^^^ If locking with datalink is possible, that would be real interesting to see operating in game. Sure would give those F15's a run for the money then. Of course, with AWACS now and the Russian jets, it already give a really big advantage. Most the time if there are AWACS in the mission and I fly a russian jet, I hardly ever use the radar, almost always EOS.

Yeah I hate how the tanker evades when you get too close, just makes it worse since it always seems to want to fly into you.

I got 2 300GB Seagate barricuda SATA2. I noticed no improvement in FPS when I got these, just loading time.

I dont know why they bother. Give me some 3d goggles with a decent res like 1280*1024, and with TIR I would be in heaven. Heck with goggles like that for a decent price, I am not sure my wife could pry me from my computer..... got the HOTAS, TIR, iVibe seat...... just need some good goggles not those 800x600 bleh!

Looks like the play seat can be found at almost any store in the US, but sold out most the time, for $299, which isnt all that bad, but is setup for driving sims. Doesnt seem like they have the Flightseat yet, so dont know about that. And the Pilots seat, is 399.99 British Pounds, which is $742, they are so very high.

Never had control of an aircraft radio net, but I used to for an infantry unit. The new digital SINGARS radios dont allow the double transmission, only one person will come through. And there are procedures to clear the net. But there is a problem where you try and key but get nothing, because some jack ass has an open mic, or wont shut the hell up. I think it was keying twice or repeatedly and it would break his comm. And why would you ever want to add static. Would give me a freaking brain tumor. But then again, my fans are so loud on my comp, that the mic picks it up anyways. I really need to put it on the ground. I just know the military spends lots of money to improve radios for better quality comm, so to add noise in........ But I guess if thats what you want, then thats cool. Oh, and the Codec for TS is set by the server, so the admin needs to change that.

Yeah, some people notice tearing better than others, and it really drives them nuts. They probably also cant stand DLP TV's with the color wheel. I guess some just got keener eyes in that regard.

Yes, because it forces the full render of the frame matched with the refresh rate. Without V-sync, the image changes as its scanned down the monitor. And thats tearing. So for simplicity, if the monitor is rendering a box moving left to right with v-sync off you would get * --------------****** *|***********|***** **|***********|**** ***|***********|*** ****|***********|** *****|***********|* ******--------------** Sorry for the asterix, it wouldnt display correctly without em So especially with LCDs that have lower refresh rates like 60Hz, you can notice this with fast movement, like looking around with TIR. I personally keep V-sync off, as I really dont notice. Maybe I just got slow eyes.

Its the same regardless of the core. There was a problem before where Windows was switching cores on you because of load. And this caused the stutter. I believe since then, there have been patches from Windows, and so shouldnt be as much of an issue as before. The problem with using just the task manager to set affinity, is that it resets everytime you open the program. I personally use procaff to set most of my programs that I use a lot with Lockon, like TIR software, TeamSpeak, Cougar Control Panel...etc, to use core 0, and then have LockOn on Core 1.

1280X960 @ 100Hz I picked up this Dell Trinitron off craigslist.com for $40. It only has 1 issue, sometimes when I open windows, it will resize slightly. But heck for $40 I dont care. I would run 1600X1200, but my wife whines.

BS is about the KA-50 only. Dont believe any was lead to believe anything else. Sure there are improvements in other areas, but its all about the Shark.

Dont do this. It will look for those files, and when it doesnt find them it will write to the Error.log. And then you get lag from excessive HDD access. Thats what happened to me.

Wow, nice picture. I got myself a Nikon D50 for a real good price (employee), and have really been messing around with it a bid. I managed to take a few shots of a hawk in-flight while taking the TRAM up to Sandia Mts. Gotta love digital cameras.

Not only have I never acted all knowing, or above anything, but dont let your ego think I was directing my comment only at you. The flight sim community is far too small and underfunded for them to be getting as much grief as they get. This isnt WoW with millions of dollars invested. Most of you probably dont remember your wifes birthday or your anniversary, yet bitch about an underfunded software company missing a release date they have said is just an estimate. Ever get your car repaired and had that estimate missed? At least then it actually hits your pocket. XSI missing an estimated release date, does what? So you have to wait, its not like you lost money on the deal.

When its released, I will buy it. Just like any other higher fidelity sim. I have never heard of any release date projection besides end of 2006. I know everyone loves giving every sim developer a hard time about release dates, but if you can do better well then give up an application. Until then I say STFU! Not to be mean, but I hate hearing people b*tch about release dates. From developers diary: "Some time ago we gave a guestimate of a release timeframe around Q4 of 2006, at this stage we are probably a few months behind schedule from where we would like to be to hit that target, however we are still at a stage where the end point can shift significantly in either direction, therefore it is still a little early for us to be able to give any update or revision to that guestimate. The good news though is that we have a couple of initiatives in the pipeline which could dramatically shorten the timeframes we are working with."

I have been on TS when someone logged in and used the map to vector. Even at the request of people in the channel for him to stop, it continued. Sorry, but not everyone joins the TS server, and so not everyone would get the information. If thats not CHEATING, well I dont know what is then.
