The Digital Coalition Air Force (DCAF) is pleased to announce that it is opening recruitment for its upcoming training season that begins next January and finishes at the close of March. If you are someone who wants to sharpen their skills and get the best out of what DCS has to offer, this group is for you. We are fielding applications for controllers (whether ATC, GCI, JTAC/FAC), F-15E Strike Eagle, and F/A-18C Hornet. We are not accepting applications for the F-16C Fighting Falcon for our next Training Season. DCAF is a milsim group with most of its community based in the EU. We pride ourselves on our excellent training syllabus, instructors, and the ops that we offer our pilots. Presently, DCAF alternates between training and operations season every quarter, in which the former is used to train new cadets to the required squadron standard, and to sharpen the skills of our current aircrew. We undertake this rigorous training program to ensure that all our aircrew meet the standards required for our ops season, fit into the squadron, and get the best from the incredible campaign our hardworking mission makers create. Our times: During training season we fly every Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 1830GMT/BST. It is a minimum requirement to regularly attend every Thursday, and dependent on some squadrons attend twice a week due to training workload and meaningful progression. Our squadrons: F-15E Strike Eagle – (v)USAF 335th ‘Chiefs’ The 335th ‘Chiefs’ is DCAF’s largest and premier air to air squadron, operating the F-15E Strike Eagle. Thanks to the incredible power of the F-15E’s -229 engines, APG-70 and load carrying capacity, the Chiefs has the perseverance to stay on station longer, fly higher, and fly faster than any other type in DCAF’s roster. If you are interested in rigorous training, getting a comprehensive air to air understanding, being part of complex operations, immersive experiences, and getting the best out of what DCS has to offer, this is the squadron for you. By the end of the training season, you will be able to operate as a wingman in a flight, execute fourship tacform and BVR in any weather, at any time of day; all without datalink. You will be trained in both DCA and OCA fundamentals in order to tailor the squadron’s air to air tasking according to the mission at hand; including an appreciation of ACM execution. Air to air refuelling, day or night, will be the norm. You can read more about us and how we undertake training season here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/337734-the-vusaf-335th-chiefs-strike-eagles/#comment-5327833 F-16C Fighting Falcon – (v)USAF 119th ‘Jersey Devils’ The 119th 'Jersey Devil's is DCAF's dedicated Wild Weasels, specializing in hunting and killing enemy SAMs and SHORAD systems, clearing a path for the other squadrons. We are looking for pilots that accept high risk, that are flexible and able to solve problems fast and creatively as they pop up. We are usually first in and last to leave, and we rely on our own ability to defend against air and ground threats alike! If you like fast and dynamic problem solving, and love flying the "racing model" of all airframes, then you might have what it takes to be a Devil! The 'Jersey Devils' are not accepting applications at this time. F/A-18C - (v)RAAF 75sqn 'Magpies' (v)RAAF 75 Squadron is DCAF's newest addition to the line-up with the ambition to provide unparalleled versatility and multirole capability to operations. Commitment, tenacity, and self-improvement are core values to our squadron's culture. After completing our comprehensive training program you'll be adept at roles ranging from CAP against 4th generation threats in BVR or WVR, to low-level strike and aerial interdiction against the toughest of targets - regardless of the environment or conditions. Join the Magpies and learn to seek and strike. Combined Controller Wing: We've always cared about having Air Traffic Controllers and Aerospace Battle Managers be commonplace in our operations, providing a great setting for both experienced and aspiring controllers to hone their skills. We’re looking for 2 new controllers to join our team in 2025. Training Season you can expect to be supporting aircrew alongside other controllers for a more rich learning environment, with 1:1 tutoring available as you progress through the online lessons and assessments, this will prepare you for our Operations Season in October. Note: Combined Arms is required for ATC roles and Simple Radio Standalone is used for radio communications, we provide free licences for LotAtc on our servers. --------------------------------- If you are interested in joining DCAF, you can either get in contact with a recruitment officer directly from one of the above squadrons, or you can get in contact with any of the links below. Depending on the squadron selected, applications will involve an introductory talk and checkrides in order to filter the appropriate applicants, which will be explained by your recruitment officer. It is a good idea to be familiar with the module that you are applying for (i.e. ability to air to air refuel and understand basic combat systems), as these will be assessed during the checkrides. Due to the nature of our training and operations seasons, you should be confident that at least the first 6 months of DCAF will generally be free for you will be able to attend(holidays, annual leave etc. of course are absolutely fine). Ideally, candidates who will have a predictable schedule for the next year are preferred. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the training season. Check out our squadron page here: Kind regards, DCAF Recruitment Team https://discord.gg/dcaf https://dcafoc.wixsite.com/home

