Respectfully disagree on that one. The useless functionality (for us) is the ground crew stuff which is mostly non functional in sim. All the rest is super cool stuff. waypoint and flightplan management is the most obvious one but there is more. Play around with offset page for example. It allows you to enter a reference point (waypoint, bullseye, whatever you like) and then a secondary point and it will give you heading and distance between the two. This you can use for example to determine egress heading from an attack run toward the next waypoint. You'll know what heading to turn to exactly in advance. The best part is that it also works the other way. So if you input the bullseye as the reference and then enter a heading and distance in HHHDDD format it will actually give you the coordinates and you can store them as a waypoint. Now thats handy for bullseye calls to keep track of OPFOR positions called out by AI. Then if you know where they are moving, you can enter that heading from the new waypoint and estimate how far they will travel while enroute, make a waypoint from that, put these in a flightplan and there you have a line on the TAD that indicates your search area. Also the time page is nice. Suppose you get delayed because of buggy AI ground traffic ;) and your mission timing is off. Put in this page the time delay and you have an actual schedule again. Negative values allowed. :D I agree though that the CDU chapter can be confusing, it doesnt list practical procedures, it is a summing up of every button function on every screen. Its use is not discussed. Be creative and you'll find use for that thing. PS the tooltips for the CDU are dynamic, I found them to be more helpful in delving into the thing then the actual CDU chapter. Read the chapter briefly, then just go check out the tooltips.

Too bad you skipped the last patch then because it offered both a very nice improvement AND 64 bit Track IR support. :P

Now that is interesting.

Just to put my 2 cents in.. Squad servers are PW protected because you want to keep your well-prepped and briefed missions from going south. Most of the squads are serious groups who want to fly in a somewhat realistic environment, this will not work if you have guys popping in and out at will and not being on comms. Not saying this goes for every pilot but the simple fact is that you have no control over who enters and when someone decides to go renegade. Compare it to a game of soccer, how would you feel if you were playing a match and all of the sudden a supporter runs into the field and starts kicking the ball off field, starts insulting your team members, then disables two of them by brutally tackling them and leaving them helplessly injured and then running off again because he decided he didnt like the match that much anyways or he had only 5 minutes to play :D On the other hand, I dont think there are many squads that would deny you an opportunity to fly around with them and see what is going on if you say hello on their forums and state your intentions. Personally I cannot really enjoy flying on public servers mostly because of lacking comms but it depends very much on mission design. I do agree that it might seem daunting to make the step to join a squad because you may think you are a casual player but it is only a matter then of finding the right squad for you. Mature squads (like mine :)) understand that people have lives. Wives, kids, jobs, other hobbies, you name it. The advantage of a squad if you are casual pilot or just have a busy life and do not fly long periods of time is that you can actually plan flights in your schedule. You can agree with another pilot lets fly Monday at 1900 for 1 hour, you can agree on what you will do in that hour and then do it. If you happen to have some extra time you can just hop on TS and see who is there. IMO that is much more efficient then browsing the online servers to try and find a good one and continuously getting frustrated because there are no servers up to your liking or there is a lack of public servers in general. If you like flightsimming and you have experienced your first multiplayer flight with good comms you will never want go back. As far as missions go.. If you put them up on the forum, how can you be upset about someone hosting it? I saw my missions hosted a couple of times on servers and it actually made me feel good instead of bad because I put the mission up for people to have fun with it in the first place. So seeing them hosted confirms I must have at least somewhat achieved that objective. Can imagine you'd like some credit for your work, as said put your name and adress in the briefing and hope for some valentine cards in three weeks

I have been seeing this timeout quite often lately (in Warthog), with different hosters with our wing. now I see this solution. Is there anyone who could provide a stock network.cfg? I never edited mine but now I figure it might be corrupted regardless.

TARS is free and increases multiplayer immersion about tenfold. If you are looking for a squad to enjoy TARS look no further but here: http://www.firstfighterwing.com :D

You must agree with me that in the first part she makes all kinds of unfounded claims about people intending to take over the world in a big food scheme. How does she know this? Where can I check these allegations? Nowhere! It is mere speculation. I checked on comex website in holland and nowhere in the meat stuff it says I need to use hormones to be able to offer it as food. Also no sign of the irradiation. So how does she know this? Just give me a credible source of these allegations and before that I can do no other then discard all these allegations about taking over the world as mere speculation.
-
I just watch that tube about comex alimentarius and that woman gives herself away near the end where she says that her 5 bigs are taking over everything by buying everyone out and competing them to force them to close. Well that is just normal business practice. The herbals are competitors of the pharmaceutical companies. It is is the same what you can see with many companies in other sectors where you enter a market in which you are not active but which is competing with your own market. Its the shark mentality and its just normal business thinking. Too bad if you are on the wrong end of the spectrum but then you need to adapt or get eaten. Its how it works. The smalltime herbalists now have an extra card to play compared to a normal failing business model because it would be "evil" to force them to close because they do so much good but that is crap. If their products really work they are damn bad marketeers for not being able to sell enough to be sustainable business entities. Who would mind an 'all natural cure for all' that is cheap and widely available? It should be a breaktrough success but unfortunately it isnt. If these herbs work they will be sold by someone because there will always be someone who has the channels to sell enough of it to make approval profitable. You only have to do it once, it is a one-time cost. Therefor these herbs will not disapppear but the sellers able to sell it now, uncontrolled, unmonitored and unapproved will no longer be able to and go out of business. What a sweet outcome. Too bad that they are a victim of these regulations but imagine a world without and shady producers from all over the world are able to put their items in your supermarket. About all the claims she makes about evil nazi doctors, well of course there is some corruption going on and there always has been and that will probably never change. Power corrupts. Read some Plato, it might give you some interesting insights on the matter and after that you might decide that "Rule of the Elite" as NWO guys always seem to call it is actually the best way by far.

