"Desired Release Cue (DRC). The DRC is a small line on the PBIL and represents the desired time of fall as entered in the DSMS weapon profile (DES TOF). The DRC serves as a guide in setting up proper aim off distance for the subsequent delivery. The aircraft should be maneuvered to place the DRC on the target. If the DRC is on the target, and a constant bank angle and load factor are maintained, the DRC will move down the PBIL at the same rate as the actual target, and the CCIP will be coincident with the target just as the weapon time of fall matches the menu entry. An X is displayed over the DRC when current parameters indicate the CCIP will not appear on the HUD prior to desired time of fall. The DRC may be below the MRS during instances when the aircraft flight parameters vary widely from the desired weapons event. This will most likely occur when the dive angle is much greater than the planned event. For ripple deliveries, the DRC indicates the release point, so that the middle bomb of a stick falls at the point of desired impact. If an even number of bombs is selected, the center bombs will bracket the target." I'm not one of those people that are just going to tell you to "go read the f-ing manual" but when trying to use a certain system that your asking about, it would behoove you to crack the manual. I think you guys are trying too hard to maintain all the correct parameters, just relax, setup some targets and try to do a straight on run on some targets without introducing the abrupt turn onto target. Baby steps, learn both how to maintain the correct CCIP run then incorporate the turn in to the mix.

I'll post a track tomorrow. Notice where your DTOF line is, well below your target. If you want to keep your DTOF close to inputted value keep that tic mark on the target. Also your minimum escape altitude staple is in the dirt.

If you want to execute textbook delivery like in the "book" then practise getting a eye for range to target using canopy cues. set a target up and set a steerpoint on it (so it's at a known range), then when its at the "correct" range with it on your 3/9 just see where it's at in relation to your canopy. Since the AI has super human response time, doing a 90 degree turn into target at close range isn't helping you much. The only advantage it's giving you is with AAA because you're changing your flight vector and making it hard to predict where to fire in front of you. One thing I remember from watching your video is that you're not being very aggressive when turning in, this is a fighter plane and you're not going to break off the wings doing a 4-5 G turn (unless you're going way too fast). You can turn in half the time/distance that you did in your video. If you watch the video demonstrating how to do this you'll notice he is aggressive in his turns and doesn't waste time in a 30 degree bank. If you perform a high G turn with a nose low attitude you're not hurting you airspeed or energy as much as your slow turn-in.

Also people don't normally jump on till around noonish PST. During the week I'm on from about 10 am on. I'm sure it will be hopping tonight, reguardless if 1.2.4 comes out.
-
I feel your pain, but i'll let you in on a little trick i use. When I have to reset trim I hit the reset button while applying forward movement to the stick, doesn't cancel the nose up completely but it does knock it down to a 3-5 degree bump instead of a 80 degree.

Look up "better smoke and fire" mod. I use it and I like it much better.

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
wess24m replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
We're (hoggit) having intermittent issues of TARS causing TS to crash when you spawn into a new plane/chopper. You have to restart TS and sometimes you get a connection limit exceeded message. -
No need to sign up, just jump into our teamspeak and we'll give you the password to join the dedicated. Pretty informal.

Not much to learn to use reddit. The training is in the form of "tuesday night noobs" in which anybody that wants to learn something or has any questions is free to ask (and be taught). There are at least 2+ instructor pilots on tuesday, sometimes it's themed, EG learn how to use the blackshark datalink/learn how to enter coordinates. I've flown with the 25th VFW which was one of the better VFWs as far as training and missions, I ended up leaving because in one of my LIFT flights I got verbally berated because I took off a couple (2) seconds too soon as my lead was already off the runway. We're not like that at all and we have "serious face missions" a couple times a week where we're semi-formal on the radio and techniques, nothing crazy, certainly better than my experience in the 25th. We all realize this is a computer game and nobodies going to yell at you if you screw up. Hamblue is correct about flying on-line is the best way to get into the sim. Anything from startups to advance flying somebody will be around to help you (if you so choose). We have a dedicated server that runs the Dragon training map 24/7 as well as teamspeak. we don't have "members" like the other VFW, if you wanna drop in one of our missions just drop in.

I used the x52pro for years, needless to say I didn't use the rudder as much as I should have either. Simming is a investment I admit, you can get a set of pedals for $120-130 though, makes a big difference. It wasn't an option for me once I got the TM warthog because I fly the shark also.

