The faster your velocity, the closer you need to be to that perfect angle and vice versa. It's all about keeping that relative velocity to the transmitter, below its notch filter value. As long as you are there different combinations of speeds and angles will work.

I don't know. I can roughly guess by RWR, but usually I rely on flying 90 deg heading from the threat. Depending on the situation, data-link can be of help also. In my DCS, if I see a missile visually this just means that an impact is happening in the next 1 second or so.
-
I don't know, me personally I just look at the heading tape when notching - SPO is not the best for these things.
-
I would guess that all those things increase the likelihood of the missile not hitting. I would also assume that notching a fox3 in RL would be something very hard to do, first of all 'cause your life is at stake and I highly doubt real RWRs are that accurate. What I am getting at here is that DCS is pretty gammey in this regard, and we have learned how to exploit this over time. Also IRL the primary goal is not to kill the enemy, but deny them the airspace. In DCS we are obssesed with splashing the opponent.

I am surprised that notching 120 is such a big deal. Why is that so? Do we have any information that the notch values are wrong, or is it just people displeased that their AMRAAM missed? What about chaff? It has no influence on the locking radar and I really don't know if it has any significant effect on the 120 - it's useless. Also what about ECM? Does 120 have a burn-through value when not in HOJ, or does it magically see the target at pitpull regardless of jamming?

Wasn't it below 10%?

Where did you get this information? Aim-9x goes for the pipe as it can be clearly seen on those testing videos. Same for that ground launch of 27-T against the Saudi F-15. This is one of the reasons why the Russian jets have their engines spaced far a part - to minimize the damage a heat seeker can do.

MiG-29's BFM characteristics / doubts
Pavlin_33 replied to Top Jockey's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
But how would this explain US investing so heavily in basic flight maneuvers training, basically dogfighting, even to this day? After Vitenam war the entire doctrine was changed, and since then all US fighters are highly maneuverable, unlike the F-4 which initially did not even have a cannon fitted as it was, at the time, considered unnecessary due to perceived BVR advantage. Fact is, no matter how capable your BVR platform is, if the adversary has similar capabilities, any BVR will eventually deteriorate into a dog fight. Of course this does not apply when shooting at MiG-21s from an Eagle. Real combat is not DCS and many factors come at play here, like IFF and rules of engament, just to name a few. -

Great video! -
I think after seeing R77-1 in action IRL this is no longer an argument.

I've removed the Mod in hope that this was the cause of the issue. I usually don't have any issues taking the Flanker into the air with full fuel tanks, but every now and then when I over-rotate this happens and I can't seem to figure out why. It's literally like I have flipped that override switch. I happens maybe 1 out of 10 takeoffs. My last sortie I've ended up breaking the wings.
-
I am not sure what do you mean by that. Because the airframe is heavy sometimes the stability augmentation fails?
-
Best I can do at the moment is provide the TacView, but I am not sure how helpful it is. Just after takeoff, you can see the pitch wobble starting. I am running stock DCS except for FC3 clickable mod - I wonder if that might have anything to do with it. di.zip.acmi

Cant the Landing Gears be locked when the jet is on the ground?
Pavlin_33 replied to pauldy's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Yup, that's a good advice. -

I would repectfully disagree. Accidentally doing it IRL is almost impossible, and so should be in game. -

Maybe a good solution woul be to habe to press and hold "G" for a while. Can't tell you the number of times I have tried to extend the flaps for t/o only to have realized that "F" key is very close to the "G" key. -
Sometimes when pulling a bit harder on the stick during takeoff the plane, carrying 100% and 4×27 with 2×73, is not stable any more and it's very difficult to control. It's as if that override switch was flipped. Has this happened to anyone else, or am I the only one? Unfortunately I can't replicate this one in single-player (tried over 20 times), but happens to me in miltiplayer every now and then. How to replicate: - full AB - full aft stick at around 250-260km/h

Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
Pavlin_33 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
The picture says export "A" version. I was under the impression that export version is "B". Also I thought that the export version had more limited panel.
