  2. ED, is there any way you can add “drop external tanks” to the list of commands for our flight/wingman? There is a command for “jettison stores” but obviously that gets rid of ordinance as well. The issue isn’t a failure to drop in a dogfight, it’s the AIs reckless use of afterburner. Especially to “catch up” despite me flying at 300kts and about 3 miles ahead. Took off and flew about 100miles to target. Both wingman and I are carrying 2 AGM-65 on each outer hp plus 2 bags, listening pod and jammer. We get to the target and as we are attacking he tells me “bingo fuel” problem is that Bingo is 2000lbs. I had JUST emptied my tanks and had 6200lbs internal. I order him to jettison and hit the tanker; he dumped his tanks, headed to tanker and ejected in site of it. when my tanks are about 30%-40% full, I’d like to be able to order my flight to drop theirs knowing they are empty without losing bombs. That way they have FAR less drag assisting with the fuel management
  3. As for modules, I’d love some earlier WW2 aircraft like a P-40, Hurricane, BF-109E, etc. 1942 Africa kind of stuff. Also, despite the whining about $10 for a graphically updated F-5, I would pay twice that for a graphically updated Mig-21, UH-1, F-86, Mig-19, Mig-15 or Viggen. Each I would also like to see game improvements 1. Campaign: ‘nuff said. (I’ll pay for it as an expansion too) 2. PLEASE can we get an AI A-6 intruder like you said we were getting like 2-3 years ago? Maybe an AI A-7? We need more than F-18s and F-14s on these Carrier missions and I don’t understand why we still don’t have them. 3. blast/shrapnel effects on troops/soft targets from bombs. I’d love to actually be able to use air burst fuses over FARPS, infantry, etc. Also some improved eye candy with the explosions and damage effects on buildings would be welcome. Ground ordinance explosions are dated.

  5. Been 2 weeks and I’m not sure ED puts out their big patch this Tuesday; only because it’s a big one with 2 campaigns so even if it’s scheduled for this week it will be delayed. BD, how much trouble is it for you to put out a fix? Or is that something that has to come through the ED patch system (so either way we wait for EDs update)
  6. Same…but I went ahead with the mission anyway. When I got the word to tell my wingman to attack, I did just that and hit Flight/engage/mission and rejoin (as usual). I then watched my wingman turn around in full burner and head back the way we came from until he was over the ocean. There, sadly, he ran out of fuel….you know…b/c he was in burner for like 4 minutes so im thinking there needs to be some polishing before the regular one comes. love the era, the choice of war and the F-4 tho
  7. I hadn’t flown the gazelle in about 3 months. Started it up today on a night mission and noticed that the infrared screen image for the M model looks really bad. Tried adjusting the brightness and contrast but it doesn’t look anywhere like it did before…. was there a change made to the IR systems (for the HOT-3) or something?
  8. Mine is going waaaay long at times. I think my issue may be that I’m too low/too shallow when I ask Jester to lock the area and when I hit the pickle; like it thinks I’m pointing at something further down range. Tried it at a 30degree dive and it was fine. Previously i had been about a 10
  9. My DT mode works a treat when I’m practicing. In “combat” though…it’s a train wreck. Which is a pretty good indication that I’m doing something dumb with the jet when digital bullets are flying.
  10. Ok…I’ll start with the “is there gas in it?” Question. Did you pull up your bombing table first and set the appropriate bomb type? Even for DT, the computer needs to know what it’s tossing

  12. I get it sometimes. On those occasions where there really isn’t a conflict and I can’t figure out what the issue is, the problem corrects itself if I restart the game.
  13. It was awhile before i realized how much of your CPU is used by ground vehicles and their motel pathfinding brains. I lowered the initial money for the AI to 300 so they can buy some vehicles but not too much. Then they get their monthly allowance. I give myself 1500 but set my per turn to zero. my point is that I limit the number of ground vehicles both the AI and I have and it helped performance a lot. you can try Retribution but it uses the same engine/sytem as Liberation. It’s kind of an offshoot
  14. Let me take a look at the video above first to see if that helps. I appreciate the offer the more i think about it, the issue might have been self-preservation. I had the AI come in low (500”) and- as the bombs were slick mk-83s, it may have been that a bomb on target would damage the aircraft itself flying over . Is that something the AI is programmed to do? Not drop if the bomb will go off to close ?
