cannot repoduce and missing track file F18 TRIM AND STICK PROBLEMS
niru27 replied to Opus 1's topic in Bugs and Problems
The Hornet auto trims for 1G in normal flight. The pitch trim has a very small effect here, you can confirm it by first engaging AP BALT and then press and hold the Trim nose UP. You should see the AP go off and the nose will climb. While landing though, you get a much greater response from the pitch trim. ------- I think I figured out the problem with uncommanded nose up. Will try a few more times and see if it is reproducible -
cannot repoduce and missing track file F18 TRIM AND STICK PROBLEMS
niru27 replied to Opus 1's topic in Bugs and Problems
Please watch the video again. The pitching up was happening even before I turned on ATC. Pay attention to the VVI and whether AP is on or not. With ATC on, the throttle increasing is not causing pitch up. Pitching up is causing the throttle to increase as it needs more power to maintain the set speed. With Flaps Auto the FCS auto trims for 1G. You can trim up/down as/if required/ -
cannot repoduce and missing track file F18 TRIM AND STICK PROBLEMS
niru27 replied to Opus 1's topic in Bugs and Problems
It is an intermittent issue, doesn't happen all the time. And replaying the track seems to not show the issue, guess the recording is broken. Game avionics is disabled, but I do have a few mods installed. Not sure if those are to blame since this happens intermittently, and dropping gear & flaps and resetting trim fixes it. Here's a video that better shows it. Watch for the pitching up when AP is off (no colons). Flies flat with AP on. No pitch up input seen by DCS either according to the Controls Indicator. -
cannot repoduce and missing track file F18 TRIM AND STICK PROBLEMS
niru27 replied to Opus 1's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just watch the track without taking control. After launch I raise the gear & flaps and don't touch the stick AT ALL. Once both are up the violent pitch up starts. It is untcontrollable in pitch at this point. After dropping gear & flaps and resetting trim, it behaves normally. Would a screen capture work, with the controls indicator displayed? There is a HUGE difference before and after resetting. -

Same problem with hotstart Launch mission where you're already setup and hooked to Cat 1 -

cannot repoduce and missing track file F18 TRIM AND STICK PROBLEMS
niru27 replied to Opus 1's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've been facing the same even when I take off at Half Flaps with the correct TO trim set. The solution is the same as it was for the take off with Auto Flaps problem: slow down drop gear drop full flaps set TO trim gear up flaps up jet flies normally now The jet flies fine on AP, but impossible to control manually. -
Speed Brake Automatic retraction when gear extended ?
niru27 replied to speed-of-heat's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
It doesn't depend on the Landing Gear, but the IAS & other variables of the jet: >250 : Speed brake stays open wherever you leave it, you have to retract manually when required >250 + pulling >6G turn : auto retracts >250 + >28° AoA : auto retracts <250 : Speed brakes extended only while holding the button in the aft position. Auto retracts when released Flaps @ Half/Full : auto retracts Flaps @ Half/Full + Weight on Wheels : stays open 250 kts happens to be when you're dropping the gear -
The point of manual startup is that the pilot can check and confirm everything is functioning as desired. It gives a chance to catch somthing that might go wrong in flight and cause loss of aircraft/pilot. The pilot is not flipping switches in rapid sequence as fast as possible. They turn on a system, observe, and proceed once it's operating properly. You can watch this video where the pilot narrates and explains what he's doing. Automating stuff is easy enough. But it won't be reliable without multiple redundancies. Most rocket launches are automated for example.

Strange control problem with binding 4 CMS commands
niru27 replied to pushcart2012's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
He means the 4 toggle switches in the CMSP panel above the Warning Lights Panel. For eg, if you bind the right most toggle [DISP] to a key, it won't work properly to customize the counter measure program. It's hard to explain, it works with mouse but not physical key. I think it requires a physical latching toggle instead of momentary, even though in cockpit the up position is momentary. -
If you hover the mouse cursor over a clickable control, it will show you what the keybind is called in the controls menu. The MAP toggle is controlled by an On-screen-button on the Left MFCD, so it can perform different things depending on the page you are in. The generic names for these buttons are OSB-1 to OSB-20, separate for each screen. Go to Adjust Controls > A 10C II > Select Left MFCD in the drop down menu on top left That will show you all the related controls there. Same for UFC. You want UFC Steerpoint Up or something like that
-
If you don't want to create a macro using some other software, simplest solution would be to bind it to Wheel Brake. The brake pedals will be held down for as long as the switch is flipped

reported earlier UFC SPC button inserts 2 spaces
niru27 replied to niru27's topic in Bugs and Problems
Here's the track A10C2DblSPC.trk -
Pressing the SPC button on the UFC inserts 2 spaces, one for pressing and one when releasing the button. Happens when clicking on it with the mouse too The CDU SPC works as expected, inserting only a single space for one press+release

There's another way: Directory Junctions You can have a folder on one drive appear & act, for all intents & puposes, as though it actually exists in another location/drive. Lets say your DCS is installed in D:\DCS World OpenBeta\ So Syria would be normally located at D:\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Syria If you want to move it to another drive, due to lack of space, let's say E:\DCS\Syria run these command: mkdir E:\DCS\Syria mklink /j D:\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\terrains\Syria E:\DCS\Syria When you get a success message, just download/install Syria map, and it will actually be written to E:\, but will appear in D:\ If you're not comfy with cmd commands, get this: https://m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hardlink_shell_extension.html

Easily? No, but it is possible to remove the detents altogether by taking apart the throttle. Not something you want to do everytime you switch between rotary and fixed wings Easiest solution would be to adjust DCS curve to be between physical IDLE and MIL detents. You lose some throw/accuracy, but it's way easier than repeatedly removing/reinstalling detents. Since the curves are per aircraft & per device, you only have to do this once

Holy crap, this made a night & day difference on my ministick. The cap was all the way down, so it was moving very little. Now It feels like a proper ministick. Thank you!!

Sometimes my modifiers.lua files disappear from all aircraft folders. Since I'm dependent on them a lot to fly with the TWCS + T16000m, this becomes a problem. As far as I can tell, this happens when I start DCS without my controllers attached, but only sometimes. Most times I attach them, it gets recognized and works as expected. But once in a while, it recognizes the device, but forgets all modifiers. Anyway to figure out why this happens?

An alternative solution if you want to retain the analog control: Use a modifier for the axis. Add a modifier button, pinky switch for example Clear & assign the radar axis to Pinky Switch + axis When you want to change elevation: Hold Pinky Switch Move axis to required position Release Pinky Switch The elevation should remain at its set posistionm until you press Pinky Switch again (and move the axis) Do let us know if it works for you

I was searching for Double Tap functionality, but couldn't find it anywhere, so came up with it myself. With Multi Tap you can assign commands to: single tap single tap + hold aka Long Press (just like Tempo) double tap double tap + hold ... n number of taps with/without hold at end Joystick Gremlin can detect long press and double tap, but it can't do both at the same time. There's also an AHK option, but I didn't want to rewrite all my mappings in AHK immediately after doing it in TMC. PS: I'm coding in C after a long time, so there might be more efficient means of achieving the same functionality. Do test it out and let me know about any bugs/improvements. Example script is for the TWCS, but easily adaptable to your device.
