  1. So check this out... I have no idea why but my flickering clouds issue is some high tied to if the mirrors are on or not. If the mirrors are on (m key), no flickering clouds appear from within the cockpit. They still are flickering in external views but are fine in the pit. If I turn them off, then the flickering clouds immediately come back. Any ideas why this might be?
  2. It is, and I'm running in full screen (right alt + enter). Still flickering.
  3. I have flickering clouds that do not go away regardless of my Nvidia or ingame settings. Anyone else have this one?
  4. Thanks, good to know!
  5. Not sure where to post this because of the various fixes but here are the fixes I have had to make so far. After doing a clean install of the DCS and the 1.5 Beta I got a failure to launch .exe from the beta: MSVCR120.dll not found and then MSVCP120.dll. I downloaded and fixed them: put the widgets in the System32 file of Windows file. The beta then ran but my graphics cards were not working in SLI (just the one). Fixed that by messing with settings using Nvidia inspector (not really sure what was the trick was but 1.5 wasn't recognizing I had and SLI setup: more than just the R-ALT + Enter fix was required. My current problem is that the clouds are dancing, flickering. I set everything to 60 fps Vsnc but still have some flickering going on (clouds most notable). Everything else seems to run extremely well and smooth so far. My specs: 2xEVGA 480s SLI, EVGA x58 Classified SLI Mobo, i7 960 CPU, Track IR 5 Pro.
  6. Fixed it, running now at 100-120 FPS. Setting everything in Nvidia Inspector that could be set to AFR2 seemed to do the trick for me.
  7. SLI is not working for me. I've tried everything listed above: nvidia inspector and right alt +enter etc. My cards seem to run in tandem fine in the older version of DCS, just the beta currently not recognizing SLI. Getting a decent frame rates just on the one card, 40-60s but still a little bit of chop while panning around with Track IR. My specs are 2xEVGA 480s, EVGA x58 SLI classified mobo, 12 gb ram, and CPU is an I7 960.
  8. Thanks!
  9. When this comes out, do I need the open beta of DCS World to run 1.5? Sorry, if I'm duplicating a question here, I looked through this and other threads for the answer.
  10. This is module is looking especially nice and well developed! The cockpit is beautiful and great job on the trailer. Really looking forward to this one.
  11. Solid post, solid feedback. I like the idea that DCS is always getting better or at least has the potential to do so. Best of all, there is a nice bundle of new (hopefully well crafted) flyable aircraft coming out. IMO as long as DCS doesn't go belly up as a company I think they will continue to impress.
  12. 2 x EVGA GTX 480s in SLI. They heat my whole apartment when I play DCS in the winter time. Other than that they work great. Direct X 11 supported.
  13. Thanks for the update. You're team should honestly take a break and just watch the World Cup or enjoy the summer weather for a few days. I have no doubt that this project is going to be amazing and I like many others are a day one buyers regardless of when its complete. No need to rush.
  14. I never complained about the cost of the sim. In fact I really don't care about that aspect that much. 20-50 bucks seems reasonable for the amount of work the developers put in. See you out there :-)
  15. I agree. Lots of good stuff to come, maybe someday they'll get around to it. :)
  16. I try to support them as much as possible: I have the A-10C and P-51D as well. I never fly the Flankers, Frogfoot, or A-10A so I guess I didn't want the extra data taking up space (even if its only a little). If they did an updated FC version of the Mig-29S I would buy that too. In general I don't like the inner workings of FC: it always ends up being more keyboard work (no matter how well I program my HOTAS) and lack of clickable cockpit tend to bother me. As to your quote on modern jet sims all I can say is that I am looking forward to the Mig-21bis, F-86F, and Fw-109 Dora. I'll buy all those.
  17. I bought the F-15C last night and I must say it is fun to fly. The cockpit is beautifully done. That being said, I'm already ready for the big kid version of it. Functioning switches, avionics fully modeled, MFD fully functional, also the radar seems a bit underwhelming currently, etc. My point here is that I'd pay full price for a A-10C level of detail on the Eagle. Thx.
  18. Cool, I had no idea they worked that way. Thanks.
  19. I don't think is affecting the flight characteristics of the aircraft at all but the trim animations are backwards on the rudder, elevators, and ailerons (actually the trim tab on the right wing doesn't appear to move at all). Not a big deal really but I thought I should mention it in case it hasn't been caught yet.
  20. Here are a few tips from what I've learned about dog-fighting the Dora. Map the radiator and oil cooling controls to your HOTAS and as you're entering the dog fight (or even better before) open them fully. I set my RPMs to about 2900 and in general don't have to adjust it really. By doing these two things you'll be able to at least keep a good climb rate with him and not fry your engine. Use that gyro sight. Map both the wingspan gauge and range gauge for the K-14 sight to your HOTAS. The wingspan only needs to be adjusted once really: the Dora has about a 35ft wingspan. The range though needs to be adjusted a lot though while your maneuvering for a shot. I'm constantly adjusting mine every few seconds as I try and get the distance from me to him steady. Once he's in your cross hairs hold the dot on him for at least a second before pulling the trigger (the K-14 is awesome for deflection shots and hard breaking shots) and if you have the range right you'll cut a wing off on him no problem. At first I really hated the area target sighting of my guns, preferring convergence instead but after getting used to the K-14 I kind of like them. Also do not do any power on stalls. If you are going to stall (like you will in the vertical some times), just cut the throttle and let it happen. Recovery this way is much much faster. Once the nose is over and pointed down you can add the power back moderately and recover. Hope this helps anyone who is new and frustrated.
  21. Its early for a wish list but for the love of all things holy please make it possible to adjust the gun convergence on aircraft somewhere in the mission editor. Not being able to do so is not realistic: once over seas officers asked/told their ground crews to reset them to their personal preferences and they did it (I remember seeing it in a documentary (probably Wings)).
  22. Problem fixed.
  23. I just re-installed DCS world and DCS P-51D and now I can't connect to multiplayer. I get the invalid serial number message. So I ran the program listed in the first sticky but I still have the same problem: cannot connect to multiplayer. Module manger doesn't have my key either but I have it written down. Any help would be appreciated. thx.
  24. For me this argument does not really register because we're a small community and if we don't back projects like this then we really might end up not getting them at all. Or even worse, we have to accept inferior projects put out by big labels that are most likely not DCS quality. Also, for most of the individual backers, we're not talking about throwing down fat stacks of cash here (although I'm pretty sure that's what it costs to produce these sims). If you like flight sims, you should chip in a few bucks regardless. If it tanks, at least you can say you tried to help. Personally, if I was bitter about everything I spent $40 bucks on that didn't meet my expectations then I'd never get to sleep, but that's me. Its a gamble either way, but for me this kickstarter at least has better odds then Vegas. Where is that terrain anyways? har har.
  25. I'd scratch the Me-262 in favor of a more prolific/popular German fighter. Also move up the P-38 to a closer stretch goal. A/B-26 would be awesome of course, I'd prefer it over the B-17. My two cents.
