  1. How does the gun in J-8 work? Does it still use pyrotechnical charges like in Mig-21/Jf-17, or is it reloaded pneumatically like in Flogger?
  2. In F16 you have to open the AAR door to allow refueling external tanks. The simplest solution I found in the Jeff is to jettison tanks while on the ground before rearming
  3. @Niccii 1) I don't know 2) Likely not possible due to missile/rocket engine smoke ingestion by the engine. Notice that C802's drop off the rail with engine off
  4. It's a legacy weapon, not much point in using them unless you're in a pre-AMRAAM scenario
  5. There are ways to calculate range without radar or laser rangefinder. If targeting pod is optically tracking either an object or a scene (point track and area track respectively) it can do similar thing ARBS in Harrier does and estimate range from change in angle as the aircraft is moving.
  6. Q-5 could be interesting depending on the version, we don't have any cold war full fidelity red ground attack jets, but it depends on how far out is Su-17/22 which would fill mostly the same niche and be more versatile (ARMs and TV guided missiles) on top of being more recognizable. I'm not really up to date on my Chinese fighters, but J-8 in a variant that could keep up with Mig-23 MLA and Phantom sounds like fun, but I don't know if PL-11 wouldn't be too modern compared to R24s and AIM-7. If that's the case maybe something slightly more modern to give Mirages 2000c and future Migs 29 9.12 something to fight. Other than that I don't know what else could be possible to do without sending guys from Deka on free vacation, if you know what I mean, that would make sense in DCS environment.
  7. Set FCS to AG2 config and clear master caution to shut Betty up. Now you don't have to worry about pulling to hard
  8. I think this doesn't work anymore, changelog mentions only Harpoon but I think all Harpoon based missiles are affected
  9. Take a look a this OP, this video should convey what I meant much better than I could put it into words
  10. F15 got recently a significant buff to radar performance, perhaps to make it similar to radar in upcoming F15E, I would assume it also affected its burnthrough range
  11. You can try placing a SPI with AG radar and reposition it by looking at HSD until SPI and emitter more or less align
  12. Part of the appeal of DCS is flying "real" jets, everybody has seen a Tomcat, Viper, Hind on TV, in a movie, maybe even in real life. JF-17 for most people might as well be made up.
  13. Sounds like you forgot to turn on ECS, if that's the case avionics are overheating which could result in symptoms you're describing
  14. Cost perhaps? If they have stockpiles of PL-5 they might as well use them
  15. Can confirm, if you use DBS as intended you can not only see runways and taxiways but even aircrafts on the ground or objects scattered around, including AAA or SAM, though obviously there is no way to tell what's what. One minor problem I have is cursor sensitivity in DBS2, it's hard to designate stuff when cursor moves much faster than in any other radar mode
  16. Have you tried setting wind to 0?
  17. I know, I already reported it, I'm just saying that problems with the bomb may not necessarily stem from weapon itself
  18. @uboats As expected game crashed when I was about to get hit by a missile, unfortunately the track file is 65 MB so I can't upload it here. If you want I have it on onedrive https://1drv.ms/u/s!AuvEzrkZSLldjcIfo1mLERSr7LWmiw?e=lM4AKY
  19. Keep in mind that if you have target in point track and it reverts to INS area track (for instance because you had to maneuver and obscured the view) bomb will go towards the current waypoint instead of last known location, even though targeting pod will still point in the correct direction. In area track it doesn't happen
  20. Take a look at this, maybe it will helpship rcs and 802ak target size setting.pdf
  21. When TPOD is in point track, and track is lost (for instance due to maneuvering) SPI reverts to waypoint instead of remaining in the last known position. Targeting pod still points in the right direction, but you can tell from the hud that SPI has moved This problem doesn't seem to apply to area track. TPOD SPI test.trk
  22. Did you set correct target size?
  23. It's a known problem, fix is ready and waits for next DCS patch
  24. Currently there is a bug, if there is any wind where your aircraft currently is configuration panel doesn't open.
