    Black Shark 3?

I don't remember anybody mentioning re-doing flight models... Another 'say it and hope it happens' ?
  5. They track, but apparently don't navigate to that track while the lock is outside their FOV ? Look for an Ironhand post.
  6. ^^ If they'd finished off the systems that aren't modelled (higher fidelity radio systems for a start), , implemented the laser using the same API as for the other modules (So other modules' weapons can see it or its weapons can see other aircraft's lasers), added the new damage modelling, given it a better cockpit and external model, put rain / snow / ice on the windscreen & functioning wipers / demisters - I'd have said that was enough for an upgrade fee... Fantasy weapons and systems just makes me less likely to buy it, and taints the whole perception of the module. Particularly if there's no way to remove them from the external model (hint from a customer)
  7. Presumably nothing. If you don't buy the SC you'll still have access to the current carrier - & there's no reason to believe that won't be "carriers
  8. He said “all the same structures”. They’re not the same structures, they’ve all been updated. Yes, the shelters are in the same place — so are the runways. - because they were placed to copy actual places. You want them to move them so it feels fresh ???
  9. If your DCS airbases look like this, you need to turn your graphics up
  10. Although you have repeated this many times to justify your wish for fantasy elements, it’s simply not true... (And “near-imaginary” is an imaginary concept. )
  11. Then surely you could both just fly a space sim with shields and a laser cannon ?
  12. You obviously haven’t actually looked at a screenshot of Lock-On’s airbases for a long time, or you wouldn’t be saying that the current bases are at all like them.
  13. & you don't care if it's an imaginary one ?
  14. Same reason USS Vincennes shot down Iran Air Flight 655* People panic under stress. Remember the FAA had told US civilian aircraft to exit the area, and both Al Jazeera and at least 1 website had reported that B-52's had left Diego Garcia for Iran. They'd have been waiting for something inbound... *in case you don't remember, Iran Air Flight 655 was a scheduled passenger flight from Tehran to Dubai via Bandar Abbas, that was shot down on 3 July 1988 by an SM-2MR surface-to-air missile fired from USS Vincennes, a guided missile cruiser of the United States Navy. The aircraft, an Airbus A300, was destroyed and all 290 people on board, including 66 children, were killed. The jet was hit while flying over Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf, along the flight's usual route, shortly after departing Bandar Abbas International Airport, the flight's stopover location.
  15. Get a grip on reality... Conned ? Showing you images of what appears to be a very nicely done map and saying "you can buy this if you want" is conning you ? Have you no self control & find yourself forced to simply buy whatever is placed in front of you ? I can't see that's a problem of E.D.'s making... If it has nothing to offer you, show some self restraint and don't buy it. I like the look of it and the stated area better than the Normandy map, and expect I will get it to fly the Mossie over. As with all the DCS maps, whatever timeframe you chose to set in the ME. It's intended as a sandbox, not a history lesson.
  16. That's the way the map system works You can fly from Georgia into Turkey, and the new Syrian map will include Turkey. They may overlap, but they won't merge - there's a size limitation. Mackers and BK both sell burgers that have most of the same ingredients - is it fishy that 2 burgers by different companies get sold as different products when most of the content is the same ? E.D. and Ugra are separate companies selling similar but different products. Happens all the time... Plus, for it to be fishy, they'd have to be tricking you into buying it somehow. They're offering it for sale, not forcing you to buy it. If you don't think the extra content is worth your money, choose not to get it. It sound & looks like a more interesting part of the world to me than the Normandy map (which I have always quite liked even in its early incarnations), so I think I will get it. Wouldn't it make more sense to put in a low polly place-holder so the mission will still work ?
  17. I guess it depends on what you wnat the map to do - it gives you a map with enough atmoshere and general accuracy to build and fly convincing & immersive missions. It may not give you enough detailed accuracy to rebuild every actual historic mission that was ever flown, but the reality is for all your detailed historic recreation, the moment the MP community takes off (or your AI wingman), all resemblance to the historic mission disappears anyway...
  18. You've seen no proof because it NEVER HAPPENED. E.D. have said that themselves. It is a 'fantasy' weapon added "because they wanted to" There have been pages and pages of "Might have been", "should have been", "was meant to be" ... but in the end it never was. Re your earlier post - It doesn't sit well with their stated hsitorical approach to me either, but I guess E.D. have to recoup the costs of developing the new model and cockpit for the Ka-50, and a BS-3 module will do much of this - if it's got enough new features to encourage people to buy it. As they did a pretty good job with the original there aren't that many useful real systems missing, so to get enough new features to make it atractive they have to dig into the 'might have been' bucket...
  19. :-) Good to know. Thanks.
  20. Really ? I Even if the GPS were deliberately sending signals designed to mislead ? I'd have thought that if the GPS suddenly told the aircraft it was 3000m higher than it actually was, the AP would then try to take the aircraft down 3000m - which would be a problem if the aircraft was only 1000m off the ground. I realise that if the AP were to suddenly try flying the aircraft into the ground the pilot's should intervene - but plenty of planes have crashed in circumstances where the pilots should have stopped the crash....
  21. Any 737 pilots on here ? I have a question after this background: I heard on Al Jazeera (& read on a website) that B-52s had taken of from Diego Garcia for Iran, and a little while later the POTUS tweeted "So far, so good!" The FAA then told aircraft US aircraft not to enter the region "because of the risk of misidentification". Perhaps misidentification as B-52s ? There's some discussion in the thread "DCS Unrestricted SATNAV" https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=258499 about the regional disabling or deliberately degrading of GPS by the US in theatres of conflict to deny the opposition the ability to use it. If the GPS were degraded & misled the aircraft's computer regarding the aircraft's altitude - could that bring a 737 down ?
  22. Ukraine Boeing 737 with at least 160 aboard comes down near Tehran. Best wishes to everyone who lost a loved one on board.
  23. Every time this comes up it's been shown that the descent rate at which the DCS Mi-8 enters VRS matches the descent rate at which the actual Mi-8 enters VRS (People usually stop arguing once they realise the gauge is metric). It's not that the FM enters VRS too easily, it's that without haptic feedback, it's too easy to exceed the correct flight envelope. If you use a FFB joystick VRS isn't really an issue unless you're flying it unrealistically and really throwing the aircraft around - which it isn't made to do.
  24. But that's the point that's repeatedly been made - the fact that you can't see all the HUD from a single 2D eye in the middle of the pilot's forehead doesn't mean you couldn't see all the HUD with 2 eyes open in 3D. Even if it's rendered perfectly as it is in RL, it may not all be visible in 2D in the SIM. Asking if they can see all the HUD at once in 3D with 2 eyes says nothing about how accurately the SIM reproduces the HUD unless you're also looking at it in 3D. Could someone with a VR setup actually post a screenshot of the 2 eye's views from the default position to see if if is all visible in 3D There are posts saying the entire HUD is visible in 3D:
  25. Depends how 'fantasy' they want to make it... IRL it never had Igla and it never had a third pylon
