  1. Only human sadly. Maybe if you STT and have a TCS track it might switch if you are in AG mode but probably not. Test by establishing STT then switching to AG mode, then jester weapons menu and switching sensor TCS - LANTIRN. Otherwise, stay in AG mode, let a human or yourself RIO use the LANTIRN stick to lock a flying bandit with AA mode in the LANTIRN display.
  2. Yes, switch to the AA mode with the lantirn control stick but remember you CAN'T track a target with the TCS or radar and then switch, so the WCS can't slew the LANTIRN pod for you, you have to manually slew it and track the target. Remember: the LANTIRN is on the right pylon and has a big zone of vision compared to the TCS (plus IR and multiple zoom levels) so if you fly past or parallel to a track, put it under your right armpit. The TCS is generally more suited for tracking targets nose on with the radar then confirming the bandit with the TCS, then engaging. The LANTIRN is better for holding visual and formation, especially when in low light conditions. AA - LANTIRN use is mostly for show because in combat you can't slew as well as the automatic track by the radar.
  3. Carrier landing after an engine got shot out by MANPAD's over Syria, got down on the boat only by feel and hydraulic pump alone, my gear needed emegency release and my hook too. Second EP was my hud got twisted after a high-G pull and I had to land without hud on a slick airfield with wind, snow and fog.
  4. The arming fuze is inside the rearm menu over the orange corner of the selected pylon might be the M904E4 arming at 4 seconds instead of 2. The minimum arming might have other requirements but I'm not that good on Mk-82's. I've had this same issue but I just thought my bombs didn't have spins or time to arm. I always run Nose+Tail arming but it might not make any difference like you tested.
  5. I am not an expert on the F-14 but here is my take: The AIM-7's motor might foul the TARPS pod with the light explosive launch which separates the missile from the fuselage. The problem is maybe seen clearer by mounting AIM-54's. The AIM-54 adds some drag but more importantly a complex cooling process. The Phoenix was almost never seen with F-14 TARPS missions because of the need for air superiority to even do most TARPS missions and would only add drag. Plinking bunkers and tanks and doing BDA (battle damage assessment). The outer stations are mostly used and there, little restrictions are seen with AA loadouts. Mounting GBU's or even later (I might be wrong here) JDAM's on the cooling racks was used atleast once. Doing both LANTIRN lasing and TARPS pictures was impossible from what I understand because the controls are not compatable. (you may see them in ferry roles) The GBU's are therefore lased by JTAC's by TARPS equipped F-14 with GBU's to spare (very rare sight from what i've seen). TARPS is there for doing BDA after lets say: after F-117's have destroyed sheltered parking bunkers for aircrafts. Lastly if you could mount sparrows on the forward racks you would need to remove the cooling racks next to it and that would mess with the ALQ-167 mounting. If the TARPS pod was mounted forward you might have room for the center aft sparrow but that would probably mess with wiring ports and mass. Stick with Sparrows on outer station 1B and 8B and maybe AIM-54C-ECCM/(sealed) /which needed no cooling racks unless you mount the ALQ-167 or GBU's etc which would then wire cooling to any Phoenix if used on 1B and 8B. I also want to believe the station next to the TARPS does not support a Phoenix because of the big missile wings. maybe only a GBU-12/16 could be mounted.
  6. Do I need to DLC forward every trap? feels like I always get 2 or 4 wires, I have gotten 3's but it feels like the traps might be more consistant with the -A model because of the less powerful engines? just a thought. I understand we need some human input near the ship because of burble and the full power bolter situations.
  7. I just managed to ACLS in the Instant action, do you have any tips on how to approach the 20-15 mile call to fly angels 8/6 and how to chase the needles? I always get the ACLS lock on at around 10 miles but have gotten a lock way beyond that before. I'm closing this topic after this because this must be my pilot error 100%, Unlucky because I love ACLS and it ''stopped working'' for me just after the patch. I even did a video on quite recently it where I flew quite badly and even got it.
  8. I might not have been depending on wind but I will try again today and respond If I see myself being able to ACLS again. I did ACLS in both multiplayer and singleplayer so might be best to try Instant action or a good singleplayer mission.
  9. Everything set up, ACLS, Datalink, TACAN, All systems in correct order, no force feedback stick etc, took some tries but stuck on the step before AP CLEAR to initiate CMD command to Carrier Control. Talking to Tac/ATC Checking in and Platform etc, still no AP clear. The last step is ACL READY and I do not see it, It have worked for me many times before but guess I need to try harder.
  10. It feels impossible after this patch. Everything worked 1 week ago.
  11. No, the bar above, This (see below), it is a D specific upgrade (AFAIK) so no new DDD and no new sensor panel + MFD's HCU etc = No D. After that we can speculate about release date and functions. Would love to see a new Lantirn or TCS quality or more customizable meny for color and clarity because of the new screen.