As long as you can get the thing on the thing, and not make the ballistic computer work so hard (IE following a solution triangle) it will work. I almost never use dumb bombs because if you have something better and you're restricted by real world inventory then use the best. As for the 4g pull up to 30 degrees, if you go a little under or over at least you're thinking about your escape maneuver. Just fly around in free flight with no bombs on and practice doing your escape maneuvers without having to stare at the G indicator, soon you'll know about how much to pull the stick at a certain given airspeed, the rest takes care of itself, baby steps. I see a lot of guys that have never been taught and have bad habits that they've been lucky with but it's not the most effective way to do things. bad habits are hard to break. Another thing I see a lot of people doing is not using the rudder, despite the fact that the sim (and real aircraft) have stability augmentation assistance, that doesn't mean when you initiate a 90 degree high speed bank that it has the ability to compensate, you have to help it out some. Also you can be aggressive and firm with your maneuvers without jerking the stick around (not saying you do this), remember the quickest way to turn an aircraft is when you have 100% wing lift available for the turn.

Come on over to http://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit we do missions and train new pilots.

So the pod takes a snapshot of the view when you initiate LSS? Seem counter-intuitive, like you'd still want a live image while looking for the laser. I haven't tried having somebody lase a target and trying to mask the pod, (in the sim) will it still grab that laser spot while masked?

Don't be too hard on yourself, these are ideal release parameters. You can still be effective without meeting them exactly. Also with the speed issue, I agree with not loading up on whatever fits. I normally take (depending on fuel requirements) 2 GBU's and 2 mavs, or if heavy armor 2 CBU 105/97 and 2 mav's. I'm not a fan of mav's and generally only take them if i'm going against sams, AAA can be taken out with bombs or guns. Also if you're having issues with speed (which I did when I first started) either start from a higher altitude then what you're going to using as your base run-in or take a lighter plane. After they published their "battlebook" I found out (after trying a couple runs by the book) that what I was doing was pretty close to the parameters in the book. just don't over fly the targets (you can loft GBU-38's/105). Either use guns/mav's/loft/high altitude until you've taken care of the nasty AAA. It's much better to run light and RTB refuel/rearm then to fly a winnebago and not be able to maneuver, also fly completely empty and see hows it feel compared to the loads you've been taking. Also since nobody else is offering, you can come over to http://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit and i'll run you through some things. I've been flying DCS since the beta of BS1 as well as a (real) pilot. Also remember this is a game nothing more.

When you go into LSS the picture in the TGP stays the same until you cancel LSS. I noticed while flying in the mountains, when in to LSS and turned 90 degrees away from target and was masked behind mountains, still the picture in the pod never changed.

When we know something about DCS:FXXC?
wess24m replied to fedor's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I did some searching around the forums and can't find anything about how highly detailed the Huey is going to be modeled. Has anybody heard if we're looking at FC fidelity or KA-50 level? -
Can we add some CCR to the in-game soundtrack?

By following the real start up procedure I don't have to click on the ack "acknowledge" LSK on the MFCD. The DCS manual doesn't let you know that you should wait min 2 minutes until after your INS is aligned to perform your self test, also that (although not implemented) that you should wait to shut down your APU for (I don't remember how many minutes) after APU generator disconnect due to cooling issues. I walked through step by step the procedures and a lot of the buttons are in the incorrect position for flight (I'm sure not all those are implemented). There must be something missing on the DCS start up because even when you let the auto start do it's thing, it's more of a scramble start instead of a full start.
-
Well I (and other people) have the MFCD's exported to external displays, in my case they're on a 30 inch monitor, and I was trying to compensate for the substandard rendering of the IR spectrum. Until we have vehicles that don't instantly go cold as soon as they stop burning, tree's hotter then some tanks, vehicles with no heat signature, poor IR isolation ect ect I think we need to cheat a bit. Maybe seeing the real thing with my own eyes (at altitude) has spoiled me but the DCS implementation (of the TGP) is a poor representation.

Copy that.

The limits within the menu system only go up to 1024, I'm running at 1920×1080. Was looking to increase it past the built in limits.
-
Does this new change to the radio menu system affect bringing up the menu while in the air? In the KA-50 while in the air the radio menu doesn't open at all, on the ground it comes up fine. This only happens in every MP server I connect to, SP seems to be fine.
