  1. Wow, great work! Wouldn't mind seeing more cool Viggen videos :pilotfly:
  2. Kneeboard  Viggen kneeboard has lots of good info.
  3. Great! I was wondering why dive bombing hud disappears when my nose drops below the horizon, just when I start my dive, what Im doing wrong. Will wait for the fix to try again. Until then - high drag CCIP bombing is keeping me entertained :joystick:
  4. I use Spudknocker's profile https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300419/ There's informational video about the profile also, worth checking out. The distance/angle/height of the TrackIr camera itself plays a big role in getting non-twitchy movement - so if you have problems I recommend playing around with the actual camera positioning too.
  5. Similar crash here. Caucasus, single mission, I was on autopilot altitude+attitude hold and I was working on the radar as it crashed. Before that I had been flying in NTTR for hours without any problems. Only used autopilot very briefly during that time. dcs.log-20180727-073610.zip
  6. Just quick thanks - crashing seems to be a thing of the past, Viggen has worked smoothly since the patch!
  7. Warthog throttle is plug & play for A-10 as it's designed to work with it - but sadly it's not as easy with other planes. You can do some more stuff with the TARGET software - but I didn't get the cutoff to idle work with Viggen properly. So I am using the ENG OPER switches (IGN position, where it returns to the middle). Left for start button, right for High Pressure Fuel valve. Works nicely. Another way is to use some other joystick programming software. For example Xpadder, you can bind keypresses to switches when they turn on, but also when they turn off - which is needed for many of the Warthog switches. Haven't used Xpadder with TM Warthog specifically - but with Saitek joystick and DIY switch panels for example. Good thing about Viggen is though that it has couple alternate keybind options for 3-way switches (which the Warthog throttle has) - so they work nicely. For example the radar modes and NAV fixes.
  8. About my LD altimeter getting stuck in altitude, not moving & other NAV weirdness. Here's how I got it to appear again: -At/after target waypoint, I change my destination to LS (starting airfield) -NAV mode refuses to direct me there, no direction and distance doesn't change. I can chase the nav pipper but it is basically telling me I'm on top of it (which I'm not). All other waypoints work OK. -At starting airfield (or on the way there at some point) LD altimeter on HUD stops working, the altitude get stuck and doesn't show proper altitude data. I can change to RHM and it works and if I change to any other waypoint, LD starts to work again. This is starting to feel more like a bug or am I missing something?
  9. I was bit unclear with my explanation - I meant to say that altitude was frozen in barometric mode, altitude did not change at all, it showed altitude 820 constantly no matter my real altitude. Not sure what can cause that? Anyway - many thanks for your help & insight regarding the navigation, I've already spotted & corrected several errors in my procedures :) Just two things I'm not yet sure whether they are working correctly or do I just lack the necessary knowledge - RENSA & not getting TILS light (does every airfield have it?). Need to do some more practice & testing :joystick: EDIT: Well I did get TILS on my latest approach so I've seem to get that figured out too :)
  10. I've been learning this awesome plane - but I would need little help fixing my errors. Im beginning to understand how I'm supposed to do things, but when things don't go as I thought they would, I feel little lost. Currently I'm working on getting hold of the navigation - I've been reading the manual and watching Bunyap's awesome videos. I'm also using the AJS37 Warfare & Reference Kneeboard charts. Help me understand what I'm doing wrong, like for example my last mission: -I'm flying the Caucasus Cold Start quick mission. -I checked the correct runway heading (atleast I thought I checked the correct thing) so I did not use 'Reference' button on the runway -Already at the first waypoint I notice nav was off -There's a yellow NAV SYST warning light indicating that the initial runway heading is missing, even if I checked on the ground it was correct? Maybe not? -TERNAV status & error show '50' in the Data Panel so it should be in good shape, right? Status 5 and error 0 km - so I'm bit puzzled about the NAV error.. -Im doing visual fixes along the way (Warthog throttle 3 way pinky switch - T1 middle position before flying over the nav point, TV when flying over) but it doesn't seem to get more accurate, it's off at every waypoint (no matter what the reading is at data panel). -Ive never been able to get the target position where it's supposed to be, I need to look out for the target in the vicinity. Normal? -As I was heading home after weapon release I noticed waypoint B4 (which I had changed to M4 when starting the plane as it was the target point) hadn't changed automatically to next waypoint, but instead was reading E4. I had to change waypoint manually, but it was also reading E5 instead of B5...? What does the E stand for and why did it make the change by itself? -On the way home I accidentally made 2-3 visual fixes (was trying to turn on autopilot), messing up my NAV. I clicked on RENSA while in AKT POS, but nothing happened. I clicked it another time, nothing. I clicked it long, nothing. Shouldn't it erase the fixes I've made? Now TERNAV shows 21, which makes sense, NAV is definitely off now.... -I thought I could come home using TILS and I did the approach thing and everything went smoothly, except when descending on the base I noticed the base wasn't there... It was apparently guiding me from my (deteriorated) nav data and I did not see the TILS light in the panel either? Shouldn't it pick up TILS automatically, I was in the LAND NAV mastermode and TILS was at A (automatic). -Well I did a normal visual landing on my starting field and as I was going down I noticed my HUD was reading the same altitude (820). I was in barometric mode (LD), switching to radar (RHM) made it show correct altitude. What was that about? So it seemed pretty much everything went wrong... :megalol: Anyway, any help regarding the correct way to do Viggen navigation and trying to make me understand what went wrong in my last mission is much appreciated :)
  11. Not working for me either - was part of the tutorial and tried adjusting it with mouse, but no animation nor any movement in the compass? Should it be bound as a keyboard commands for now (haven't tested if that works)?
