Your helmet visor is dirty. Clean it.

Fertilizer, lime, aeration, don't cut it too short and keep it watered. ;)

Had a great flight last night. It felt like a real break through for me. Flew a custom refueling practice mission. Self, Wingman, day, VFR. Used the tanker tacan to locate and close with tanker. I tried to get Wingy to take fuel first while I hung off tankers left side. Wingy had some kind of issue and while he acknowledged my call for him to hit the tanker, he would not close and connect... So I called him to rejoin on me and I requested fuel from the tanker. Cleared pre contact, cleared to connect. It was far from perfect, but I was able to connect and after several attempts, take on approximately 6500 lbs of gas. It was the first time I have completely filled the tanks! I then slid over to the tankers right wing and gave command for wingman to take fuel from Texaco. To my surprise this time he slid smartly into position and took on full tanks like the AI pro he apparently is. Once his refueling was complete there was nice vapor trail from the probe as he backed away from the tanker. I had him move back into formation and I then slid behind the tanker to take a splash and topped up my tanks. Between the two of us we took about 13,000 lbs of fuel from the tanker. Tanks full we departed the tanker. Charged the whole thing to wife's credit card! My most satisfying mission to date. :) My hat goes off to the pros that do this in real life, day, night, in the crap. No to the hand brake. Yes to the Chocks.

Thank you very much! This darker shade of grey is appreciated by my eyes. I tried to give you more rep but it wont let me! So I give you two thumbs up instead.  Cheers

He forgot all about the canopy actuator in the .15 seconds it took my seat to rocket up the rails of his jet.

LOL. And I can only imagine what the virtual guys in the tanker were saying when they looked back and saw my canopy repeatedly thumping into the tail of their airplane with the nose of my jet going up and down, up and down. An A-10 lowrider with air suspension! :D

Hi just a short note on something that I found interesting. I was practicing aerial refueling the other day, the tanker at the end of its refueling track descended for landing, I flew in formation with it and landed. Taxied clear of the runway, following the tanker. Going down the taxi way he stopped rather quickly (I was following a wee bit too close) and I could not stop before ending up with my canopy right underneath his horizontal stab. I opened my canopy and it partially extended coming into contact with the bottom of the tankers horizontal stabilizer. ...ok now the interesting part... when the canopy opened and contacted the tanker tail the upward force of the canopy opening mechanism had the effect of compressing my nose wheel strut! luv it!

IMO the beauty of a sim is that once you slap down your $ you can fly it as you choose. With the incredible depth of DCS A10C there are countless ways to enjoy it.

Thanks for that. The open office doc would be super. The grey does not work for me either. I need a darker shade of gray. Cheers!

Looking forward to the patch. It's done when it's done.

The ILS info as presented on the HSI and ADI is fine. The yellow steering bars (flight director) are not working properly. These bars should provide you with steering commands (direct you) to maintain the loc and slope. They do not do this they repeat the loc and slope info... this is the problem.
-
Nice vid. You should have stowed the steering bars though. They are porked. Hopefully they will be patched in the future.

Is there both localizer AND beacon tone for ILS
lobo replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The yellow steering bars (flight director) are not working correctly but you can still do an ILS using the raw gs and loc data from ADI and HSI with steering bars stowed. More difficult but still very doable. -
They are broke. Stow them. See this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.ph...&highlight=ils __________________

There is such depth to this simulation it will take a long time until I am comfortable with it, never mind mastering it. Which btw is exactly how I like my sims. :)

My versions of System/Caution and Weapon Usage checklists

Thank you! Very nice. +1 on the way. -
The A2A refueling is incredibly hard. I do need to practice it more but I cant help but wonder if it is this difficult in real life... Might try it with the view zoomed out a bit next time. More peripheral vision might help. I can get a full load of fuel but it takes many reconnects. Meanwhile my wingies are all flaming out as I try to get a few more drops... lol Have a peek at this kewl vid. AR Blue Angel FA-18. I know the probe and drogue used here is different than the A-10 uses but still a great vid from the cockpit of the Hornet while taking gas and going through clouds. commentary from the Hornet driver.

Very nice! Thanks. +1

There must be a way to do this without having the MFCD displayed 3 times? In the video it appears you will have the MFCD as normally displayed in cockpit, you then have a copy of the MFCD exported in a corner of the screen, then you have the third touch screen copy of the MFCD as displayed on the IPAD? Is there a way to avoid the exported MFCD in the corner of screen, without having a second monitor?

Same question for me. Thanks!

Determining the correct way to take-off / Land on runaway
lobo replied to siefex's topic in Bugs and Problems
Always try to takeoff and land into wind. You will get airborne and land using less runway. If the winds are 140/20 (coming from 140 degrees at 20 knots) you would prefer to land on RWY 14. If the winds are 090/30 RWY 09 would be most directly into wind. Use the CDU for winds aloft info. WAYPT page. There may be times when ATC gives you instructions to a runway and you after checking the wind info on your CDU determine that it may be more prudent to divert to another field where the winds are blowing more directly down the runway. The runways are named based on their magnetic orientation. ie RWY 14 will be pointing 140 degrees. Often when ATC gives you the runway, a quick glance at the HSI will help orientate yourself with the RWY. -
If you switch your CDU to POSINFO page you see the OAT (outside air temp) displayed in the bottom right corner. You can switch between celsius and farenheit.

Thanks! The HUD IAS in the hover was showing between 107-115. The IAS going with the wind on the high speed tower buzz job was 405. I think G/S was 495.