I think it is 130 dps vs 200 dps rollrate with 40% speedbrakes in our out. Regarding the speedbrakes you might want to check out this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62684&highlight=excellent+edge+envelope

My previous job as financial analyst was at a company HQ in which has quite a big division in specialised and regular medical products for babies which is active all over the world. They also make a lot of 'healthy' food for both young and old. All pharmaceuticals are involved in pricing agreements (this is not the case in every country btw) whereby the price of very cheap products is inflated to make them elegible for health insurance. This is done trough a clever system of transfer pricing. I know this because my position was offically transfer & cost pricing officer :D Price agreements are common all around but in medical world it is different because increased price has less effect on demand. Costs are incurred by insurance companies and not by consumers directly. If you need a certain medical item, you won't say nah its too expensive never mind. You probably wont even see the bill, the only thing you can notice is increasing insurance premium. In fact for many low-cost medical items higher price increases demand because in many countries there is a minimum price for which a claim can be made at the insurer. So if you increase your price so customers can claim it at their insurance all of the sudden it is free and therefor you increase demand. My counterpart in Greece for example had a USB stick which he took home everyday into a safe under his bed with all the prices on it. No one had access to his prices but him and only trough him. If I wanted to discuss prices with Italy I had to say it was about the daily price of fresh orange juice. None of it could be discussed in plain language in emails. For other countries we received invoices for marketing activities which we never did but it was to compensate for the ridiculously inflated prices they had to pay. I am talking the 500-1000% range here. Its all incurred by the insurance companies of the clients in the end. :D I had many a conversation with the tax director about why this situation is there and why we joined in it and she simply said that you cannot not participate. If you pull out of the agreement everybody else will try to break you. They make lots and lots of money with this. It also went wrong sometimes, for example in germany where we got a fine for a little over 12 million, in this case because we were extracting all the profits from germany as to pay reduced taxes in another country (this happened for all countries). The point is they dont care. They just see it as a calculated risk. Even the fine can be deducted from taxes. In the US we settled a class action law suit where we refunded all expenses made on certain products over the past 7 years because it had false claims. (Well we didnt admit that, we settled). It was about 25 million euro amount IIRC. Peanuts. Also when the new regulations for the EU came, ALL the healthclaims on the regular products (so your average yoghurt with a twist) had to be withdrawn. They then submitted new claims which were all rejected. The situation is the same for all those 'healthy' food companies. I want to say two things with this: 1. The pharmaceutical business has plenty of dirty business involved in it, like any other sector. I think the pharmaceuticals are certainly not one of the nicest kids in class. 2. The EU regulations have a positive effect, namely preventing all kinds of companies be it big or small making claims that are not true. Not only smalltime herbalists are hit by this but also multinational food and medical companies producing en masse products with claims that are not provable.

Also all service personnel start pointing out the extreme importance of having the ability to train dynamic full scale conflict scenarios with correct doctrine adherent AI for each nation in network environments of up to 256 clients to your CO :D

The only thing I miss is a microwave, a refrigerator to stow pizzas and drinks, and some kind of system to drain human waste and be self-sustainable for two weeks :) Hell, why not make it NBC-capable so you can fly on in the event of nuclear holocaust :D Just kidding :p, great cabin you've built there!

Well reading that wikipedia article this looks like a complete fraud. Kind of weird that this company isnt sued by someone for false marketing.

Anyone proficient with mission-making? Can you help me?
Geskes replied to -Ice's topic in User Created Missions General
You could try the mission 'Weapons Training' that is a stock mission. It starts you on runway so you can swap out loadouts trough the ground crew and it has 4 or 5 target waypoints with different difficulty, ranging from soft targets, to tanks and active air defences. Also there are some user made training missions like tygers 'operation dane' or another one, 'training grounds' I think it is called. For JTAC / AI control the mission 'shooting gallery' might be a good one but also a lot of user missions have this included. 'Taking out the trash' is a user mission by badgher which is very nice for a low-threat JTAC practice scenario. -
Regardless of the fact that they are over the top, if you do not like the reflections you can put water on medium or low. How about that.

Yes true, but in first post you said not realistic at all. But I think over sea it is also possible to see reflections. This is actually some pictures from black sea region: Black sea is almost a lake. A very big one but it only has one narrow connection to the mediteranean. Found a pic of batumi coast:

These pictures no, but it is easy to find pictures with DCS like reflections:

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Geskes replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well the engine developers are going to make a game, a kind of civilization game where you can build and drive/fly around to demonstrate engine features. They already have basic flight dynamics engine in there. You can see those in the movies with apache and the cessna type aircraft. Mind you, this is real-time rendered based off a terrain database. The engine will take the mesh and apply algorithms to make it look natural. Also it will plant trees and such. So you have the entire planet here, no need for expansions :D They make this game first with tools for developers so they can make sims with it. Will take propably some years but not very long I guess before we might see something playable with this engine. -
Try this part of the forum: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=140 It has already many missions including training missions of the sort you describe.

Yes if the room owner did not set anything for car rules it will be very unbalanced. But he has the option to limit it. You have different options. You can limit BHP and weight and such, but also you can offer only certain cars. Also you can do a shuffle race (quite cool!) which shuffles everyones cars after each race.
