So I retract my post from yesterday. I updated, and the logbook appears to function normally (at least flight time and landings are recorded. Will check other events, but they seem to be showing up). They appear to have heard and dealt with the problem, so I have nothing to kvetch about... Thanks ED!

The title pretty much says it all. This happens with any mission from the Mission editor (i have tried multiple maps, planes and scenarios). Most recent log attached below. This is the third "patch" which broken something significant, and this is getting pretty frustrating. Take longer between patches, DON'T RUSH stuff out the door, and DON'T BREAK NEW STUFF when adding/fixing old... More testing = better! dcs.log-20240810-204434.zip

This is low-hanging fruit. Should be an easy fix, and would make a bunch of people happy. Good PR. What you would think ED would want. Given much of what I am seeing, It looks like this newest update didn't really go over so well (losing a chunk of Sinai, without any mention of it at all in the newsletter, for example...). Based on much of the commentary, I am not sure that I want to apply it, even though I already purchased the CH-47... That should tell them something...

fixed Bug - Authorization Failed - DLCs disabled Afghanistan and Normandy
Zone5 replied to oCMANo's topic in General Bugs
Same here. I was literally flying a Spit in Normandy, logged-out, got a drink, came back and it won't authorize either Normandy or Afghanistan (or any of the FC-3 planes I own, which is not that big a deal, but STILL...). -
F-4 Phantom Campaign announcement: 'MIG Killers'
Zone5 replied to Reflected's topic in Community News
Definitely hope so too. This one has been on my list since you introduced it. I predict that it will be the best executed campaign in DCS yet--you always manage to raise the bar with your efforts. Thanks, please keep it up, and can't wait to play it! -
Feedback Thread - F-4E Phantom II Update July 11th 2024
Zone5 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Great update to a truly great module. I can see the improvements from this last update, and am just blown away by the realism of this plane. A true study level sim of a truly iconic airplane. You guys have set a whole new bar. Can't wait to see the Campaign. Say what you will, but the IDFAF in the Phantom period truly was the world's largest distributor of MiG parts! It will be really interesting to see that come to DCS. Strong work! -
After fairly extensive testing on the Caucasus, Syria, Sinai, and Nevada maps, I can comfortably say that the log book doesn't record anything after any form of ground start (cold, hot, runway, with a chopper (UH-1 and UH-60 mod tested) or plane (F-4E, F-5, F86 tested), doesn't matter...). If started in the air, it records data events normally. Not sure how to proceed to make sure this is a reported bug.

OK, I'm blind, too. Thanks for finding them, and sorry for being completely silly. Now it's perfect! -
First ever DCS: F-4E Phantom II Feedback Thread - May 22nd 2024

Great job HB! You've outdone yourselves again. I have waited a long time (much longer than this module has been "announced") for a detailed F-4 sim, and you haven't disappointed me. She's a joy to behold, a true and original Rhino. The flight model rocks, and Vulture is definitely my kind of guy--an overhead break in a Pawnee! THAT is real aviating. My only minor disappointment is that there are no IDF skins included (despite them featuring in several of the pre-release videos). I understand the potential political repercussions, but there are IRIAF skins (and that is also a statement... though I am glad they are there; the F-4 has a strong and interesting history with Iran) and Egyptian skins. Will there at least be a paint kit forthcoming? In any case: Bravo Zulu, She was definitely worth the wait (and the coin), and I look forward to a Navy variant (J? !) down the road. -
My results are pretty unimpressive so far. My son and I have managed to get the F-14 intercom working, but only in "MIC ON" mode--PTT works on his end but not mine (yes, bindings are done). Transmissions between any other aircraft basically don't work. PTT turns red outline, or sometimes yellow outline, but no audio. Occasionally (and apparently randomly) he can hear me even so, or I can hear him, but it isn't consistent enough to actually sort out what is happening. Nice to know I am not crazy (at least about this! ).

There doesn't seem to be a final resolution to this issue in this thread--it seems to have just died off. I can confirm that the problem still exists (and seems to be somewhat linked to high CPU usage states, like animations on the SC deck, or LUA files (e.g., AirBoss). I have been running an HP Reverb G2 V2 via OpenXR at 100% resolution, with reprojection and no FSR/CAS. I get a nice smooth 60 FPS and then when I hit the deck or the groove it drops to a steady (and fairly miserable) 22 FPS. About 30-40% of the time ALT-TAB x 2 will fix it, and the rest of the time it won't. It is also somewhat inconsistent. It is definitely not heat related (It happens sometimes within 10 minutes of me getting into DCS). It doesn't seem to be effected by FSR/CAS, Motion Reprojection, or resolution/scaling (I've tried about all the combos I can think of). Anybody out there still interested in this/have any ideas? Does this with OB MT and ST. AMD R7 7800X3D/64 GB Cosair DDR5 5400/MSI Tomahawk X670E/RX 7900 XTX (I know, it's not Nvidia, but it does a vary passable job in VR and it was $600 less than a 4090...)

Thanks, Reflected. I'll try it in ST shortly just for kicks. I just love this campaign, it really does feel like being in a training squadron (I was working for NASA in the early 80's and was taught to fly in VT-2 because NASA needed me trained, so I've been in a training squadron, but not ever in a RAG... and a T-34B is a LONG way from an F-14B...).

Still happening with 2.8.8.43489. Just did the night AAR again, and Paco just sat there going round and round with the tanker for about 20 min (the F-14 has great endurance with full tanks at 240 KTAS...;-). I'm not gutsy enough to try to knock him off... Ryzen 7 7900 X3D/RX 7900XTX.

So this gets more interesting: I decided to try to re-fly the previous mission. It loaded, I flew it to completion (didn't do as well this time as last, but c'est la guerre), and now voila, the next mission (Exposure) loads without an issue. Works in OBMT, as well as straight OB. Not sure what the deal is, but there you have it. Bug fixed (sort of--at least this is a good work-around).

I have been re-flying the Zone 5 campaign, and really enjoying it, currently on the "Exposure" mission. Updated yesterday to newest version of Open Beta (2.8.3.38090) and find that it hangs while loading at the "Post Sim Start" point every time. Happens with Multi-threading as well as single thread. DCS Log attached. I can't sort it out. Anybody else seen this? I'd really like to get back to this one... dcs.log

Problem solved: Apparently Citrix disrupts the function of SImApp Pro (and a bunch of other things). I had it installed for work, and it was interfering. Once removed, it works like a charm. Will also notify WW CS so they know.

That was the first this I thought of. Firewall pass through checked and in place. Antivirus deactivated. Multiple trials with both 1.8.22 and 1.8.23 Same results. Run as Administrator (and also not). Same results. There is clearly SOMETHING it is not playing well with, but I can't sort it out.
