Just to update you with what has changed throught the years: - cockpit looks much better - plane no longer wobbles - be careful if you lock someone up in PPS; lock will break easily if the taget goes crank or cold - various little fixes have been implemented - you won't gett a LA for the 27T against an F-16 until 8km or so - 27R can be lofted if you pitch up But at the end of the day, no new features, just adjustments to the existing ones. Online community has changed a lot. Open servers are no longer realistic/hard as they used to be. Kids these days are more interested in getting kills. For me BlueFlag 80's server is kind of good enough, but even that is a far cry compared to the oldies.
-
I don't think so, as that would require an enormous amount of pitch up. It has not happened since I have removed the clickable cockpit mod, but I have not flown it much either.

So FF radars take into account cell resolution, taget's aspect, cloud atenuation, mutual interference, they have range and speed errors depending on the modes used, they show fake targets? If yes, I've must have missed it. Then there's IFF, RWR... My spelling is horrible.

I would rather say "most of" realistic functionality. Not all full fidelity functionality is realisic - some of it is still limited the same way FC modules are: radar, ECM and things if that sort.

Right click is needed to move the launcher around

That's something else. I agree on this.

@Dragon1-1 don't get me wrong, but you are cherry-picking arguments in order to drive some point that US aiplanes of the erra could not be opposed by the Soviets. Anyway real life is not a DCS server where individual people are having a pi**ing competition and trying to be the next top gun. You are looking at it through a prism of DCS and that can give you a distorted image. Number one task of airforce pilots is to deny airspace, and no to collect medals. If you achieve this by sending a baloon, then what does it matter how you did it? Gross exaggeration, but you get the point.

If you like the 29, I would say: yes. If you are looking for clicky-clicky in the cockpit then: no

Yes it had max 5G limit if I remember correctly and yes it was designed to be high and fast, but this does not mean it can't efficiently counter threats like an F-15 for example. We saw it downing a MiG-29 over skies of Ukraine, so it's more then capable of performing other tasks than just intercepting bombers. Well it could fly higher and faster, had a phase array radar and long range missiles, with capability of engaging 4 targets simultaneosly - I would hardly call this not being able to be an pair.
-
So MiG-31s could not match US planes? Did I understand that correctly?
-
I would love to see dedicated ECM platform as well as transport/AWACS.

RL IFF on the Miggy takes up to 4s to resolve

Considering what RL doctrine for the Fulcrum was, having the ground based GCI DL will be a make or break feature. Strip it of this and it will be diffcult to be on par with NATO birds.

I am not sure how it will be modeled, but reading from the flight manual: the real radar "sucks" compared to what we have now. False radar returns and distance measurement errors, just to name a few. Of course these happen in certain modes and/or situations, but they do happen. On the other hand we will gain new functionality that FC3 version is missing, so maybe that offsets it.

i wish there was a general FC sub forum...anywhoo

Last time I checked DCS was a hybrid of FF and FC3 with the new addition of FC4, so I don't get the argument about changing DCS. Also, isn't Lo-Fi sometimes worth it? I mean how would DCS look like without Su-27 for example? I would be ready to fly non-FF modules if that was the only way of hopping in a dedicated ECM aircraft or a transport airplane for example. Would be great if they would come as FF, but if not I'd rather have them then not. -
What about ECM?

MiG-29 all versions, Damper does not work properly at high speed!
Pavlin_33 replied to Irisz's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
That's interesting, I didn't check how much Gs are being generated, but at high speed I think limit is 4 degrees or something. Anyway, I don't think anyone in real life would be yanking the stick at Mach 2. -

Doesn't the ingame Miggy have alpha protection? If you try to pull at high speed the system keeps limiting you. -
Radar Expected Detection Range and Elevation?
Pavlin_33 replied to pauldy's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I think this term is a thing now The teeth show where to set your radar elev in order to look straight ahead. Radar elevation angle is indepenedant of the pitch. -

I personally spend my time mostly flying FC3 planes, but I do have also FF modules like JF-17, M-2000 and MiG-21. I honestly do not understand what all the fuss is about. Sure, starting up and operating FF modules takes a bit more effort, but that's it. What I am more worried about is that while people are taking sides and trashing the other side, DCS still has outdated core features that not many ppl seem to care about. Stuff like radar, ECM, chaff, flares, EWR and similar have barely changed over the years. In the meanwhile we are arguing which aircraft has a functioning circuit breaker. I mean don't get me wrong I am all about realism and detail, but it has to be an extension build upon a solid base. What good is to have all those switches, when you radar works like an "on-off" switch and your pilot can pull Gs all day long? -
The faster your velocity, the closer you need to be to that perfect angle and vice versa. It's all about keeping that relative velocity to the transmitter, below its notch filter value. As long as you are there different combinations of speeds and angles will work.

I don't know. I can roughly guess by RWR, but usually I rely on flying 90 deg heading from the threat. Depending on the situation, data-link can be of help also. In my DCS, if I see a missile visually this just means that an impact is happening in the next 1 second or so.
