Dear oculus rift cv1 users. Is it really worth it!
reemit0772 replied to boedha68's topic in Virtual Reality
Hey Monty, that's a good description of the DCS VR experience, particularly the bit about the "natural feeling" in OPF. -
Thanks Hansangb, I had tried the powermgmt thing but not the registry edit. I'll try that next. I have been reading that the Rift is not compatible with some USB controllers too.
-
Interesting about the windows 10 problem. sounds like the same thing. I'm on W10 too. Hopefully someone's got some ideas re this.
-
me too. It's like a USB interruption once or twice every flight, sometimes with unfortunate timing. Last night I managed to see the A-10 control stick uncommanded fully deflect to the left and the throttles push forward at the same time the tracking was lost from the rift and the visual freezing and tearing occurred. the hourglass was there too. It was not related to a sound output then. I recovered in an inverted dive. Everything I've tried doesn't fix it. USB power mgmt, USB swaps, firmware updates, driver updates, shutting down background services including controller profilers (FAST) and Logitech. I've realised it mirrors the VR loading screen freeze so it could be something SSD, but why would it only affect VR and only DCS. I haven't yet tested in 2.0. Could the Rift be spiking the USB bus on the motherboard. Edit: a reinstall of the oculus drivers, and it's behaving at the moment.

I can't believe that it's only us two. Could it be game related? just now the exact moment my mirage engine flamed out on landing through no gas, it glitched, got the 4 second VR tearing, and got a massive yaw input to the left. It cant be TMWH as there is no pedal input. It could be sound output related as the master caution came on a second after. I have had it happen when a radio message occurs in a campaign too. It happened with both my 980ti and my recent 1080 upgrade so its not specific to the graphic card.

Hey KSD, u still getting this problem?
-
Damn just happened again this time on the spit, EAC mapped to fuel cutoff lost the motor.

ESSAY, PART 3: Landing and stopping.

Very informative and entertaining. Thanks. Yes there are some less than charming Kiwi instructors. Hey I probably even know of him seeing that everyone here knows everybody else here, in Kiwi aviation. -
DCS VR... Is it worth it?
reemit0772 replied to brettt777's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Cool summary of what VR is all about. It's awesome to look forward to fly VR every day. I can't go back to 2D, I have Nvidia 3D vision too, and that was good, but this is great. -
I get them too, I had the ghost key on the F-5E for a bit. The flaps would go to manual and the lights would go to full at the same time. They weren't even mapped to any controller. That was with my old DK2. Now with the CV1 I just get the glitches. Seems to be a buffering type of thing. It just messes with the immersion now not my switches.

Oops sorry Apache, I meant The Museum Relic. I've been flying all modules in DCS so much recently, its messing with my head:thumbup:. -
The Enemy Within DLC

Yep Apache who makes Op Piercing Fury has investigated and says the last update borked nearly all missions. ED working on it. -
Some Wierdness with 1.5.5.60338
reemit0772 replied to reemit0772's topic in The Museum Relic Campaign
Thanks for the quick reply Apache. I'll be interested to hear what you find, completely open to any thoughts on me not getting it right. Looking forward to any of your future DLC campaigns I'll be one one of the first to purchase. Reemit. -
Hi Really enjoying this campaign its a blast. But Mig15 8.3 and 8.4 may have changed after the last update. Before the update I tried and failed 8.3. After the update I could tell something was different. After the instruction do a loop the Su27 went straight to the target no following the waypoints and no voice comms. I managed to complete the mission cos I remembered the objective from the first time I tried it, so I could progress to 8.3, but yet again on that mission no comms. I think the latest update may have borked it. Or am I doing something wrong~?

Thirded! It's another work of art.
-
Wow that's a nice picture Yoyo, looks real.
-
Yes, true that's another aspect. Also I could use the DK2 without glasses, but with the CV1 there's no chance, which shows that the focal length is set differently or something. It's totally a different experience for me. It's still awesome though just a different awesome.
-
Haha awesome, I'm only 52 long way to pension yet, lots of money-no time. Retirement can be lots of time-no money I guess.
-
Just replaced my DK2 with the CV1. Even thought it's a step up in capability, I noticed almost straight away that the depth of the 3D isn't quite what it was in the DK2. That affects the feeling of height and distance particularly in choppers. Lost the sensation of vertigo. Almost wish I had kept the DK2 in that respect, First world problem I guess. Anyone else who had a DK notice that?
-
Yep, I agree entirely, I've been a flight simmer since DI Tornado in 92. All I ever wished for then was better terrain depiction. I am now astonished at what ED and all the devs have done for us and how it looks in VR. I'm only on a DK2 ready to go up to CV1 in the next few weeks. Now I wish for retina spec VR.
-
2.0.4 is now awesome in VR, thanks ED.
-
I agree totally and I reckon most other VR users will too. The modules are all works of art in 2D and totally compelling in 3DVR, and I only have a DK2. I just revisited Mig15bis again tonight, though for the first time in VR, and felt like I was really present in that cockpit. The detail is immaculate, although it's almost impossible to spot bogies with a DK2. Thinking back to Tornado on the Amiga, which was where I started, we have come so far. Which is why I am very happy.
