anything you can get your hands on. If it is about the need for pew-pew, well you can also do that in the same planes. Checked out the Russian A-10 skin yet? It looks pretty awesome :D

says who? Luke Skywalker is fiction AFAIK.

What Mower is trying to say is that we expect you to be eager to learn, also by yourself and that we do not offer a full training program starting from scratch. We are not going to sit with you and learn you to ramp. But if you are doing a ramp and run into something you will not get hammered for just asking questions. We have a set of LIFT flights already finalized in which we fly with you and explain you how we usually fly and where you can demonstrate your skills. As long as you are able to take-off and land and know something about systems and weapons deployment, which I think is not an odd thing to expect from someone registering for a online squadron, you will be good. The LIFTs are not designed to be an evaluation or a test/exam like thing. *LIFT flights cannot be failed*. It is more a familiarization with the 1stVFW way of flying. It is to ensure a basic level for all active pilots in the squadron and everybody talking the same language. After the LIFTs you are a full member. There are no other selection criteria except for age, you have to be an adult, and we expect you to treat everyone with respect regardless of their beliefs and views of the world. We are a very international squad so that last one is probably an important one to note. The fact that you are posting on this forum and also purchased a Warthog signals to me that you are pretty serious in your hobby so why not bring us a visit ? :) PS, you also need to be able to tolerate Mower around. A lot. :D

The top menu also works, you just have to click at the utmost lower part of the buttons.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Geskes replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Oh yes its gonna be the Globemaster. Finally!! -
Must agree. Creating static templates is very work intensive, you need to constantly check how everything is lined up. But I am turned down more by the errors introduced in beta 4 that disallow the effective use of systems, like the TGP diamond hovering, Datalinked coordinates between flight members hovering etc. Was flying one of Grebs mission yesterday with a buddy. Was a convoy ambush and enemy infantry was all around town. We got coords from JTAC but of course you couldn't put the diamond on it for strafe and had to visually acquire first.

If the idea is compassion, at least the title of this thread needs to be renamed. Its pure torture everytime you visit the forum its on top.. Just call it: Beta 6: DONE when it's DONE

/on-topic Dear Wags, ED Team, As the CO of a squadron of very eager (v) Hog pilots I need to ask the question right on. The new code was planned to be tested this weekend and if all well would be released this week. We learned from the Russian forums that problems were encountered. To stop my pilots from refreshing the download page every minute and get them back to flying: Is the new beta still slated for release this week or will we have to wait a bit more? In any case you have our support  Regards from 25th Draggins 1st Virtual Fighter Wing

I just read that in Belgium, since the negotiation of a new government is taking ages, some women have called for the negotiator's wives to not have sexual intercourse untill a new government is there. Apparently it was an idea from Kenia, where they had the same problem and after this no-sex call there was a government within a week. So maybe, if you really can't take it anymore, you need to consider involving the wives of the developers :D

1. Hold one of the bottom MFD buttons for a couple of seconds. A menu will appear. 2. Select the function you want to load. 3. Press the bottom MFD button you want to load it on. 4. Done.

Scenario # 1, nothing serious. Scenario # 2, select airbase as waypoint and navigate with HSI which will show range and direction to the waypoint. Your flying in a canyon to hide from a SA-15 Tor. When you are just about to make a left turn following the river you see a missile indication at two o'clock. An IR sam system but you do not know what type obviously. You can easily evade this first shot by hopping over the canyon wall straight ahead but then you are in reach for the Tor. What whould you do? Choose to fly by the IR system of possibly any type from manpads to sa-13 in the narrow canyon or go against the Tor.
