  1. No vehicle modeling necessary, they can give you a 360 panable view on top of an AI vehicle. Since you can control waypoints for AI units, you can more or less control where you as JTAC are going.
  2. What I would like to see is an option in the store: Purchase as gift. Then I enter the user name I want to gift to and its done or in case user does not have account I can enter his email and he gets an email with a code he uses to create a new account and product will be there after his account creation.
  3. I agree. Then again, with good view system you can come a long way. As an example, the top 5 online competitors in Rise of Flight, which is nearly only dogfighting, do NOT use TIR.
  4. I would GLADLY accept a woman that you cab switch off just by talking about airplanes :D Most women I meet dont have an off switch at all.. they just keep on bitchin..
  5. Of course, I mean it in the sense that I would not like sacrificing on the elements that make a hardcore sim to get better graphics.. Better graphics of course add to realism and a lot to immersion, but it is only one element.
  6. I was typing a response in the other thread but they closed the door on me! :P There are so many threads like this on revolutionary fantasy engines but they all forget that the sim developers also want the best engine. The difference is that they DO know the constraints they are working with and we DON'T. How can you say DCS graphics are sooo bad? Ever looked at some of the models? They are downright the best you can get anywhere in any simulator available. So much detail. These threads always sound like ED has no clue on how to improve the engine and then some suggestions are made that usually are totally unrealistic. I always wonder what you guys are trying to achieve with discussions like this. Seriously, not trying to offend anyone, but what is the purpose? Please let me know. It is nice to fantasize about the future of flight sims, of course, what simmer doesn't want the ultimate realistic experience. As it stands now, DCS is the ultimate experience of hardcore modern combat simming and it is only getting better and better. EDGE, DCS Fighter, Flying Legend, Combined Arms. Hardcore sims have always had worse graphics then mainstream games and for good reason. Better graphics means less fidelity, you cannot give that up for some eye candy if you claim to make hardcore sims. Graphics are not the main selling point of hardcore sims. We want realism, flight models, weapons, dynamic weather, AI, avionics, damage modeling, huge maps for hour long missions etc. The scope of the engine is entirely different for a hardcore sim. Eye candy, at least to me, is only a bonus. PS, did you guys check any nevada shots yet? ;)
  7. certainly looks nice but the viewing distance is very short. From what I've seen of Nevada, that will be a big improvement.
  8. Brilliant idea! +1 I wonder why nobody came up with this before. But if ED is really smart, they wait for arma 3 engine and license that. That would be even better, don't you think?!
  9. There is a whole series of these ridealong videos. http://www.airshowstuff.com/ridealong.htm migs, phantom, mustang etc.
  10. Found this on youtube, pretty amazing. Don't know if it was posted before but here it goes:
  11. check the take-off roll of f/a-18 in this video starting from 4:05.
  12. Well, when I first bought BS, I didn't have pedals either. But that changed after about two days. Maybe there are people around though that fly BS without pedals that could comment because my crap flying at that time was also related to the fact that I didn't understand the trim system yet.
  13. Does that question mean you do not have pedals? Because without pedals it will be hard to fly. Rudder is seperate control for the yaw axis just as in aircraft like A-10 so not tied in with bank control. But in A-10 you hardly ever use it, in the chopper you use it a lot.
  14. I fly BS2 with the tm warthog. I find it very good for bs2 and mainly because it is very accurate. For collective you can make very smooth adjustments which helps a lot and is really necessary when flying the chopper. Also the tm warthog is plug and play with bs2 (though not everything is mapped, you can add yourself)
  15. In the beta you were just along for the ride, although you could also set waypoints and fire missions for the vehicles in real-time if you were in the commander position (IIRC that function for controlling units was commander or something)
  16. Just include pdf with the pictures with the mission so pilots can check that and even print it.
  17. Another sale just started. It's not been anounced yet, I was browsing the store and upon refreshing the page everything just plummeted in price all of the sudden. In the store there is a message it will last from 24-28 of november. ...Completed my hangar. :D
  18. Drink less margaritas. It helps :)
  19. Because Olgerd just posted the wavelengths here :P
  20. I also have a pretty good understanding of what come out of a laser, and it is light, usually of a single wavelength. But lasers are not necessarily in the IR spectrum, if they were you weren't able to see any of them, also not the cool ones they use in clubs. The fact that the beam reflects alone doesnt make it visible by NVG's, they need to be able to detect that particular wavelength. If you make the particles in the air large enough (eg. smoke), you can also see the beam of a normal red/green visible laser, but if you cannot detect the wavelength the laser is operating in with the device (nvg/mk1) , you cannot see the beam nor the reflection of the dot.
  21. In those movies maybe IR pointer was also used
  22. Yes, of course. NVG's. ;)
  23. No the laser is not IR, the IR beam is IR. Lasers can be of different wavelength and the laser of the TGP is of a wavelength that human eye cannot see.
  24. I would do this with two continuous triggers Continuous > Unit Alive AND flag 1 false > message "taking fire" AND set flag 1 true Continuous > Time since flag 1 (60) > set flag 1 false First trigger checks if unit is still alive and if flag is false. If flag false it will display message and set flag 1 true. The second trigger will then turn the flag off again after 60 seconds which will trigger the first trigger again. To control when it starts set flag 1 true at mission start and make it false once you want the messaging to start.
  25. AFAIK you can directly type in coordinates in L/L format in PVI. From manual : “ВВОД” = Edit waypoint. This function allows you to enter waypoint coordinates, wind conditions, and other data. To do so:  Select EDIT  Press “ППМ” and the small upper window will display the total number of waypoints currently stored.  Press 1 – 6 on the keypad to select the desired waypoint number and the current waypoint coordinates will be displayed.  Using the keypad, enter new coordinates for the selected waypoint. Note that you should indicate N/S or E/W prior to entering the coordinate. To make the coordinate positive, press the 0 key first; to make the coordinate negative, press the 1 key first. When set to negative, a “-“ symbol will appear left of the coordinate.  After the coordinate has been entered, press the ENTER button. Or, you may press CANCEL to clear the data on the display.
