Carb flooding ( discussion, not bug report! )
WarbossPetross replied to Richard Dastardly's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Wikipedia says our Mosquito FB Mk VI (first flight in 1942) had Merlin 21, 23 and 25. Bendix-Stromberg pressure carbs didn't come until 1943, and only for Merlin 66, 70, 76, 77 and 85, i.e. we ain't getting them. So yeah, as it is we're at the mercy of Ms Shilling and a little half-barrel roll before we dive. -
mosquito now in free trial Trial License?
WarbossPetross replied to Kilted_Kerbal's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I second, not available for trial at the moment. -
Binding both RPM levers to 1 Axis?
WarbossPetross replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Right, I forgot about RPM != intake manifold pressure. Am dumb. -
Binding both RPM levers to 1 Axis?
WarbossPetross replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Well, it is possible on literally every two-engine aircraft we have right now, don't see why this one would be any different... -
Так-то да, возле морской воды и воздух соленый, так что коррозия цветет пышным цветом. Что не отменяет возможности сделать кабину в состоянии "не через месяц"
-
Also seen in MiG-21 that went from no hunch (early versions) to big hunch (SMT version) to a bit smaller hunch (Bis version that we have now).
-

I think we're once again reaching the point when the discussion is not really about the plane anymore...

DCS: F/A-18C Features Roadmap for Early Access
WarbossPetross replied to Kate Perederko's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
ACLS is what immediately comes to mind, the Tomcat has it but our Hornet does not (in the game, IRL it does ofc). Then again, the Tomcat ACLS is more of an emergency measure seeing how its glideslope is a little off. Hopefully they look into it. -
If the F-16C that we have now is how Meg Ryan looked you-know-when, this just about describes how she looks now. SMH...

If anyone decides to do the Phantom, E and J/S (how do these two differ?) are pretty much a given. There's no way to bypass making the variant just about as widespread as a MiG-21, and there's even less way to bypass making the titular naval interceptor that was intended all along. And the fact that they differ significantly pretty much explains why nobody has (officially) taken up that particular gauntlet. We know HB is making the Forrestal class that uses bridle-type catapults that the Phantom (and the Skyhawk actually!) uses, so there's that, I guess.

ECM is really not a problem. EW is one of the most classified topics in any military for reasons too obvious to explain. All ECM systems, FC3 MiG-29S included, are simulated as simple white noise ECM in DCS, so that's what we would get because ED won't be able to model anything else anyway.

Air-to-Air radar/TGP target correlation
WarbossPetross replied to WarbossPetross's topic in JF-17 Thunder
I'm aware of that. However F-14 has the ability to slave the radar to TCS and in reverse, most likely to hold the target in case it notches the radar. That is also a function of IRST on Soviet fighters. It's not just for sneeki-breeki attacks. In fact in both of these cases you may lock the target via TCS/IRST first and then home the radar onto it with one press of a button. What I want to know is, can you do that on the Jeff? Is there any communication from the pod back to FCS in A2A mode, or is it a one-way street? -
Most of modern DCS aircraft support air-to-air sensors target correlation. MiG-29 and Su-27 can track the same target with both the radar and IRST. F-14, F-16 and F/A-18 can correlate targets with radars and targeting pods (or TCS). As far as I know in all of these cases one sensor can keep track of the target and guide weapons if the other sensor loses track. With JF-17 I know you can slave the pod to the radar contact and get the pod to track it. So... what does that give us? Does the pod communicate with WCS somehow, position, range and all that? Or is it only for visual identification? And how is it IRL?

what to expect from Su-27 module?

Есть такая маза. Не то двигатель, не то сопротивление подвесов. Вроде в октябре должны поправить.

If you mean MiG-29 the last we heard from them is they still want to release it after BS3.
-
Nope, no AMRAAMs in the ban list. Not sure about JSOWs, maybe also legal. To be fair they did allow all aircrafts for both sides, otherwise that would be a very subtle way of saying it's a PvE server without saying it's a PvE server. At this point I want a Vietnam map, the F-4, the F-8 and the MiG-17 way more than the F-15E seeing how I already have the two other planes anyway.

Relax. Basically 95% of this thread since page 12 has nothing to do with its title.

Question regarding the range marks on the radar scope ...
WarbossPetross replied to TOViper's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Does that mean I can actually fly Viggen now? Because I couldn't see white lines on that green display if my life depended on it! -
I've been watching a multiplayer stream of a REDFOR pilot, can't remember which server, and couldn't help but notice in the server popup message that they ban LS-6, LD-10 and basically half of the JF-17 arsenal. And yes, that includes SD-10! They've banned the only more or less REDFOR jet that's more or less equivalent to all the Hornets and Vipers loading themselves to the grills with AMRAAMS (way more of them than what JF-17 can carry BTW). Oh yes, if memory serves R-77 and R-27ET are banned as well. Absolutely no bias going on, no, of course not.
-
In that regard it only helps that the A-10 is ridiculously easy to fly. Like, if you don't practice with other people in multicrew you don't even need a trainer jet. The Hog is slow and purposeful and will not intimidate you with stalls and rattles despite being able to turn on a dime. Once you are more or less confident with the Hog you will have a much easier time graduating to, say, the Hornet. Yes, it lacks in A2A department but that takes more skill at holding your plane in the air which the Hog will help you develop with hardly any stress.
