Community A-4E-C v2.3 (May 2025)
One Eyed Ross replied to plusnine's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
So, after further review (and recognizing that sometimes people can be...uh....) I have figured out what happened. As I mentioned, I did have to redo my HOTAS settings a bit, since there were some new key bindings & co., with the update. Seems someone (who shall remain nameless) inadvertently loaded the OLD settings for his plane and was hitting the air brake switch instead of the one he wanted....of course, being focused on something else, that person noticed the plane was flying oddly but failed to see the "speedbrake open" light in his cockpit..... I will have a long talk with said individual and remind him that drinking whiskey while doing key bindings is not a good idea.... -

That is exactly what happened. Once I re-tuned the axis for my stick, things are all better now. Best plane out there. -

ok, took the girl out for a spin today in OpenBeta. Had to reconfigure my HOTAS a bit, and bind some keys & stuff (which was expected). She flies a bit differently now than before, but that might just be me and 2.8 learning to get along. Will take me a few days to get used to things. Again, thanks for the hard work! -

For everything you guys have done with this aircraft, THANK YOU! I have over 400 hours in the A-4, and LOVE flying it. It really is my go to module to fly. -
Conversion of Units between Metric and Imperial

I never gave this much thought, but I can see why/where/when it would be confusing. One of those things I just learned to do when I lived in Germany and drove an American car....you just get used to doing it after a while. Would be a useful tool... -
Who wants to be a gunner or navigator in a B17 during a 3+ hour flight?

And here I am hoping to get an A-6 Intruder to fly....(with a real cockpit, not the VSN mod that is great for AI). -
A-4E (mod), F/A-18 and now the OV-10 get most of my stick time, then the AV-8 every once in a while, then the Flaming Cliffs and Frogfoot sometimes...the F-5 and 86 rarely, the P-47 I haven't even had an hour in yet.

Will for sure second the recommendation for IainChristie on Youtube. His videos and missions are finest kind. -
OK, I am in love with this. It'll never replace the A-4, but having a period correct AFAC, and the coming Skyraider, the world is getting better and better. Is it perfect? No, but hey, nothing in beta-testing phase ever is. I am just thankful someone with the skill set to work on this is doing it. Looking forward to having working radios. To the guys at Split Air, merci!

I have a feeling my A-4 stick time will diminish when the -7 comes out.....

1. Fly level or slightly climbing. Any attempt to drop these things while in a dive of any kind will have unfortunate consequences. 2. Try to be above 400 ft AGL. Any lower than that might have unexpected results. 3. Practice. Practice some more. Than practice again. I like using them on SAM sites. Takes most of it out in one pass. Zuni is probably more realistic, but man, those clusters taking out a SAM site are fun. Sidekick has a great video on using them: -
Hey, I don't wear a kilt. Mutton. Mint Sauce, mint sauce, mint sauce.

My problem is I have to figure out the A2A refueling bugaboo before I can hit the Falklands in an A4.....

Not as much of a screw up as you'd think. As a guy who spent time in the Fulda Gap (two tours) the GSFG and follow on forces were not something we wanted to face. Our life expectancy was less than 72 hours....

Say, has anyone else been having issues with Autopilot? When I use it, about 1/3 of the time the aircraft loses all sense of trim...even when disengaged, it still wants to roll uncontrollably. Any ideas? -
For what it is, I am pleased. It is (obviously) in early access, and has the issues associated with that that we should expect. Geographically, though, it is GREAT. As others have mentioned, it has the shear size to be of great use in a lot of naval battles. And the nooks and cranny approach to Terra del Fuego is awesome. Great work, and a "well done" to all concerned.

I'm in the middle of getting the map downloaded now. Had to DL OpenBeta, so I've been in DL Hell this morning. I know it will be worth the wait.

Ah...that might be my issue. I thought early access also ran on release versions....
