Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
Lt.Turbo replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
The last update changed the standard dispersal settings in the weapon page. Double check the burst altitude and spin rate. It's likely set too low. -
I agree with this request, but considering the state of other maps, including third party maps, I'm not hopeful. Based on how other maps handle military sites there is a concerted effort to NOT correctly model them, for some reason. I will say there appears to be a higher tolerance for modelling military sites in "Bluefor" areas of the map. The Persian Gulf map is the most egregious example of not modeling military sites, but objects that would be clear targets are missing from Syria and Kola as well. I didn't include Caucasus because there was no effort to accurately model any of the buildings there. ED just used generic objects for cities or removed them entirely.

Parking for large aircraft at most airfields is just wrong. In DCS each parking space is given a designated set of dimensions. If the wingspan of the aircraft you are trying to place is too large for that space or all of the spaces at the airfield it will move it to the closest airfield that it can fit at. I don't think there's a comprehensive list anywhere. It's all trial and error. Last I checked there wasn't a single airfield on the Syria map that DCS will allow a C-5 to park at, despite multiple real-life airfields allowing C-5 operation.

JF-17s high and fast with SD-10s. Good luck. IMO the R-77 loses energy really quickly once it has to maneuver where the SD-10 is just much faster and more deadly. I play a 2v4 scenario with a friend often and we have the most trouble with the JF-17s.

It would great if the Iraq detailed portion of the map extended just a little further east to include Ar-Rutbah. This city was involved in conflicts in Desert Storm, the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the battle against ISIS. It would give us something in Iraq other than air bases to interact with.

While we're at it can we get official 555th FS and 510th FS liveries? They have been quite active as Viper squadrons over the years. Maybe a TX ANG livery too if you're feeling generous.

Do a search for Improve AT Infantry Mod. It comes in that pack. -
If you mean the motorized billboard static then yes. You can create a livery for it and have it display whatever pictures you want.

I'd be interested in more cold war era assets if you can find the 3D models. Something like the Nike Ajax/Hercules and MGM-31 Pershing or MGM-52 Lance would be nice USA assets. -

High Digit SAMs - A community asset pack for DCS World
Lt.Turbo replied to Auranis's topic in DCS Modding
I was able to get an interim solution to work by modifying the entry lua to not load the 5V55R missile weapon file or the two launcher (5P85SE & 5P85SU) vehicle files that use it and then remove the 5V55R.edm from the shapes folder. This makes is so it no longer breaks IC, no longer effects ED's new s-300, and everything else in HDS continues to function as before except for the two removed launchers. They C and D (5V55RUD) launchers for the SA-10B remain and function fine. -
Did you share the modified livery for the SAM Assets anywhere?

Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill

That can be done by editing the Skynet script to include his assets. If you look on the discord for Skynet I believe someone has done what you are asking and shared the file. -

Could we get a few civilian animated "infantry" models in the future to fit the various maps? -
There seems to be a threshold at about 6-8 knots where the AI will actually consider the wind for which runway is active. Anything less and they might take-off in the same direction as the wind is blowing instead of into the wind.

IRL - Dispersed Airfields with the F-16?
Lt.Turbo replied to percivaldanvers's topic in Mission Editor
Here's a fact sheet about the Singapore exercise. https://www.mindef.gov.sg/web/portal/mindef/news-and-events/latest-releases/article-detail/2016/november/13nov16_fs And here's information about the West German exercise in 1984. https://www.mil-airfields.de/de/ahlhorn-highway-strip.htm Based on these I'd say there's sufficient evidence of the possibility of a F-16 road base. -
Strategic industrial and military targets asset
Lt.Turbo replied to tripod3's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Really nice and needed mod. Great work. Just a couple of things I noticed: two units (Power Transformer & NPP Ground) do not seem to have textures, and can you add "NPP" as a prefix to the reactor itself so it is grouped with the other units? -
Ships modeling and luck of information
Lt.Turbo replied to Aplion's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
I'm not sure of the exact reasons no one has answered your questions, but I can tell you there is a very small number of people who possess the knowledge to answer you. I would suggest looking at the naval mods that are out there and messaging their creators directly. -

That will be a fun new naval addition. Any chances of Israeli ships (Sa'ar 5, Sa'ar 6, or Super Dvora Mk III, etc) for Syria and the new Sinai map -
What type of SAMs are in the SAM emplacement now?
Lt.Turbo replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: Sinai Map
Each SA-2 site having it's own SR is just a DCS thing. Real SA-2 sites may use a common search and acquisition radar between several different batteries. These radars are often not even placed at any of the batteries they feed information to. I supposed you could do the same within DCS, but I'm not sure of the limitations of unit placement distances. -
The displayed name of the livery can be edited in the description.lua very easily so you are able to customize what name shows up in the mission editor to differentiate them.
-
I just downloaded several of your liveries last night. Nice work! If you're taking requests to fill out the Egyptian Air Force we could also use the IL-76, C-130, E-2, and CH-47 liveries. Maybe an AN-26 livery to stand in for the C-295 too.
-
C-130s and other aircraft in the military side of Cairo International cannot actually be placed in their parking spots because the mission editor thinks they will not fit.
