  1. Screenshots create hype. Hype creates expectation. Expectation creates crappy software.
  2. 1. Programmer produces code he believes is bug-free. 2. Product is tested. 20 bugs are found. 3. Programmer fixes 10 of the bugs and explains to the testing department that the other 10 aren't really bugs. 4. Testing department finds that five of the fixes didn't work and discovers 15 new bugs. 5. See 3. 6. See 4. 7. See 5. 8. See 6. 9. See 7. 10. See 8. 11. Due to marketing pressure and an extremely pre-mature product announcement based on overly-optimistic programming schedule, the product is released. 12. Users find 137 new bugs. 13. Original programmer, having cashed his royalty check, is nowhere to be found. 14. Newly-assembled programming team fixes almost all of the 137 bugs, but introduce 456 new ones. 15. Original programmer sends underpaid testing department a postcard from Fiji. Entire testing department quits. 16. Company is bought in a hostile takeover by competitor using profits from their latest release, which had 783 bugs. 17. New CEO is brought in by board of directors. He hires programmer to redo program from scratch. 18. Programmer produces code he believes is bug-free....
  3. See, Lomac is missing these artistic features. They really should hire someone to add a little flair to the interface. (Or just take Witchking's work lol)
  4. Er, 2048x2048 textures? My screen resolution on my dual 19 inch is 2x1280x1024 or 2560x1024, now, imagine I buy 2 more screens and stick them on top, making a 4 screen desktop. Using the same resolution, that's around 2560x2048, shave off 500 pixels and voila, 2048x2048. Now, imagine folding that huge 2x2 screen around a multi-polygon object in real time. You get my gist. 2048x2048 textures are not only pointless IMO, they're performance killing. I've tried them and sure they seem to be clearer, more detailed, but you have to get real close to see, and in the heat of battle, who cares about textures?
  5. HOTAS smhotas, who needs a HOTAS? I'll just press 2, i and then tab you and click my trigger.
  6. But why do such a thing though? Makes more problems for the end user, and creates more coding for the programmer. Good thing I've memorized the forum URL already.
  7. okay, ED MUST add Teka Teka's mods into 1.2 as default!
  8. Now that's is cool bug editing.
  9. I don't understand why you guys can't give a link to the forum from the main page? I mean, you use a pop up script to get the forum to open in a new window. It doesn't work for firefox. It's so much easier just to give a link. Here, I'll even write you the HTML required: <a href="http://forum.lockon.ru" target="_blank">Open Forum</A>
  10. That's a thing which ED has yet to fix. Just learn to control it. The reason the nose dips up and down is because of over correction. You just gotta get used to the unstableness of the flight dynamics. I hope they fix this in 1.2 with a possible tweak.
  11. Read this review on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000066641/ref%3Dpd%5Fsl%5Faw%5Falx-jeb-7-1%5Fvideogames%5F8322943%5F7/102-4609198-0418551 Installed a demo. Don't know what the guys who posted below are talking about but im running demo on my rig with following specs: Athlon 1700+ ATI Radeon 9500 moded to 9700 SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 513MB of SDRAM Game settings: resolution 1600X1200, 2x AA, 4x AF The game is smooth. Geting on average 30 FPS. Physical model is great, graphics is great both environment and landscape (i come from Ukraine so i know how landscape is supposed to look like there:)) The only thing i didn't like was the damage model. But i think it's going to be fixed by the release date. Of course it is not an arcade game. It is a hard core flight simulation with everithing that this entails. You gotta learn how to fly. Everyone who is passionate about aviation should get this game! PS. If your demo isnt running great, check out ubisoft's forums. You can learn how to set up you hardware, drivers, and the game right so it is playable. Was this review helpful to you? 0000------------------00000 Average of 30fps? Athlon 1700? 1600x1200? I wonder if he even played the game at all or was he just staring at the menu. Maybe his settings we below lowest? (Or maybe Lomac is optimized for Russian computers only, since that guy's from Ukraine). Funny. There are also some retarded people on there, saying they have 4 gig of ram, 3.75ghz CPU, and it runs slow. Hahaha.

  13. Erm, seriously, I've tried everything, but I've already crashed at the end of the runway. I jammed the W key and it seemed to be stopping, but not fast enough. The chute doesn't exactly slow it down much. Maybe I'm approaching too fast. I'll try Fred Flintstone way next.
  14. I've tried brakes, chutes, dangling my hands out the window, nothing works.
  15. Ho Ho, I have a LONG story about my nick. (No, it's not what you think) I'm too tired to write about it now. I'll write something later.
  16. Considering Moore's Law was created in the 486 era (or was it earlier?), I guess it's already late to say it's been broken. Actually, I think we should be counting flops, not hertz. Since the super computers count giga/tera flops. Maybe we can start the mega flop naming scheme?
  17. That's just bullshit to make you think Google does anything bad. It's stuff made up by Hotmail and Yahoo they can't keep up with Google's service. The data they gather is probably purely automated. It is more like a meta bot searching for wesbites so they index them in their search engine. I can't say this for sure, I'm only speculating because I like google, but I'm quite positive that Google's intent isn't to backstab their customers. Unlike Micro$oft... Anyways, I got 50 invites, anyone want one? Also, the reason why there were only like 2 replies is because everyone seems to have one already.
  18. See that's the problem. You're looking at it all wrong. It's a game. The developers should treat it that way. You don't need to model it so detailed, just give it some if statements and pretend it's being modelled. Such as "if (altitude <= 5000 ft) { show effect}. They don't need to model the whole thing according to temperature status, pressure, and what not. Complicated? Difficult? Just the effect itself is, everything else is magic. (or should be)
  19. I've been making many wallpapers for the community's enjoyment since Lomac Beta. I'm going to University next year and must save up for tuition fees so I can't spend much money of any entertainment related things. Getting a TrackIR will only make me happier. :D I also made a heck load of sigs in the good ol' days. Then again, people make entire mods. Who am I to compare?
  20. Cycle for ED games: 1) Game is designed after years and years of research 2) Game is coded and tested, bugs are found, game is delayed to fix the bugs 3) Community whines about delayed release 4) Game designers release it earlier because of whining 5) Community whines about the bugs 6) Designers release patch 7) Community whines about more bugs 8) Designers release more patches 7) Community whines about more bugs 9) Designers release a whole god damned add-on pack Guess what happens?
  21. I don't really care about these American "super-jets" because none of them look as amazing as a Su. If only Lomac had these things modelled... (salivate)
  22. And the point of them being in the game are?
