  1. 2 weeks. ;)
  2. But there was in 1991... I know the C was not in existance at that point. Reading W. L. Smallwoods Book flying the A-10 in the Gulf War. It would be great to have scenarios based on some of the actual missions that were flown at that time and recounted in the book. Even though DCS models the C and in 91 it was the A that was flying the combat. Thoughts?
  3. The sixth?! That's only 2 days away! Hoo ya! I'm on a day off the 6th. Perfect.
  4. How do we know when the tank is killed? Do they always blow up/smoke? Reading the great book "warthog" by William L Smallwood, and the author talks about pilots diving on Tanks, firing into the top/rear, at 8,000-10,000' with the Gau-8 and "often they were not able to start the tank burning-or at least cause a fire they could see. Most of the tanks that were hit burned inside, but they did not find that out until after the war."
  5. Just like R/L. Trim trim trim. The most used button on your WH should be the trim. You should practice trimming until you do it without thinking. If you adjust anything you need to re trim. Practice without the auto pilot until your thumb is sore. Allow me to sum up in six words: practice, practice, practice, trim, trim, trim. ;)
  6. Much beefier sound. Love it. Beta 5 update. :) Tell me that would not be awesome with a buttkicker strapped to your chair. Gau-8 firing at 1:13 Wonder if I could use that as my ring tone? Have that go off as a ringer with vibrate on? lol.
  7. Agree! That would be sweet. :)
  8. I suspect once Nevada comes out there will be "Afganistan" missions.
  9. Had to invert my Saitek Pro Pedals axis. Otherwise I found I had the "auto brakes" set to max, and had to step on the brakes for the entire take-off roll... my landings were nice and short. ;)
  10. Your landing is only as good as your approach. Get a nice stabilized approach. Be on speed on AOA and remember to flare.
  11. Agree with the following qualification: Lights should be on during periods of darkness or restricted visibility conditions.
  12. LOL. I completly missed that until you pointed it out above! Now when I went back to your post I see the humour in it. ;)
  13. If I ventilate the enemy armour with 30mm, look over my shoulder and see it smoking, blow up and or on fire, I am happy.
  14. Check out this thread. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60454&highlight=rearm
  15. The A-10A (T.O. 1A-10A-1) manual says: "Normal brakes will be available if the left engine is started first. Should the right engine be started first, pull the emergency brake handle." The left hydraulic system powers the normal brakes. So if you start the left eng you get the left eng hyd pump running which gives you hyd pressure to operate the wheel brakes. The right eng powers the right hyd pump which gives you brakes off the right eng hyd pump when the emerg brake handle is pulled. No anti-skid off the right side "emerg brakes". At least this is my understanding from the manual.
  16. Here's a site with some links on this page to show slo-mo impact of A-10 30mm on tanks. I would not want to be anywhere near the aim point of that GAU-8 monster. Almost forgot... here is the link: http://www.thewarthogpen.com/videos.html
  17. Ooh better! :)
  18. Maybe that's why they give them M-16's to the ground crews... to deal with unruly pilots! :gun_rifle::pilotfly:
  19. Very nice! +1 rep  Thanks
  20. WOT!? Vapour trails? Video Please :)
  21. 2 weeks. ;)
  22. That is a ZPU-1 14.5MM ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN http://www.toadmanstankpictures.com/zpu1.htm
  23. Merry Christmas to Jim M, Matt, the Beta team and especially to all of the incredibly talented Eagle Dynamics team responsible for bringing the incredible DCS A-10C to life. Best of the season to you and yours! :santa:
  24. Found it! The T.O. 1A-10A-1 manual states in the emergency section under landing emergencies, single engine failure or fire: "External tank jettison is highly recommended for both performance and handling considerations." There you have it. The procedure for dumping fuel in the A-10 is to jettison your external fuel tanks. The manual mentions nothing about any aircraft capabilty of dumping fuel from own internal tanks. ;) As a side note, many commercial jet aircraft do not have the ability to dump fuel. ie the Bombardier CRJ's (same engine family as the A-10) and at least some versions of the A320. In the event that weight is needed to be reduced prior to landing, you have to simply burn it off.
  25. I resemble that remark! Ah the good old days of Flanker O club, beta testing... IRC, Headcase & crew, and those smelly trout! Lobo slaps Chaos around a bit with a large trout.