I'm a little bit confused now though, since if I have it set to 120Hz with both monitors, that's lower than what I used to have. My previous two monitors were the Gigabyte M27Q and a BenQ 144Hz monitor, both being 1440p. Currently all monitors use DP cables. In theory this would be even lower with bandwidth. I can try, but if I set both monitors to 60Hz(definitely lower in bandwidth) I'll see if the mouse still disappears on the right side of the monitor. But is the mouse disappearing known to be tied to bandwidth directly?
-
Hello, I recently upgraded my monitor from the Gigabyte M27Q X to the MSI MPG 271QRX monitor. Of course due to overall bandwidth that the 4090 can give(I still have my Gigabyte M27Q as a secondary monitor set to 120Hz), for most use the MSI monitor is set to 120Hz so the Pimax headset can be recognised. But it seems now whenever I boot the Pimax Play tool the mouse becomes invisible on the right hand side of the MSI monitor. The only way to resolve this is by closing the Pimax tool and then resetting the refresh rate of the monitor via Windows(I don't get the option to change the refresh rate on the monitor when the Pimax tool is running for some reason). This is pretty inconvenient, and would really hope we can find a solution on that. Cheers Peter

Sun visor helps a lot. But there are some angles(like the sun pointed directly at it) there's not much you can do about, but seems somewhat realistic imo in that case

Can you be more specific? The TEWS did change its audio around February and is certainly quieter than other RWR equivalents. Are you saying you can't hear any audio at all? When you are locked by another radar you should get a single 5 second beep. Likewise with a launching warning you should get a 5 second dotted beep.

Last night I flew with 8 or so Strike Eagles on an air to air mission, no one reported radar issues. -
How to set escort distance from bombers
Panny replied to BlackFalco's topic in User Created Missions General
It has been a while since I've looked at this, but I believe there is a follow command you can use in which you can set the offset from one group to the other -
I applaud that ED is at least working on this, and there are legitimate debates between realism and gameplay. I have noticed a drop on CW era PvP servers because of spotting changes. I know it's part of tactics etc. to not be observed; but for many it isn't fun when you can't spot anything; you know there's a bad guy trying to get you, and if you do get tally the moment you look away it's not guarantee you'll reacquire. Ultimately I view spotting dots as a mechanism to fill in the gaps as to what the game engine can't do. Current rendering doesn't account for things like the glint or reflection of an aircraft, for example, or other subtle hints that help with spotting. Anti-aliasing options and sharpening do affect your spotting experience (MSAA tends to be the best. In VR the other options are hopeless). It's unfortunate because you can get good spotting but that involves rolling down your resolution(I'm a Crystal user). At 200% super sample in the foveated area dots are nigh impossible to spot and you're jsut relying on the game's default rendering(which can be tricky with phasing LODs coming in and out in the 2-5nm band). In comparison, I ramp down the resolution to 70% and spotting becomes pretty easy - but completely renders the point of my getting this headset to be pointless lol. There's something about the ppd of the Reverb G2 that seems to be a pretty good sweetspot from what I've seen, hence I tuned my resolution to be closer to that. Hoepfully future patches resolve this as I'd very much enjoy the visual fidelity of the Crystal alongside the dot spotting capability of the G2

Any EU-based squadrons that fly afternoon or early evening?
Panny replied to Hadeda's topic in Jets Squadrons
That said, I think a big emphasis is really how casual or serious you want to go as that will kind of define time commitments. Casual groups will typically result in shorter ops(unless people are having technical problems which can have a higher incidence rate and volatility). More 'serious' groups will probably have longer briefs, missions, and debriefs. In my case being in the UK and starting 1830 my time, on a Thursday night I hope to be able to finish between 2200-2230. The key thing honestly, with whatever group you go to, is estimating whether you like the people or not. Everything is kind of secondary to that. If you really like the guys then you'll be far more likely to want to invest in time and be part of a 'serious' group or whatever else. Best of luck in finding the right home for you and happy to help if you would like more advice -

