  1. Please don't be offended but it aches my heart again and again since 2010 whenever I see a10c being listed for sale: selling the bestest and finestest simulator for such a tiny amount of money makes me sad every time. The a10c product has so many facettes and is made and patched with so much love one cannot understand it can be bought for the same money as a large pizza or an evening at the cinema. As for warthog bird herself; she ages while increasing in beauty. You hear me? No more selling <60 bucks!! Ps: my deepest apologies to poor people. :D PPS: no offense to the other modules (I just own fc3 and dcs a10, so I am biased)
  2. I totally agree :-) Best monitor ever. Sold my dell 30" screen for it.
  6. Part 8 missing ;)
  7. Great video. Especially the beginning was awesome :) Thx!
  8. Does it really have to be run with dcs in windows mode?
  9. Wow. Thanks for sharing. Not. ;)
  10. I say: buy a 27" g sync monitor if you have an nvidia card, because you will have smooth gameplay most of the time. otherwise if there was a 34" 21:9 gsync monitor, I would sell mine immediately ;) So the 34" would be my other primary choice ;)
  11. can you show a picture of what it looks like? On that amazon link I found a nice review (by you?`) :) and amazon is suggesting to buy a ps/2 cable along with the gardena... hehe
  12. Hey there again, unfortunately it does not work in the flaming cliffs modules, just in a10c and TF51 module... here is why: The Flaming Cliff modules, for example F-15 have only the following option for camera movement: "Camera Horizontal View" and "Camera Vertical View". However these options are greyed out in the ED-Tracker column :(((. So you can´t assign the head movement to ed-tracker, only mouse binding is possible with these axes. however in the a10c module and the TF-51 module there are additional options: "Absolute Camera Horizontal View" and "Absolute Camera Vertical View". Here you can assign the ED-Tracker to the movements and it will work ingame. Is there any possible fix for this? It seems, that the axis-preferences assigned to viewings are somewhat outdated at the FC3 modules. Help anyone?
  13. Hey guys, just quick note from me regarding the head tracking device ED-tracker. Originally built by Elite Dangerous fans, it works only with DCS a10 and 51 module! This small device costs about 40 Euro and uses gyrometers to sense head movement (only x and y axes, no zooming!). You just strap it on top of your head(phone), plug in a micro usb cable and install the drivers. I have the track ir 5 also and this is a good alternative. The big advantage (apart from the lower cost): There are no parts that obstruct your view or brake (hello pro-clip). you can order it here: http://edtracker.org.uk/ Kind regards boris
  14. Hello big peltch, Using an external powered USB hub will solve your problems! This very specific throttle issue wih the x55 is discussed in many forums and easy to fix with the hub. Greetings Boris
  15. There is no tearing at all when turning your head in cockpit. What I wanted to say was that gsync does really make it possible (for the first time ever) that your brain accepts this 40-60 fps as smooth animation. However if the objects on your screen change drastically in a short time (turning head) you'd like more fps to increase the clarity and readability of the moving gauges etc. as an example just turn your head ingame with your non g sync screen: everything will tear heavily or stutter and non readable. With gsync again this effect is much less and image quality is improved. As I tried on other games (bf4, mechwarrior online, grid auto sport) a constant 60-80 fps is enough for me in all situation. Probably there are players that would need even more fps, but with the help of gsync the image quality ist drastically improved at lower fps. Since dcs world is kind of slow compared to the other games, a lower fps rate is acceptable. Faster games require higher fps to keep the high immersion. Again it's the old fps vs. detail-preferences discussion but with this technology you can improve the detail sliders and still be happy. Oh and one more thing: the pendulum demo is available for download and I tried it out on the monitor. There you can simulate various fps rates with gsync and vsync and vsync off. And it really works and is convincing. I'm not from nvidia or anything btw. ;) the technology is proprietary and expensive, and since I am buying a house right now I should not buy any PC hardware ATM, but it was really worth dumping my dell u3011 for this monitor. Even worth the discussions with my wife. Hehe.
