  1. If you have an ipad/iphone/android theres a good dcs app that gives you airport layouts and all freq of the places.
  2. For the first video you just pick a ground unit (in mission editor) assign a frequency, choose which freq you would like (FM only) then have them transmit in a loop. I'm guessing you can use any sound file you'd like (maybe i'll try a CCR song next time ;)) and then when you fly the mission dial that freq into your fm radio (make sure it's on) and it should go exactly as it did in my video (first one with the troops). I'll figure out the UHF ADF feature tomorrow. I've included a list of all NDB in that NDB video I posted.
  3. Thank you, I try to make them so somebody just getting into sims can understand them. I'm using saitek pedals and TM Warthog.
  4. how do you like the DTAC Terrain? I haven't tried that mod yet.
  5. I've used the ADF in MP but that was with a NDB. I'll setup a MP mission with FM and have somebody else host it.
  6. What else would you like to know? UHF has a ADF function but I haven't figured out when you'd like that, possibly to another Huey. Not sure, i'll do some research and make a video. Anything specific I can probably answer. BTW I made a VOR/ILS nav video as well. it's posted in the forum.
  7. I've done the first mission and the freq they gave worked.
  8. I can see issues with sight tracking, as it as now with the awesome copilots steady hand it's tricky to keep guns on target, I can't imagine doing it with a human flying.
  9. Saw an a-10 while firing the GAU, the smoke from the gun was blue (daytime). Also was flying the huey at night and the smoke from the miniguns was blue as well.
  10. Working fine for me. Make sure you either have your door open or your radio TX switch to intercom.
  11. VOR/ILS Huey Tutorial.
  12. This video explains ADF, hence the title. Just posted a new video for navigation by VOR.
  13. I forgot to include that. Tune your navigation AM radio to the VOR then flip the switch on the top left side of you radio compass indicator to VOR, tune desired course. (make sure the radio is on.)
  14. A general rule I follow is if i'm at 45-50 knots my decent rate never goes "above" 500 FPM. Normally it's more like 100-200 max, I do all my descending while at speed (over 50 knots). When I start my (slight) flare i'm under 50 feet. Using that method you end up just above the ground when you're near 5-10 knots.
  15. List of NDB's in DCS. List of NDB's (from ED user files, I didn't make this)
  16. Just made a ADF/VHF AM tutorial video, it's rendering and uploading. I'll post it when it's done.
  17. They have options for sling load, rope, cargo in one of the LUA files. Looks like a good chance we'll see it in game.
  18. There quite a bit of new switchology. i.e. HOME(ING)/TR+G/GD XMIT/ RETRAN (NOT IMPLEMENTED). Different carrier methods,BFO/ANT/LOOP. All these I had to research, I've been flying sim's since flight sim 1.0 as well as being a HAM operator. While the manual gives a very brief description of most of these features it doesn't go into using all of them. EDIT: Yo another Northern California flyer, I'm East of you in the Yuba-Sutter area.
  19. Take a look at the rescue mission included with the huey in the mission editor, they (the troops) are broadcasting over VHF FM. In that mission set your FM radio to home and which ever freq you need. So in practise, the troops in that mission are broadcasting on 40.5, set VHF FM radio to 40.5, set transmit receive switch to home (4 clicks clockwise), use the Course deviation indicator (on the dash) for navigation using the VHF FM method. If you are navigating to a NDB (not sure if you can add these in a remote location) tune the NDB frequency into your ADF radio and flip the switch to ADF, use the Magnetic compass homing needle for navigation. The manual is vague on the use of the radios and navigation. I'm in the process of writing my own radio use manual, all this info I had to figure out on my own and internet documents on the real radios because of the lack of detailed info in the manual.
  20. No problem, let me know if I can help, I'm semi well versed in navigating the Lua file structure.
  21. True, I'd assume that I could also set a trigger for JTAC to start IR pointing/deploying smoke as well. Just figured since we already have the radios it would have been included.
  22. You're quick  Thank you in advance.
  23. I already posted in the JTAC thread, I'll send him a PM.
  24. Was thinking the same thing, after shooting the door gunner BB guns.
