A short post adressed @ ED. Wouldn´t it be better for the company to purchase from the DCS website instead of buying dcs-bs from steam? Tell me where to get it from and I will =) Greetings boris

I fixed the flickering TGP Screen in SLI mode
scheffchen replied to toby23's topic in Bugs and Problems
toby, so the 1024 every frame setting doesn´t help? Back the days when I used SLI (GTX 470) i did not have any more tgp flickering when using the setting... -
Hi there and welcome to the best flight sim =) important condition is to turn engines off for refuel. the intercom-dial does not work (yet?) - just use the communication button and choose ground crew. my procedure: 1) Land, taxi off runway to parking spot 2) ground crew: turn ground power on. "copy, ground power on" 3) shut down both engines 4) ground grew: refuel 100%. "copy"... waiting till finished 5) start apu, then engines, then take off again By the way: usually you can just refuel on the runway, blocking everyone else :D Best wishes Boris

Hey there again! Armaholicbr, I´ve tried various settings and these are my results, so far that I´ve found out the last hour: For my quick benchmarks regarding the graphic settings I used the instant mission (winter, west georgia), startet the mission with fps-counter on and looked over to the left (to the mountains), turned left after 5 seconds and kept flying to the mountains. In this very terrain there are numerous trees that show the impact of the tree slider nicely (see below). System specs: i7930@4ghz, gtx 580, 12gb ram, intel ssd 320 series, win7 64bit, 1920x1080@120hz Here are the results: :smartass: - Both of the .lua (yours and kuky´s) did not make any noticable difference in fps - With the above settings playing an instant mission (winter west georgia) gives an average of 40 - 60 fps, BUT: playing in the campaign (second campaign, first mision) fps go down to mid twenty during fight (cas, sead, cap action, tgp and mav seeker activated and locked on target). - no big difference between 2xaa vs. 8xQ, low vs. medium water, no civ traffic vs. medium, hdr off vs. on, tssaa off vs. on. - However: HUGE difference between tree distance 7000 vs. tree distance 15000  - huge FPS drop, when zooming the cockpit view in in direction of the horizont (obviously because a lot of extra 3d-models have to be rendered). Solution: I dont zoom any more ;) conclusion: I absolutely love and hate the new config files, because the truth is simple and old: eye candy vs. fps. :( Now my favourite settings are the "very_high distance" preferences combined with maximum tree distance of 7000. My advice for all other dcs-a10 players is to try out the very_high distance mod, because the change of appearance of the landscape is really really really incredible! For the first time you can spot villages and small cities from far away, and the 3D-environment adapts to the f10-map in point of details (you know, on the map where every small city has a name and you always wondered why you didn´t recognize itwhile obviously having flown over it). Thats all for now. Good night =) Boris PS: Can anyone try out the very high distance and tree settings with a single and dual gpu rig? Pleeeeaaase? :music_whistling:

Well thank you very much kuky! =) BUT: Now i see that even my gtx 580 quickly reaches its limits with all details on. using everything at highest settings (except: civ traffic off, water: medium, msaa x 2, cockpit resolution:512) at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 my frames go down to about 20 fps in the heat of the battle (having tgp and mav-seeker turned on). thats a hard impact... I am really wondering wether another gtx 580 would solve the problem, or if the fps impact is cpu dependant (i7 930 @4ghz). does anybody want to try this out with a single and dual gtx 580 and the very high settings? Just before I go out and spend another 380 Euro for the second graphic card :D Greetings Boris

RWR Threat Reference Cards

Wow thanks a lot ! -
Dear Tyger, just a short reply to yesterday evening. For the first time ever (?) there had been 18 people flying dcs-a10 on one server which had been one of the greatest multiplayer experience for me in a while. You should be proud of this, because the server was crowded and stable. Don´t be too harsh with people not joining your TS3 server, probably they will soon enough. But PLEASE don´t force clients to do this and that, after all it´s a leisure-time sim/game. :) People behaved totally nicely yesterday, no teamkills, no friendly fire, although the strike was probably not that effective as a TS3 based attack-group would have been... For instance, I was talking to my girlfriend in the background, and had 2 phonecalls during the online session. So usually I do not have a problem with joining a TS3 server, but sometimes it just doesn´t work out. Don´t take it personal ! :) Plus the fact that english isn´t the native language of many players, so probably language based groups could help some people. Greetings scheffchen

So the best option for a tearing free image display would be a superfast graphic card (being able to produce 70fps) with a 60hz monitor and vsync enabled, respectively the same graphic card with a 120hz monitor but vsync disabled. Correct? Ooor: use 2 of the superfast gfx-cards on the 120hz monitor with vsync enabled. :D

That was one of the best announcements for a long long time! I totally agree that the in-between-compatibility of fc,bs and a10 is a must for the sim-community! Just go ahead on a usual mid-week evening and check available servers for dcs-a10 (few, mostly passworded) versus FC2-Servers (many, mostly unlocked). After all most people want to share their flying experience online in a multiplayer experience, some with more, some with less hardcore-modeled planes. Speaking for myself I love the A-10 so much I invested much $ for hardware upgrades, but watching all the youtube-videos with croweded FC2-Servers with all that red vs. blue action kind of makes me sad, so that i reinstalled fc2... I am really looking forward to FC3, which will be the most important step for the community for this year. Hopefully this year... Please ?-)

hey deadman, I have your covers a couple of months now and now my hotas is the only pc-equipment that doesn´t bathe in dust like the rest. Just wanted to say thanks for that :) Greetings Boris

thanks for the great videos guys!

well honestly I am not sure whether the mentioned value really represents VRAM usage. I tested this by switching my multi-monitor setup to single monitor setup without any different values. So I´d think that the 2000-2200MB could be the amount of RAM (not VRAM) that DCS-A10C uses... What do you think?

When wind comes from the right direction there are 2 ways: 1) direct nose "into the wind" so you keep on drifting on the right pathway. On final approach (30 meters before tuchdown) you should first use the rudder pedals to allign to the runway while compensation with the rolling the joystick a little to the right. 2) keep the right wing hanging down a bit so your roll-rate stabilizes your drift. This can be dangerous if crosswind is hard, because your wing might touch ground first, so you have to go horizontal seconds before touchdown This scheme on wikipedia shows the methods nicely: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crosswind_landing Most important rule is to never let the wind "under" your right wing, because this will cause instability at once. see here (ca. at 0:40 - 0:45): Make a mission with a steady crosswind without any turbulences to practice the procedure. That helps a lot !:-) Greetings Boris

I would always recommend an SLI System since I installed mine. On nearly all games the scaling is superb and the price is right too (when buying the second card later). Upgrading to sli / crossfire even makes sense on a single monitor when someone wants highest graphic settings. On multi-monitor setups however VRAM may be an issue: If you tend to turn on AA and AF 1.5GB per card could be too less (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/File:PS-GTX460-Crysis3.jpg or http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1068735&postcount=1 ) . On the other hand cards with enough vram are very pricey... Watercooling can be a good option for noise cancelling but adds another 100$ for each Gfx-card or CPU to be cooled - every generation again...

thank you for posting that interesting picture. i have two gtx470 (zotac amp) and it was splendid before i upgraded to triple monitor... now i am missing vram a lot!