  12. Awesome! Looks like I picked the perfect time to purchase this module. Will wait for the patch - but am already getting myself familiarized with the plane, manual is great help :) Will be printing it out tomorrow - what section are you still updating? Also, my home cockpit was heading towards 'A-10' but I have a feeling that I'll be exploring Viggen also as an option. 'Exploring' - as in 'already ordered necessary stuff for first Viggen panel (data panel)' :D
  13. Im having the exact same issues - but with any plane, really. Not specific to Viggen. But I got the crashing Viggen too. Also screen going black after setting up Viggen keyboard commands/axis - but can't seem to reproduce that every time so not sure what's that about. In addition to that, DCS always crashes when closing it if I've flown the Viggen. Doesn't do that on other planes. Anyway, flying A-10 & F-5 until Viggen is fixed - but honestly, can't wait. Seems like a super cool plane :)
  14. Some nice looking cockpits here! :joystick: Here's mine. I recently started testing triple monitor setup. My TV, actual PC monitor and another random screen - they're a bunch of different sized screens not aligned perfectly, but it's still pretty nice to have such a wide vision. Also changed from Saitek X52 to Warthog - and what a difference. Saitek served me a long time but was never a fan of it. Built around the throttle is my custom switch box with Leo Bodnar USB board. Clickable cockpit is great - but I like having actual toggles & switches at my reach.
  15. I just go with the keyboard - 'Print Screen' for center and 'Scroll Lock' for pause. I like having 'actual' plane controls with my HOTAS & controllers but I suppose it's just a matter of choice. I had flown a long time with really twitchy TrackIR settings and was using center & pause constantly. But after getting it properly tweaked (with the help of few You Tube videos) I find that I'm not using the center & pause that much anymore. Pause in particular seems to have very little use nowadays. My current setting is pretty much what is described in this video and it works great: Sorry I digressed a little bit. To your question - 'L/G Warning Silence' button on the throttle could be another choice, as its only minor audible inconvinience not having that button around doing it's original duty.
  16. Good job on the Nevada so far, can't wait for it!
  17. Finnish pilot here, playing with pilots from Pelit.fi forum.
  18. Not a bug, you have to reload DSMS in order it to have the correct weapon information.
  19. Well, no luck. Its beyond me atleast as Im not so skilled with this. If somebody has some good ideas I can try them out as i have the setup ready.
  20. I have potentiometer for zoom. But i can do some experiments and report back if im succesful.
  21. Same results as with the most users - game runs smoother! Including TrackIr. Loading times are longer in a way that you notice it but doesn't really bother - especially when spending 1-2 hours in the cockpit for one mission. But I do get small freezes too every now and then. Cant say whether they were there before the patch, though or not. In quick mission before each new objective loads there was a slight pause atleast. Great job anyway! Not worried about random crashes anymore. *fingers crossed*
  22. Are you serious? Have you even checked when this thread has been started?
  23. My setup:
  24. Haven't played Dawn of War 2 - so can't really tell whats it like. But if it had good debriefs then yes :)
  25. I mean adding elements to the mission briefing and debriefing that add to the immersion. Just what info is shown to the player and how it is shown. Making it more appealing as a game and also as a simulator. For example adding stuff for the briefings - intel photos, map of the battlefield with friendly troops and known enemy locations, plans how to best excecute the mission. Anything to make it less "sterile". Also, adding the option to choose the payload from the briefing would be great - its bit dull to do it thru the mission planner. With campaigns things could be made to improve so that it feels like a campaign that is progressing - not just single missions in a row. Just that you could check your statistics, look how the battlefield is changing, have a limited inventory of planes and weapons that you could keep track of and so on. And why does when i finish a campaign mission it always goes back to the campaign menu showing the available campaigns - that just makes it feel even more like single missions. It would be way better if you would have a separate campaign screen where you could check all the statistics and stuff i mentioned above, maybe a view of your a-10 on the runway - and from there i could start the next mission. Its just little things but somehow still important. Also the debriefings. Many "problems" arent because the info is not there but just how it is represented. I mean the debrief info is very throrough but it just leaves you cold in every way. I mean im not really interested what another flight on the other side of the map achieved but seeing T-72 tank silhouettes painted on the side of my plane after a succesfull mission would get me wanting to continue the campaign. Yeah, i know, might not be realistic but just to get the idea. it could just show your kills and some main points what happened in the battlefield - and if you would want you could delve deeper into the course of the mission and get the info you are getting now. The style of the debriefing is bit too much "excel" for my taste right now. These kind of things aren't probably the main priority (or not a priority at all) as i understand its a highly realistic simulator first and foremost. And as a simulator its like nothing else. But adding elements such as i mentioned above I think would add greatly to the experience - making it feel more coherent and believable also when not in the cockpit. Never played - but from what I've heard - Jane's simulators used to excel in that kind of immersion, combining great game and simulator. So that might be something to look into.