  12. I specifically stated that it was in fact not that which was shown. So people don't think GIB F-14D!!! because to most people the only difference is some pilot/rio MFD's and IRST, maybe maybe people see the difference of the PTID in the B(u) and D but not all. All B(u)'s didn't use the new HUD and all D models didn't have PTIDS. Atleast during early deployments. D without PTID, D with Sensor Panel, B(u) without pilot HUD, B(u) without new CAP (Computer Adress Panel) upgrade (left knee) with no new HUD too. Also different HCU's on many. The easy difference is the DDD.
  13. It seems to ''only'' be the F-14B(U) upgrade, things such as a fully collimated HUD for the pilot, NOT a Kaiser HUD like the F-14D which also included 2x MFD's and movement of the whole cockpit setup, the RIO gets the PTID (NO MFD DDD upgrade and (maybe) no sensor (the old flare handguard on the top of the DDD) upgrade too) and a new left leg panel which I have little to no knowlege about but looks like an upgraded CAP (Computer Adress Panel) IT IS NOT THE SAME HUD LIKE THIS PICTURE
  14. ''new ECM API from DCS*'' Does this mean no more 360' ECM coverage and will the future ALQ-167 provide bigger frequency cover or enhanced lock-breaking than the original AN/ALQ-100/126?
  15. I bought it because I had spare money and lots of free time, after work and other things keeping me busy I got the time to properly fly it for some nights and it's a blast. I didn't think I would be able to use the Mk-82's to plink tanks like I am used to in the F-14 because of my love for CCIP. But the phantom surprised me by showing me that getting accurate with the DT delivery is not impossible. Also love the modeling work and detail. I can fly this thing for a while to come.
  16. The Viggen is alot of things, it's an entire series of different models and roles. The Viggen we have is the AJS-37 Viggen, the A = Attack, the J = Jakt/hunt and S = Spaning/recon. The first Viggen was an AJ. Ground attacker with secondary intercept roles. The JA-37 Viggen is very different. Intercept radar instead of a ground/sea radar etc. The AJS was the effort of transitioning the fleet into the JAS-39 Gripen which is a multirole light fighter from the 90's. The AJS was a beefed up AJ with better electronics and systems to integrate things like the RB-15 programmable anti-ship missile and the BK-90 gliding cluster bomb. It lacks the camera(s) from the SF (Foto = photo) and the SH (Hav = sea) variants. The Viggen we have has everything nice except the engine, radar and avionics of the JA-37. Also no Sparrows or AMRAAMS... We do however have a great attacker with quirky weapons and tactics. It can turn but not sustained and not against the most modern of foes. if you only like air to air and dogfights this is a hard sell. Unless you love cold war servers there the viggen can shine in lots of roles but avoid dogfights if you can. That's why the JA-37 was built. The MiG-21 is fun but very rugged and shaky, the viggen is quite smooth to fly even down low. the MiG-21 can turn better but after a point the 21 does nose yaws which shift the plane from side to side. the Viggen doesn't do that, instead your engine dies and you have to relight it. Also the Viggen slows down very fast in turns. That's my only word in air to air. The Mirage(s) i haven't flown. In summary, if you like big rockets, anti-ship, convoy attacks, runways strikes, low alt, high speed, thrust-reverser, fast rearm, highway bases, glide munitions, mavericks, old sidewinders, ground radar, sea radar, learning unorthodox tactics and systems and a nice looking and sounding jet. Get it.
  17. 212 here: https://imgur.com/a/dVKoGD8, 213 too: https://imgur.com/a/8A0LOKF
  18. You need to cycle weapons on the stick, off/bombs, gun, sidewinder, aim-7 and aim-54. it's the big red switch on your right thumb just opposite of the ordinance drop / pickle button. Forward firing weapons use trigger and everything that falls use the pickle button.
  19. Don't think this is scientific but try to use WHOT (White hot) for the color mode. Don't know if it even matters but my RIO said that worked for him alot better when we lased and destroyed SA-8's on airfields in Caucasus. Other than that I need to RIO alot more and I have my own problems trying to lase targets with that bowl of pixels.
  20. null This loadout is one of my go-to for crowded places with lots of light targets and some SAM threat which I can fly over, Rapier sites in this case 8000m / 26k feet for safety. I dropped my GBU-16's on the two sites and took out the remaining 4x ZSU-23-4 by dropping Mk-82 bombs as normal while in a slight dive, almost loosing a wing from the AAA fire. However when I expended my remaining 670+ rounds of AP/HE 20mm I still had 3x BMP-1/2 left. I figured I had enough skill to aim my ADL on the target at a 40* dive and boresight the missiles (I fired my 2 AIM-9's too but they went up and much more spread to the sides of the ADL. The AIM-54 Phoenix however did a great straight line for the target a bit under my ADL, (I aimed for the empty area between the two units). First try ever doing it because I saw somebody do a similar thing to boats or a crowded factory with light vehicles. A BMP-1 is hard to crack with the 20mm unless you come straight from above and waste 100 rounds or so. The reason for posting this is if anybody has any similar experiences or funny air-to-air-air-to-ground experiments. If this topic already exists and is alot wider than the F-14 I understand but without my AIM-54 I would have gone home one less enemy down and not as happy as I am that I tried. null