  15. Ok…I get the AI acts in mysterious ways, but I’m hoping there is something im doing wrong. Playing a “liberation” campaign in the F-4 (1973 Sinai). My AI wingman and I are supposed to bomb a string of 6 fuel tank things and a building. I load it into the editor and - for the ingress waypoint containing the bombing commands- I deleted the 6 separate bombing commands (one for each tank) and replaced it with one bombing command for the building and the second located between 2 tanks (you will see why). AI wingman armed with 8 mk-83’s. I edited the first bomb command from “Auto” to “iron bomb” and for amount I selected “half” for the second bombing command I selected “iron bombs” and for amount I selected “all”. Figured that 4 mk-83s would take out both the tanks. Hit “group attack” for both Told AI wingman to execute his mission. The result was my AI wingman flying over the first bomb point and dropping exactly one bomb. I told him again to execute his mission and he proceeded to fly around hitting all the waypoints (was a waypoint on each tank from liberation but none had commands). long way to say: how do I get a wingman (or AI) to drop ALL or HALF of their bombs on a point instead of just one. I didn’t want him making 6 different runs (one over each tank) and wanted him to make one over the building and release the rest In one run over the string of tanks. “
  16. I love them, find them infinitely better than the ED/publisher Manuals and would happily pay $$$ for them. While I appreciate the work put in on the F-4 manual, I’m really looking forward to the layout and graphics you get with chucks. So…has anyone heard if Charles is planning on doing an F-4 guide or- assuming he is- how far off it may be? I know the mud hen guide just came out and that module is a year old…but the F-4 has FAR fewer systems and is a much less complex platform: so I wouldn’t think it would take nearly as long.to put together the documentation.
  17. Doesn’t sound simple to me. I didn’t understand half of it. I’ve been lucky- so far- with this issue lately (*knocks wood) BUT, I have had all my key bindings wiped a few times. I think the point is that it shouldn’t happen at all; not whether it’s an “easy”’fix. Like most issues with DCS though, the problem affect some but not others. As a VR user, every new DCS and/or Meta driver update has me crossing my fingers at startup and usually sends me on a google quest starting with “DCS VR not working after…”. its a complex game to say the least. And all of the parts affect other parts. Just the cost of doing business.
  18. Well, I wrote that about 8 months ago and I believe there are has been an update to the damage modeling subsequently. I haven’t played a WW2 mission since then (not b/c of that…just missed having electronic gadgetry to play with) so I can’t comment on observed improvements
  19. Ugh. I uninstalled DCs and am reinstalling now. Hopefully it works
  20. Had 180gb free on my SSD. This patch comes (I didn’t order Afghanistan) and I get a red “disk read error” instead of an “installed” when I look at my SSD, the line indicating how full it is is red and it shows 65gb free. i went into Steam and uninstalled flaming cliffs, marianas map and a few others and no change. It won’t update, continual “disk read error”. Only thing that updated was DCS. What do i do? I verified game cache and everything
  21. How big was this update? I had 180gb free on my 1TB SSD. This downloaded on Steam and I’m getting a red “disk read error”. When I check my SSD, it has 62gb free!!! I even tried uninstalling stuff but it won’t budge
  22. Suspect brightness knob then. I haven’t seen them on any occasion so it wouldn’t be battle damage or sun (included night mission). I’ll check the knob. Didn’t know there was one so could be the issue.
  23. Been flying the F-4 for awile and even though I have the gear and flaps down coming in to land, the AOA indicator lights don’t display. I can use the gauge but I’d rather just glance it the lights since that’s what it’s for. Is there a switch I have to click to turn them on or a dial or something. I looked in the manual and all it said was that the “right”(?) gear needed to be down.
  24. So, the Jester context action button is called “Jester contact action”? How can we be expected to find that?
  25. Yep…that’s the wonderful world of DCS VR. A never ending cycle of turning up and turning down. But…I think it’s unavoidable inasmuch as we fly different modules requiring different levels of resources over different maps also with different requirements. I get a steady 36fps over Syria (now that I turned resolution up to 1.1 on my Quest 3 and left PD at 1.3) but the terrain seems to move a bit…jerky. Not too bad but noticeable when I roll quickly. But on the PG map, at 36fps, terrain is buttery smooth.
