  1. Late last night I tried Reflected's "Weapon's school 1v1 DACT vs F-5E" quick start mission on the NTTR map. My first time trying ACM/BFM in the Phantom. To my surprise, it went quite well. Opted for nose/tail fight after the merge, then kept my speed up and used the vertical (yo-yo) whenever the AI tightened it's turn. It didn't take long until I got the kill. Probably not that big of an accomplishment, but it felt good, especially for the first time in that module. Subjective, but I believe the Phantom module gives even more feedback than the Tomcat, so I could almost "feel" the respective energy states (hard to describe) I was in.
  2. From what I've gathered, this sets Jester's tolerance threshold for bailing out on you. The lower you set your altitude, the less likely it will be for Jester to eject himself from the aircraft. He seems to think flying low = imminent crash.
  3. Didn't check in S&A yet (Phantom eats up my phree time ), but interactive checklists work vey well in "Zone 5". Quite funny, actually, as with this new procedure the checklist items are rattled off much faster while taxiing, which leads to a very long awkward silent pause after Jester calls "Wings". (until I'm holding short on 03R and extend the wings)
  4. Yes, for those of us who'd rather spend time in the cockpit than of forums reading about the cockpit (), could we please get a TL;DR version of which settings would be recommended? I, for example, use a G940, and whatever I did, the Tomcat right now has FFB to my liking (I did use the Logitech profiler, I believe I kept DCS ffb-settings off?). What would be the recommended FFB-settings for that stick to get "the most" out of the F-4? To quote Lt. Cmdr. Matt T. Sherman (Cary Grant's character from Operation Petticoat): "It's like watching a strip tease. Don't ask how it's done, just enjoy what's coming off."
  5. Yes, "enjoying the goodies", as in: rush to learn and understand enough of the module to be able to make a comprehensive video in a very limited timeframe, work around the bugs still present in those preview-builds, write an exciting and entertaining script, record video and audio (not likely to work with a single take), edit the video, upload to YouTube and do all the SEO work. Sounds like a very relaxed "me" time with the brand new module. (<- sarcasm; I feel I have to add this disclaimer in "current year"). Being a YT creator is not as pedestrian as some people seem to think it is. Although, if you are good at your job, find the right niche, have a personality that your audience likes, it can be quite lucrative. [@Rudel_chw not at dig at you, mate; I'm actually building upon your point]
  6. Do you use head tracking (TrackIR, for example)? If not, I would highly recommend you do. Makes your virtual pilot life a lot easier as it allows you to easily pan around the cockpit.
  7. Thanks Victory, I'm very much looking forward to the Phantom. This tutorial will surely help getting started! I also look forward to Reflected's "TOPGUN" campaign for the Phantom, which will hopefully do for the Phantom what Speed and Angels did for the Tomcat WRT really learning the basics as far as they could be simulated in a consumer level environment. BTW, I was lucky enough back then to be able to find your Tomcat tips, they were really, really helpful!
  8. Yes, Flugwerft Schleißheim indeed (about 30 minutes from here ). Definitely go if you find the time.
  9. Thank you for checking. I just mentioned the issue to BigNewy as well in the "Patchnotes discussion" thread. Hopefully they'll give us a quick hotfix with those files.
  10. It seems like some of the campaign updates from the changelog didn't make it into the patch (interactive checklists). Will there be a hotfix next week to include those? Thanks.
  11. I just tried "Killer Instinct" from the Fear the Bones campaign to check out the new interactive checklist function that came with today's patch, but, alas it didn't work for me. I still had the "Press Spacebar" prompt on the top right of the screen instead of the one shown in the announcement video. Jester also only responded to spacebar presses. Before I go into troubleshooting: does this new feature work for the rest of you? If so, please let me know. I do have VAICOM pro installed, so that could somehow be the culprit? I'd just like to make sure that the problem is indeed on my end only, before I start messing with Voice Attack/VAICOM.
  12. I didn't get an answer here, so I checked ORBX discord, where they are also rather vague about it. "More than $50, less than $100" was what I read.
  13. Is there any information regarding the price for the Kola map, both for EA and the finished product, available already?
  14. What? Kola is already going into EA?! That was...unexpected. Quick question: Kidneys. Are they really that important?
  15. I just flew mission 1 that you kindly provided as a download. That was a fun mission! Love the more elaborate ATC at Akrotiri (which was actually not that hard to follow). It's a long mission, but there is lot going on that keeps the player entertained. Really looking forward to this campaign!
  16. Honestly, I can't remember. The RWR was pretty much cluttered at that point. If it was up, it wasn't locking me, though. IIRC, I did see a "6" on the HAD, because I was contemplating strafing it, in case Bug's HARM would miss (of course I forgot to set a mark point previously; I became rather rusty in the Viper ). I also forgot to check in the debriefing afterwards whether my CBU's killed the SA-6 radar or not. I never thought about it, since I heard the "kill message", and I saw from rising smoke that I definitely did kill multiple "somethings" on that SA-6 site.
  17. Hi Chris, I just got back into FIWOS to finally finish the campaign (took a break after mission 9). I'll put the question in spoiler tags, as it's related to the plot:
  18. I keep hearing "sugar breakers" instead of "circuit breakers" during the checklist. Maybe I should eat a Snickers bar before flying? Oh, and happy (slightly belated) Birthday, @Reflected.
  19. I had something similar happen in another Tomcat campaign recently. In my case, for some reason, DCS couldn't load/ find the player skin anymore, and froze. Doing a slow repair fixed the issue in my case. You can try by opening the mission in the mission editor and choose a different skin for your aircraft.
  20. Apparently, if you use the radio command instead of the "salute" key bind to launch the catapult (or the other way round?), Paco's trigger may not work. So whatever you have been using to launch so far, try the other option. The mission works for me, but I am using VAICOM and use a voice command (that probably uses the "salute" key).
  21. Absolutely fantastic! It's amazing how far you and your fellow creators like BD and Chris from Ground Pounder Sims have pushed (and continue to push) the boundaries of campaign creation.
  22. I just saw your announcement video on YouTube. What an amazing addition. Thank you so much for your dedication to keep your older campaigns up-to-date! Now, if we could some day also get the interactive crew chief from your upcoming Viper campaign for the Tomcat and the Phantom.... *ducks, rolls, runs for cover*
  23. Cool! Can't wait to find out what it is! Regarding the issue with the freeze: Slow repair did the trick, mission is loading again as it should.
  24. Didn't the A-7 have the first "real" HUD in the US military, 1967-ish? Or was it introduced with later A-7 models? If the former, I wonder why that technology didn't make it into the A-Tomcats? Edit. A quick search found this article: https://www.twz.com/34405/the-a-7-corsair-iis-heads-up-display-was-a-revolution-in-air-combat
