So, with the announcement that the new free map in DCS is going to be a whole lot of island hopping and a whole lot of water, I felt this would be a relevant request to make. Could we please get the ability to tell Jester to switch the MLC filter state?

The default manually steered TWS mode.

First off, it isn't a band-pass filter, it's a band-reject filter. Also called a 'notch' filter (hence the term). There would be two notch filters: One set to exactly the radar frequency, and one varied based on the aircaft's calculated ground-speed. The former is used for sidelobe clutter and self-noise filtering, and is always on. The latter would be used for main-lobe clutter rejection. The idea is that the doppler shift would need to be enough to cause the return's frequency to be outside the notch filters' range in order to make it to the signal processor.

They are a cloud of floating particles, true. But they are a cloud of EXTREMELY REFLECTIVE floating particles. When the return from that cloud gets back to your radar's receiver, it likely saturates the electronics. An analogy to this would be what happens if you shine a bright light in your eyes: You end up with a blotch in your vision that takes time to fade. Likewise, a saturated receiver takes time to desaturate. Now, this desaturation time is measured in fractions of a millisecond, however radar pulses move even faster. So it is entirely possible for the return pulse from the aircraft behind the cloud to reach the receiver while it is still desaturating. And unless the return is strong enough to 'spike' higher than the declining saturation output in the receiver, the receiver will likely not see the aircraft.

If I remember correctly, the main holdup on an A/V-8B+ was a lack of ground radar code native to DCS. RAZBAM doesn't seem interested in doing their own from scratch, as Heatblur or Dekka have done, so they are waiting for ED to get it done for the viper and bug so it becomes part of the core code base. I also remember it being said that a B+ would be a separate module, rather than part of the Night Attack module. Either way, movement on that front is not to be expected until the current aircraft are polished off.

Will this break the workaround mod that allows the TGP to be used from the front seat, in light of Jester not being able to use the TGP?
-
Correct. Although, the other Tomcats need to be in your flight at the moment. There are parts of your Link 4 address that are automatically set based on flight, that currently you cannot alter yourself.
-
AUX is for Link 4C fighter to fighter datalink. Per the manual, under 'Link 4 Controls': The third switch (3) controls power and operational mode of the Link 4. ON turns on and enables the Link 4A data link, OFF disables the system and AUX enables the Link 4C data link.

Turns out that one was just me. Viewing angle combined with my assuming it would indicate earlier than it does. As for Jester... well, that answers that. Now I can get on to actually trying to fly this thing rather than making sure everything is working right!

Ok, so I'm trying to get this turkey off the ground from the cold start instant action scenario. Either doing a Jester Assisted checklist, or one of the quick-start checklists, I end up with the same problem when I try to take off: The airspeed indicator does not deflect, and Jester starts screaming at me for going 'too fast' before I can even get off the ground. Is there a bug at play here, or is there a step that is being missed?

So if the boat needs to change course, the alert fighters would need to realign and store a new saved heading?
-
Likely an artifact of how DCS handles multicrew.
-
So you expected someone to do their due diligence and actually RESEARCH to make sure this isn't normal operating procedure before they engaged in useless quibbling armageddon? That was your first mistake right there.
-
I could swear Heatblur said that the B would be made available to Iran, but only in a fictional variation of imperial markings rather than current IR markings.
-
Then maybe the 'detent' button would toggle between the MIL range and burner range?

If they indeed cover the A-6, hopefully its an A-6E SWIP. Maximum number of toys to play with ^.^

Spudknocker - DCS: F-14B Tomcat | In Depth HOTAS Setup Guide!

This is also the button used for pilot-controlled countermeasures. -
As all new module releases it will be in open beta first. Then, once they are certain it doesn't cause things to burst into flames, it will go to the main branch.

DCS: F-14 - LAUNCH TRAILER - This is War

Please tell me we'll be able to get that music track somewheres ^.^ -
B8 R8: 65/100

Actually, the aircraft would be completely unusable if Jester were disabled and there was no RIO. No RIO/Jester means that you cannot start the aircraft, as a fair chunk of the startup procedure is in the back seat.

Phoenix Tracking Question (notching Missile, vs AWG9)
Sealpup replied to OnlyforDCS's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yes. If the missile loses lock, it falls back to datalink and/or SARH, depending on which is available. So if you have the target lit up in PD STT and the missile commanded active, if the missile is notched it will still home on the target both from AWG-9 reflection and datalink commands encoded into the radar signal. So make sure you switch off MLC filtering so the AWG-9 doesn't get notched when you try that little trick. -
Well, according to a post from RAZBAM, they are in the running for an A-7, but out of the running for an A-6. So that kind of narrows down the field as to who will give us everyone's favorite carrier born bomb-barge.
