  1. More specifically: "We never surrender! Every message about the resistance ceasing is a lie!" The cold war truly was a different time here. :P Regarding the note about the pilots knowing whats comming, i read somewhere that they counted on loosing pretty much the entire fleet of AJ 37 very rapidly in case on an invasion, it was more or less designed as a suicide mission. :P
  2. I Though we could compile all of the Viggen (preferably AJ/AJS) related videos we stumble upon in this thread. :pilotfly: A short documentary aboy the Viggen (swedish only unfortunately) The only current flying AJS 37 at Airpower 2016: JA 37 doing some runway cleaning. Low level flying Footage of a Viggen keeping eye on some german and warsaw pact ships. (Skip to 38m58s)
  3. Sooo... this thread is now entirely of topic. Back to the topic at hand boys! :P
  4. For all the Swedes out there, Försvarsmakten just added this to their website. It's a documentary produced for the swedish armed forces about the cold war in sweden. Spoiler: theres AJ 37 footage in there. :D http://www.forsvarsmakten.se/sv/information-och-fakta/var-historia/om-kriget-kom/ Edit: I commented that they should add english subtitles, lets see if they listen. :P
  5. Yes, there are several ways to do this, you can do it by editing lua files or use separate software to do it for you. One of them is UltraMFCD
  6. I found this: https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&nv=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=sv&tl=en&u=http://www.aef.se/Avionik/Notiser/TILS_mottagare.htm&usg=ALkJrhhtXgQzTB0453Kp3J3e2PUcyHX3mA
  7. I assume it locks automatically when the seeker finds a target in the center of the crosshairs just like the mavericks does on any other aircraft.
  8. It would surprise me if they didn't include the all metal skin since a lot of the attack viggens were naked initially. :-)
  9. Good news! :pilotfly:
  10. I think this might mean they will release this before the year ends. However I don't think ED would want it to get in the way of the spitfire sales. Apparently they submitted the first QA build to ED last friday, back when Razbam said the same thing the Mirage was released a few weeks later. So before the end of the year isn't impossible. And to be honest, the Spitfire and Viggen are two completely different beasts that will most likely interest completely different groups of simmers, i doubt they will be competing for the same money. :-) Regarding the "now" i wouldn't put to much emphasis on it, what he meant was "We will show it now during the announcement week", and the announcement week is this week, it has nothing to do with the release date really. One thing i noticed them mentioning not being completely finished is the BK-90, the programmer is still working on that apparently. :-)
  11. It's working, cobra said so in the reddit AMA. It will be shown this week.
  12. Cobra has stated earlier that the plan has been to announce the aircraft when it is close to finished. (The opposite of their plan with the F-14) :-)
  13. The RM8 is a 60s engine. :-)
  14. Vacuum tubes are as much voodoo as cam discs to me! :P
  15. It blows my mind that they were able to make targeting logic this complex (and fairly compact) without the use of transistors, and in 1961 no less, 16 years after the end of WWII where all of the weapons were dumb. I realise this is an upgraded version but im guessing the original Rb 04 was fairly close to the Rb 04E
  16. It does change a lot, for example, the swedish airforce refers to the Gripen as the "Jas 39" on their website, but FMV calls it the "JAS 39" with capital letters on theirs... this is all very confusing. They all use spaces and no hyphens though. :book:
  17. if anyone wants to google it its called a Virtual Image Display. This is what SAAB has to say about it: Source
  18. Edit: Better explanation here
  19. The main objective of the AJ/AJS 37 wings was to stop or slow a soviet invasion fleet. Swedish doctrine at the time was to fly in groups of 4, low (approximately 10-30 meters AGL) and fast (mach 0,8?) carrying RBS 04 or RBS 15 anti ship missiles (two on each aircraft). Most attacks would involve the pilot firing of all of the ordinance and then getting the hell out of there asap. Loitering was rarely part of the plan. :-) At least this is how i've come to understand it. :-) Regarding the "low" part of ther flying there were incidents of viggens catching telephone wires with the drop tank, and incidents of roof tiling being blown of houses when they passed. That should give you some perspective. :P

    FINALLY!

Sounds like a lot of work! :book:
  21. They´re working on it but no promises.
  22. RaXha

    FINALLY!

Correct, although there has to be weight on one of the main gear (left?), not only extended landing gear, and as you said if the nosewheel is not compressed within 3(?) seconds of the main gear the reverser will be disabled automatically. This means that for the aircraft to make a really short landing you need to push the nose down fairly rapidly during landing. :joystick: Ah yes the legendary Miggen! xD
  23. Most likely people are working their way through this thread.
  24. Also, there´s really no point to ferry missiles in game. :P
