  1. Yes but if this sim is striving for a realistic simulation the pilot would not be setting those bomb parameters "on the fly". Plus having to set everything, ECM, radios, weapon profiles, markpoint/steerpoint names is not something we'd do IRL. You can already do the above things if you want to edit every mission you fly. There is no disadvantage to implementing a data cartridge feature in the sim.
  2. Yup it is, finished reading it a month or so back, I wouldn't say its a read every page type book because he speaks about his personal and political beliefs (religion) but it's still a great book. If you've ever flown the falcon series, then you'll have no trouble with all the real-world terms he uses.
  3. This is why (among other reasons) we need data cartridge function(s). IRL from what I've read the CBU burst height is set manually on the ground, on the bomb units themselves. It would be nice if they were set by default to a usable altitude, say 700-900 feet.
  4. I was thinking the exact thing, would make for better control.
  5. I noticed the same with any of the dcs sims, they tax my GPU usage at 99-100%. I'm using MSI afterburner to monitor the gfx card temps. I have a the same card as you a gtx580, Use a custom fan speed profile, i have mine set for when it gets over 60C that the fans go to 100%. havn't had any problems since then, running about 70C at the highest.
  6. The biggest "night and day" difference for me was watching the tanker vs the boom as others have referenced. Went from connecting for 2 sec's to staying on for a couple thousand gallons at a time.
  7. nVidia gtx 580 here, frame rates have always been great for me, this latest patch just seemed to smooth everything out, shorter loading times as well.
  8. I'm at work but I believe it's set at 32x or 16x (in nvidia control panel) i'll look when i get home. I do remember that I went into control panel and set everything towards quality vs speed.
  9. I have a nvidia gtx 580, no problems so far. I'm running at 1080 with every ingame setting maxed with mirrors enabled (something that would slow me down to a crawl before).
  10. Intel Core i7-3960X 80 Gig SSD 16 Gig of DDR3 GTX 580
  11. Ive noticed this as well, also all the CBU's HOF is set to 1800, have to manually set them down to a usable level, 700-900 feet. Until they implement a data cartridge function this is annoying.
  12. I've noticed a doubling of my framerates, everything maxed out getting above 60 FPS. no stutters, even loads faster in both SP and MP. I deleted everything and reinstalled zzz sound mod and smoke mod. I didn't anything special except delete everything off the HDD and reinstall new.
  13. I've noticed a big difference in power, much smoother flying. it seems to feel better in terms of the flight model.
  14. I thought i read on the board here that it shouldn't, I could be mistaken though.
  15. I noticed this as well, the tgt point system works a little diff as also. adjusting the altimeter pressure also still effects the autopilot and pitch.
  16. Just went through my first test run and this new update is BUTTER!! double frame rates with everything maxed out. Not sure if they've already released a fix for the frame rate issue but i'm getting way over 60 FPS.
  17. Copy that, and I do thank you for the information. I do understand the need to protect the product from being pirated but when it becomes easier to download a pirated copy and have it work (I have no knowledge of a pirated DCS or any experience with such) then to get a legitimate copy activated, it becomes a target for such activity. I love the sim and hope that never happens but those are the facts. Starforce already has burned an unknown amount of people that will never buy a game that uses that brand of copy protection.
  18. I was not aware of that, thank you for the info. So if and when in the course of the future us that bought the update from BS1 to BS2 are stuck with our 10 (now 9) activation's for forever? That is a completely anti-customer policy, to create a game then not offer usability once your activation's are up without buying yet another copy. I realize you didn't instate this policy or have any control of it, just stating that it's wrong. Would have saved me a lot of frustration if they'd mentioned that in the (non-timely) response I received.
  19. Aside from asking you why you didn't read my earlier post (which i added to my reply), because it took me a month to get no response about this very issue. I last installed BS1 about a year earlier and yet had zero activation's left, I'd assume that a year would be sufficient time to allow the system to add 1 serial number, since apparently i was out of. I'd also advised in my trouble ticket that I HAD to buy a 2nd copy with no reference made to this fact, or an offer to refund the needless 2nd purchase in the reply I received.
  20. Because it doesn't work and will (unless fixed) lead to having to buy 2nd, 3rd, 4th copies of something you've already paid for.
  21. Because see my earlier post.
  22. What concerns me is I realize (in the link provided) how things are suppose to work, the fact is they don't work that way. I had to buy a new copy of BS1 because of the activation server not adding an activation once you've used them all. I wrote in to support with no response after 2 months on the issue, once I did buy a unneeded (supposedly) 2nd copy it took another trouble ticket to get my new serial numbers for the new copy of BS, which took another month to get something I paid for (twice) to work correctly. I can imagine what other users have had to go through with the present serial number allocation system. The fact that people are saying it's no big deal that the updated product has used yet another serial number is nonsensical, why would any user be asked to deal with a flaw when it was made abundantly clear that you would not need to use another activation. I have a ticket in right now (submitted a month ago with no action) in relation to buying p-51, all i wanna do is buy the game and the website won't keep me logged in to checkout.

    Old Envy

Last night ATC cleared me to land while there was both aircraft taking off on the active runway AND my wingman on final (10 sec from touching down). I'd say we at least need a functional ATC. The biggest immersion killer for me is the random crashes CTDs, nothing like taking 10-15 mins getting all started up, setting up the cockpit (*cough* DATA CARTRAGE) then CTD, happens in both MP and SP.
