In game FPS limiter, especially for VR.
MartinVoy replied to MartinVoy's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It could be better or not, I don't know. I think sometime build in solutions works better. I'm having massive FPS drops every now and then , form like 45FPS stable to 15FPS constant. Sometime it helps if I'd do Alt+Tab to switch out of DCS and witch back to it, and FPS would be back to 45, but it not always works and I need to restart DCS then. I feel like it may be something with OpenXR Motion Reprojection. Still I'm guessing now. I don't believe ED would implement it anyway. Flat screen don't need that, VR is too small market yet, to move some developing resources there, so the topic is going to die anyway, I believe. My bad, I changed general setting, not per-game one. I'll give it another go. Cheers! -

Unfortunately it doesn't work for VR. It doesn't lock in VR at all. -

All right - all my problems with OpenXR Toolkit not working sorted. It appears OpenXR Toolkit needs VisualC++ Redistributables that wasn't with Windows Installation Files, so it needs additional download after installing Windows. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/troubleshooting.html#missing-visual-c-system-component Thank you for all the help and support! -

All right, this is wired then. I have a clean fresh updated Windows 10 Pro, clean fresh install of DCS. I did everything according to the description and it gives me all sort of errors (please, see 2 posts above with the screenshots), and not running if OpenXR Toolkit is installed, but... DCS doesn't care from what partition it is started, so I started my PC from a different partition where DCS is not even installed, but I have all sots of crap installed instead. Then I followed all OpenXR steps from the description in this post, then I started DCS manually in the same Windows system where DCS is not even installed (I just did look for DCS.exe in my games folder on the other partition and clicked it) - and everything works perfect! So the question is, what am I missing on fresh installed and updated Windows with fresh/clean install of DCS? Some Java runtime, some Framework, some file, anything comes to mind? -

I forgot to mention, I run Reverb G2. I can't run OpenXR Toolkit in game and I can't set FSR/NIS. I can open Open XR Toolkit outside the game only. When I do, I get this message: "Error: Failed to querry version" and then OpenXR Toolkit would open. I use 1.1.0 version, but older would give the same message to me. -
Please, could we have FPS limiter in game, it would be very helpful for VR especially. Limiting FPS helps to avoid stutter a lot. I was using Open XR Toolkit for that, but it's 3rd party software and causes some issues sometime too - yet is showed that capping FPS at 1/2 or 1/3 of VR headset refresh rate is a huge improvement in smoothness of the game. Thank you.

In addition to what I stated above: it also gives this error in Windows Mixed Reality if Open XR Toolkit is installed. If I'd uninstall Open XR Toolkit, it would be without any errors in this window. -

Thank you for this topic. I did everything as in the description and it works great until I install Open XR Toolkit (I tried the newest one and some oldest too) - I get this message when trying to run the game no matter what version of Open Toolkit I use. (edit: if I'd uninstall Open XR Toolkit, the game runs with no problems). Any clue, what might be the problem? (i7-12700k/RTX3080Ti/64GB) DCS Open Beta. (edit: I run Reverb G2) -

Please make sure you have done everything following the smallest steps - I had the same issues, I had fresh Windows install and fresh DCS install, nothing else on PC. It was crashing and giving me all sorts of errors. It turned out I installed Windows from my USB stick and it was a little bit outdated - this morning Windows updated itself and everything works perfect. Then I read somewhere in between lines on the first page in the description that Windows must be up to date... My bad, my fault. Maybe you're missing some one little thing... EDIT: I stand corrected - Open XR Toolkit crashes my game and wouldn't let it to start. -

I owe an apology to ED. So I do, I apologise. Just after last DCS update I did install Winwing Orion base and it's software. It appears SimApp Pro (WW software) needs to communicate with DCS two way (in/out) which causes massive spikes in CPU FPS/timeframe. The video below saved me a lot of fuss finally. -
Hi, it's not horizontal, it's angled a bit. I made myself a seat with shelves for the throttle and the joystick. I don't have a desk for gaming and didn't have any idea where I could put my HOTAS, so one day I found online some CNC plans, I cut it, put it together and started dreaming about building full cockpit I'm glad you've it sorted. It takes some time to adjust the handle - you're going to love it, it works great. If you guys bought yourself Winwing Orion and suddenly noticed dramatic FPS drop, here is why: Orion messing up with FPS video.