  16. Just a quick note from me, since i recently bought the asus rog swift pg278q which is a 144hz, 1440p monitor with gsync technology. Performance (fps count): my settings are high (HDR off). Quick starting a mission with the a10 gives me between 30-40 fps when looking in the direction of the action and about 75+ fps when looking in the opposite direction. Switching off the cockpit vial alt-f1 gives an extra 5 fps. Performance (g sync): as you can read on the internet gsync technology is a game (/sim-) changer. I enjoy flying at 40fps very much, the impression is really smooth! Only thing is heavy head turning in the cockpit, therefore a constant 75fps would be better (edge hopefully...). But for the constant flight where the scenery is moving closely below you it is great. Before that monitor I used to fly with vsync on to avoid the horrifying tearing errors you get when turning around in the cockpit.. So overall the frame synching technology really is a game changer for me. Kind regards Boris
  17. Vram usage is not equal to vram needed. Gtx 780ti runs great om games. However next month the gtx 900 series will come out and priices will drop....
  18. Okay guys, here´s my experience with DK2 and DCS: 1. Nausea, nausea, nausea. Especially when leveling off from a steep dive or hard turn. Guess I´m not pilot-material :-( btw: i had nausea as soon as I side-strafed in the tuscany demo so it´s really probably me. 2. Blurry: Since the resolution is so low you cannot read any instruments (digital / analogue) whatever. This makes it hard to concentrate on a point inside your cockpit other than keeping on starring out of the window all of the time. 3. Graphics: Only setting for me that runs 75fps stable without any dips in v-sync is minimum graphic settings (or nearly minimum). This in combination with the resolution makes DCS world look like FS98 somehow. 4. immersion: Yes, you are sitting in the cockpit, you turn around you see knobs and dials in 3D which is really nice. However some of the su25t gauges seem to be 2D which disturbs the immersion a little. Actually you get a much (!) better orientation for distance / altitude and speed. since you look constantly out of the window you become very aware of your position in the area you´re flying in. For an example when you fly around an airport you have a good feeling of distance and direction of where things are. I used track-ir for a long time on a single 30" monitor and before on a triple screen setup. Believe me: Track-ir is not even close to the inside-cockpit-sitting-feeling that OR provides. 5. wife: "Is this the way we sit in front of things in the future?" "yes." funny side note: she tried to grab the flight stick, when she looked down in the virtual cockpit. 6. after playing 3 hours with the rift I had (marginal) difficulties to focus on my real desk and monitor text. In conclusion: I believe that much of the nausea comes from the bad resolution and graphics quality. If only things were sharper and maybe even with a higher frames per seconds... Oh well. However I can see that the rift is like using 2 viewports. so the 1080p of the rift is much more work for your cpu / gpu than the normal 1080p of your single-screen-monitor. so if you think of a 4k-rift, one would need a badass computer. kind regards boris
  19. I strongly believe, that +75fps will be necessary for gaming. Probably even more... Getting my dk2 today. So I'll give it a try then :)
  20. I was wondering why dcs f15c flaming cliffs costs the same 20$ as dcs flaming cliffs 3 which includes all the flaming cliffs airplanes. Where's the difference? Kind regards Boris
  21. open thread - read first post again - rethink your own post - edit your own post - ok Enjoy
  22. Very nice setup! What do you use for water cooling? Greetings Boris
  23. I totally agree with you. If i wanted to have a A10 home cockpit besides my 60h per week job, I´d have to buy everything for big $$$: 3-5 projectors and the cockpit hardware (switches, gauges etc.) which may cost about 10 to 15k Euro. However this restricts me to that single cockpit. Now lets say 5 years in the future, I believe there might be a couple of other sims I´d play, say star citizen, eve vr, racing games etc. etc. Although the beamer setup would be still useful, the expensive cockpit would not. Furthermore think of the extensive CPU and GPU power you need to support multiple dislplays. Even with the bestest hardware available you might not have good frame rates on certain games if played at 5x 720p. The downside of VR goggles are the limited amount of tactile control and seasickness, but probably things have to adapt to this. I am really looking forwared to this, since high resultion / DPI displays are common nowadays. If it´s not the rift, it may be from another company, I personally do not care. I´ll buy it anyway ;) Greets boris
  24. I am so jelous flim :-)
  25. i dont think so. they would have announced it long time ago.
