Removing engine covers has been moved to configuration panel, which currently doesn't work if there is any wind

[DONE] Any updates coming for the JF-17 in 2022?
Dr_Pavelheer replied to WRCRob's topic in JF-17 Thunder
@Iron Sights We already have SD-10 -
@Toumal Will trigger IC I presume?
-
Just out of curiosity I set wind at 6600 ft to 2 and everything else to 0, when spawning at Khasab (near sea level) menu worked but when spawning at Shiraz (5000 ft ASL) it didn't, it seems it indeed is tied to wind at the ground level where aircraft currently is
-
Just made a quick test, indeed if wind at 33ft is set to anything other than 0 menu doesn't show up. If I change wind to 0 even old missions are working
-
@Ikaros Are you sure airfield you spawned on is friendly, not neutral?
-
When creating a new .miz it works perfectly, which confirms comrades @J20Stronk theory
-
@uboats Opened, resaved and opened a new version of a .miz file without making any changes, menu still isn't working.
-
The only way to start the aircraft in MP I found is using the autostart, which is suboptimal but works I guess. Per @J20Stronk suggestion I opened an old mission in ME, menu indeed didn't appear
-
Works in SP, can't get it to appear in MP

DCS crashing when incoming missile hits
Dr_Pavelheer replied to Hiten Bongz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've also experienced this, but in my experience it happens exclusively on GS server, perhaps there is something about the way Jeff and server scripts interact that causes the crash. -
Notching with sky in the background? Jesus, radars in DCS are in even worse state than I thought
-
Is SD-10 useless? Not at all, in fact it's a pretty good missile. The video seems to me like DCS being DCS compounded by issues stemming from online play, when server tries to compensate for couple hundreds ms of latency sometimes things can get weird, especially in a game where players move at transsonic speeds and missiles have quite realistic limitations, both in kinematics and in guidance

Help! JF-17 Engine shutdown in middle of the flight
Dr_Pavelheer replied to AndyPx's topic in JF-17 Thunder
I can't see anything obvious from the video, but did you get hit by a heatseeker by any chance? Check your keybinds as well, maybe you're accidentally turning something important off -
The way I understand it it's going to be dumb bombs, dumb rockets and laser guided bombs without capability of self designating. On the plus side you finally get CCIP/CCRP

ship rcs and 802ak target size setting.pdfCheck out this PDF, I'm not the author and I don't remember where I got it from but it lists correct target size settings for various ships
-
Actually you don't, I just did a quick test, tank was basically invisible in FLIR, but if I cued IR Maverick with targeting pod in TV mode I could get a lock despite not seeing anything in its camera. And it was an actual lock, not force correlate. It doesn't care about contrast or anything, it just tracks objects, but there are some rules implemented to mimic limitations and imperfections or sensors. Which is perfectly fine mind you, there is no point in making proper simulation of every little aspect of the game
-
Nobody implements sensors like that in video games, it makes no sense for many reasons including performance. You already know where all the aircrafts are, you just have to design rules which dictate whether an object is flagged as "visible" or not which would take into account for instance LOS, distance, some kind of visibility factor which could be static, could be assigned per object, or could be a function of aspect, throttle position and type of aircraft, maybe actual temperatures with some delay if you're feeling fancy. By the way targeting pods and Mavericks aren't using image recognition either, they just magically lock onto any object flagged as alive, and its fine for DCS purposes
-
That's a whole other issue, unrelated to potential implementation of IRST. You know what isn't realistic? Being able to see anything other than blurry mess when fully zoomed in (not counting proper optical zoom), I don't think they should be able to perfectly ground stabilize to a point 40 nm away as well. Of course ED should handle the draw distance limitation more gracefully and add some sort of distance fog in IR, but unless you abuse DCSisms it's not that big of a deal. With the exception of MitL cruise missiles, they are affected by that and beyond certain distance from launch aircraft you can't see what you're aiming at
-
It's understandable that they don't want to speak about it until everything is set in stone. Doesn't mean we can't have a nice thread full of speculations, rumors, hopes and dreams.

Su-30 would most likely sell the best, but I can imagine that Chinese government isn't much more lax in these matters than British. I personally would love J10 too, but I guess that people are less interested in domestic Chinese jets than something as iconic as Flanker. JH-7 looks cool, a "Chinese Tornado", but again it's probably too modern and not well known. From aircrafts that actually can be modeled without sending guys from Deka to jail I think later variants of J-8 would fit pretty nicely with Phantoms and Floggers, Q-5 could be interesting, both of those aren't very well known though.