Thanks for this one. I went this way, it didn't give me much more FPS, but I regained smoothness. No more stutter. I must have done something with settings, some drivers, no idea. If some of us didn't see downgrade in FPS after an update, and some did, that's prsonal/system problem, not DCS fault I believe. -

I wish ED did something to optimise for VR. Every update we get hit on FPS. I had stable 45FPS before last update, now 30 barely. The same settings, just ED updated DCS... (edit: I apologise, it was not ED and DCS update fault. At the same time I installed Orion 2 Winwing base and it's software were massively dropping frames). -
1. If I'd lock my flight lead or wingman on my HSD via DL, the hexagon would appear in HMCS as it should and exactly where it should, but not for long - it gets misaligned often and goes back to where is should be over and over again. Tested in RWS mode. 2. In Dogfight mode many times it happens that target is being locked but the circle that should be on it, is misaligned and away from it or even outside the HUD sometime - like if radar was tracking different target than I designated (even if there is no any other target around). Then it require to re-designate and designate it again, so the circle shows over the target where it should be. Both cases noticed on MP servers. Playing in VR. I have no experience with this being/not being an issue on a flat screen. I'm sorry, I can't do screenshot in VR now. Cheers!

Is it normal that TGP cursor moves slow and is easy to point on target while Mavericks in bore or visual are very sensitive and hard to point on target? I had that with TM Warthog, now with WinWing F16 Throttle (in both cases I use mini joystick on the throttle). Doing curves for axis wouldn't work since it affects both TGP and Mavericks cursor equally. Is it going to stay like that or could we have slower cursor for Mavericks? Targeting with Mavs or even bore sighting these is a pain... Cheers!

I'll check it out. Thank you,

correct as-is Viper energy retention, or lack of it.
MartinVoy replied to b0bl00i's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Check key binding, maybe you have Airbrakes on and gears out... I'm not kidding. DCS reads key binding on HOTAS. On some servers I must remember, if I landed switch the gears up and airbrakes off before respawn, otherwise I'd respawn with airbrakes on or gear down. I know it sounds silly, but sometime it's easy to overlook -maybe not landing gear, but airbrakes for sure. -
Hi guys and gals. I just got my Orion 2 and F16 throttle. It can handle 8 axis only, so some rotary encoders must be set as rotary/encoders/buttons and cant be used as axis. The question is how to change sensitivity of these encoders. I've bond one to HMCS and another to BARO ALT, but getting HMCS from 0 to 100% or changing BARO by 100m takes ages, like hundreds of rotary turns. Thanks!

It took a month for me. I've ordered end of March, it arrived yesterday.
-
I feel the same about friction system. I feel lucky to have F16 one, so the upper rail supports it a bit against falling down. But without it, it would be either falling down or hard to make precise moves. Viper handle works great. The base - I was disappointed that new version Orion2 is almost full plastic.
-
Worth every penny. Mine arrived yesterday. So smooth and precise... I love it. The handle is amazing, full metal. The base was a bit of a disappointment - not big - it works great, but most of it is plastic, including base plate... The sliders are cast metal, what was a surprise, but the base is plastic. Plenty of switches and rotary to choose from. The software (WinWing's SimApp Pro) has no any manual and it is all guess work. Despite of all above, the feeling is just amazing, it feels so smooth and heavy in a way, but precise - one can feel the big piece of metal is rolling on rails when moving the handle - much more precise than Warthog. A great toy for Viper drivers, but if you think about having one base and two different handles (F16 and F18 let's say), swapping it would be a pain in the ass. At least half an hour I believe. Maybe 20 min if someone is talented DIY Forget about changing the handle between fights. The cut-off switch works great and gives a really nice feel when going from OFF to IDLE - inside the game - instead of using just a regular/any switch. New_project.mp4

no change Has the G-onset been nerfed again?
MartinVoy replied to bkthunder's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
I didn't notice any difference, although sometime it feels like Viper is falling into an infinite energy state around 450knts sea level and up to 1000-1500ft. Sometime it bleeds energy from around 8.xG to whatever and sometime with the same conditions it can fly 8.xG for so long GLOC comes in full and Viper accelerates despite of pulling the stick to the max. It feels wired, when I expect it to bleed and it's not happening and then in similar conditions it's bleeding energy. I'm speaking about MP dogfight, clean jet, less than 75% of fuel. -
Hi. After the recent and the previous update the VR pointer (blue cross) is not fading away/ doesn't disappear. A bit frustrating to see it floating whole time around the screen while playing (sitting in the cockpit) - I didn't check other airframes, but for sure it happens in Viper. Specs: VR: Reverb G2 CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X Other: 64GB, NVMe, 3080Ti. Cheers!

From your experience, does ED update liveries? I assume if livery isn't in DCS data base it wouldn't show up to people who didn't download it and this way only people who have it can see it while flying on MP server.