Panny replied to Hadeda's topic in Jets Squadrons
Am not too sure what would be defined as early evening, however these may be your picks(but it depends on how serious you want to go): (albeit recruitment won't occur until later in the year) They both start 1830Z (well, DCAF is 1830 GMT or BST, so it accounts for daylight savings). Otherwise I suspect if it's very much afternoon focussed you'd have to consider finding a Middle Eastern or Indian group Cheers, Peter @dutchili (for visibility in case I misrepresented your group) In terms of something that may be more initially casual, Wild Wolves could be a place to look(they're predominantly UK based so I suspect their timings are earlier?) -
Truthfully I'm probably in the sunk cost fallacy state. I have a lot of friends that fly it with me, and we've invested a lot of time into campaigns, missions and training. It's really difficult to let go of the module because of everything else around it and the last year of effort my friends and I had put into it. We knew from release there would be bugs etc. but had always assumed it would mature through(and frankly, exciting features to receive later down the line to learn and grow with the module). So I still fly the F-15E regularly. It has some fantastic features that set it apart. But, if I were starting from scratch and thinking about the potential investment of my friends I into a module, knowing such a stagnant/uncertain future? Eurofighter Typhoon can't come soon enough for us

While some of the auto generated stuff can look a little weird here and there, overall I think Sinai is the best map in DCS. I plan to upload a mission at some point with all the markers of points of interest. The number of unique structures and scenery, particularly in Cairo and Alexandria is breathtaking. Even flying in more sparse areas the scenery feels more alive than most. My biggest issue is that terrain devs don't tend to help you with finding these places from the get go. Once you actually start looking and find them, there's so much to enjoy.

Hello all, Love the DCS Strike Eagle? I certainly do. Some of my friends and I have set up a Discord community server in which likeminded people can jump on and talk about our favourite module. It's set up in a way to encourage sharing tips, learn from one another and get to know the wider community. There is however one rule. No discussing the RB/ED situation. The Discord is focussed on enjoying the module right now, and there are plenty of places online where you can comment on the matter. This is a hard rule, and no one is exempt from it as we want to encourage a positive community that enjoys what it has now. Looking forward to seeing you there: https://discord.gg/nMFNr8YGSz If you're leading a virtual squadron and are interested, I recommend you get in contact with me. I can set up a custom role for you such that your squadron is featured, and you'll have appropriate permissions to promote your group in channels. Cheers, Peter

I would recommend the next time you attempt to boot it in VR is to look at the DCS.log in saved games. You should see an error message which may say some sort of openxr failure. I had a similar issue and found that it was failing to boot openxr. It was only when I replaced the openvr.dll in bin-mt of the DCS core with the one provided by openxr did it start playing ball

Hi Dunky, This isn't the direct answer you want, but if you're just getting into server administration, I really recommend you check out Special K's DCS Server Bot function. Admittedly it ties into Discord, but it does give you information such as server performance, as well as many other tools that can really empower you. Cheers

Yep, that's what I had to do as well. I ended up using DDU afterwards and the Pimax hasn't had an issue since.

Yeah, so DCAF CW would run separately to its 4th gen counterparts, and base gameplay would revolve around the mid-70s. The logic and rationale for it still being part of DCAF is that it can quite easily grow out of the existing infrastructure DCAF has, which means it's a fair bit less work than going from scratch, given that the administrative processes are already in place. -

This page is linked here is an overview. If you hop into the Discord and look up the noticeboard channel a few weeks back you'll see the Cold War announcement. It's too long an announcement to post here. But the TL;DR is it gives an outline as to what the syllabus will look like and our current priorities to get it working. Feel free to DM me if you have any Qs. Apologies it's nothing that can be offered now, but I've seen it's a common trend that there aren't 'big time' Cold War groups out there just yet, so I thought I'd just mention there is something on the horizon. -

In future months DCAF will be running up a Cold War component focussing on the Phantom and Mirage F1, but this will take time to run up.
