You probably want the 'mods' section of the forums. Lots of help to be had there too. Good luck! http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=89

I could benefit from a video demonstration/tutorial between the two and on how and when to properly employ them both.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8

F-5E Camo Skin For Round #9, please provide a camo skin for us F-5E drivers. Thx! -
Agreed, having pedals is a must as keyboard users can't play along properly ever. I think I do end up cutting throttle before touchdown but most of my approaches are probably too shallow so I usually have some power still on.
-
Also, ensure you trim for landing = 5+.

My two cents on this issue. Approach and land with air-brakes out around at approximately 150 kts. I keep the airspeed indicator in the green all the way to touch down. After touch down cut throttle and keep the stick 3/4 to full back. Use 50-70% toe brakes, differentiating pressure to keep the bird centered on the runway until below 50 kts. No brake chute needed. I've been landing at Nalchik and Batumi this way with several 100 feet to spare... Not even close to running off the runway. To be sure... I have no idea if this is the standard operating procedure for the F-5E but as of right now it keeps me from running off the runway. Happy to post a track if anyone needs it.

Attaching a screen shot that shows the situation. In it the viewer can see that my throttles are set above the Afterburner thresh hold hash mark and that the engines are at 100% RPMs but that both nozzle pos gauges are not in their after burner positions and in the pit there was no afterburner roar noise. The problem was simply solved in-flight by pulling the throttle back below the afterburner hash mark and pushing it forward. Not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior?

I think I know what the most likely cause of this issue is. If you have the jettison stores switch still in the up position then your pickle button will not work.

Going to use SimHQ Public TeamSpeak Server for commo. The mission runs perfectly and thanks to the fellas from the 99th for getting my port forwarding issue settled.
-
Mission now debugged.

Please do, you and Fish are the only other F-5 drivers I know so far, haha!

******** UPDATE ******** Next round will be next Saturday (27 AUG 2016) at 20:00 UTC/ZULU!!! ************** Since Belsimtek came out with the F-5E I have been flying it constantly both on and offline. Its a work of art, my favorite of all the DCS aircraft thus far, and I cannot say enough positive things about how enjoyable this aircraft is to fly. As such, I realized that it might be fun to get other F-5 drivers all together for an afternoon/evening, meet each other, and get some similar ACM and ground attack work in. If you've got a few minutes, take a look at the mission's description and cover art below and if you are interested in flying this Saturday please post that you'll be attending so I know how many slots to make the mission and server for: I have 12 spots currently built into the mission but that can be easily expanded. Check back here in the near future for TeamSpeak connection info. Thanks again to Belsimtek, great job on the Tiger!!! ,, ***** F-5E TIGER II CAPTURE THE FLAG ***** ADULT SETTINGS: NO EXTERNAL VIEWS, INTEGRITY CHECK ON, IMPOSTERS WILL BE SET TO SMALL, ONLY YOUR AIRCRAFT WILL BE VISIBLE IN F10. EACH TEAM HAS A FLAG (DOG EAR RADAR) ACTIVATED ON ITS SIDE UPON MISSION START. RED TEAM OWNS THE AIRSPACE ABOVE THE 88 N/S GRID LINE AND BLUE TEAM THE AIRSPACE BELOW IT; BULLSEYE MARKS THE CENTER OF THE ARENA. THE FLAGS ARE PLACED RANDOMLY AND ARE NOT PLACED OUTSIDE OF THE ARENA DEPICTED ON SLIDE TWO. IF YOUR AIRCRAFT FLIES WITHIN FIVE MILES OF THE OTHER SIDE'S FLAG ITS RADAR WILL ACTIVATE THUS HELPING YOU FIND THE FLAG. HOWEVER, LEAVING THAT FIVE MILE RADIUS WILL CAUSE THE ENEMY FLAG'S RADAR TO TURN OFF. EACH SIDE IS LIMITED TO 20 AIR-FRAMES AND HAS THREE HOURS TO FIND AND DESTROY THREE OF THE ENEMY'S FLAGS. AIM-9P5 MISSILES ARE LIMITED TO 10 PER SIDE. AIM-9P MISSILES ARE LIMITED TO 100 PER SIDE. BOTH AIRFIELDS HAVE BASIC SURFACE TO AIR DEFENSIVE COVERAGE! OBEY ALL RULES ON SLIDE THREE AND GOOD LUCK!!!

The F-5E is my favorite DCS module so far, A-10C was wonderful too but this one has more fun factor for me.
-
I'd buy it. Never hurts to have a second set of eyes in your bird.

Good point, also, apparently people with FFB HOTAS don't even need to map it. Or so I've been told.
-
Dino! I mapped the limiter last night to my HOTAS and yes! it definitively helps improve her roll rate in certain envelopes. I tested it at high speed where the roll rate gets sluggish, big improvement. Haven't tried at low speed yet.

This is very dependent on the mission you're flying and how you fight. In BlueFlag I have now scored several kills on Mig-29s and Su-27s. About half of those are with guns. My flights usually last between 30 to 60 min per. I could jump in an F-15C and get more kills per flight but I find flying the full fidelity F-5 much more gratifying. Others are also getting very good at using it as a strike fighter, lots of work but also fun and very gratifying.
-
This is great! Any chance you could upload your work into the user files section of DCS website so we can make good use of it too?
-
Well done, about 1/3 of what it should be.

I wrote about this before but it didn't make the transfer over to the 'Bug and Problems' section here. The UHF radio in the Tiger currently doesn't seem to hold any of the preset radio channels. My guess is the devs are aware of this but I figured it doesn't hurt to say it again.
-
Obviously, I've noticed this as well. The behavior just seems very pronounced. I'm wondering if the flight computer CADC should be correcting for it or is that not real. Based on what the flight manual says about this particular type of asymmetric load I'm guessing that the aircraft's desire to roll is not as strong in real life. Perhaps the devs can ask a real world F-5E driver for us?

Had this one too, with the Air to Air quick mission.

Video Video from that same source on VFC-13 was really good too: https://fightersweep.com/921/last-of-the-dogfighters-veterans-day/
