How to set up toggle switches (a tutorial)
TigersharkBAS replied to Spy Guy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi Laurius, The messing around with Lua's are for people who also want to repurpose their panels for other games/sims. If you want to dedicate your panel to Warthog then sure, attaching both contacts of an On|On switch will work no problem. But if for example, you wanted to use that same switch for another game, and that game did not use a toggling mechanism like Warthog, then having 2 separate button presses might be required. In short, it's all about how flexible you want your panel to be. If you want flexibility, you wire up each On|On switch as an individual button press. If you are happy to use it for just Warthog then wiring up an On|On switch to a single button press works fine. My original panel concept and video was all about flexibility so that's why I still like to mess with Lua's. Having said that, this whole diff file thing has got me stumped. I desparately want to use it rather than messing with the source Lua file but I simply can't get 3 position switches working using it. -

This week in wiki: - We have a help page up that teaches you how to edit - DerekM contributed his article on exporting data via export.lua - We have smal articles on Pots, Rotary Encoders, military standard. -DevonCustard continues to refine his Arduino tutorial. -The Panels section has a lot of stubs for panels but the Elec Power panel is close to be completed. - We have a stub for Light Panels (a discussion on the real world thing and how to make something similar in your own panel) - We also have a suppliers page up and running for ideas on where to get parts. We have 119 pages and 485 edits since we launched. Momentum is growing but we still need your help to contribute. The new help page should be enough to get you going if you want to dive in. Unfortunately, due to repeated spamming of ALL kinds of bullshit I have had to remove anonymous edit access. To edit you have to sign up for an account. I really wanted to keep it open but once again the Internet has proven why we can't have nice stuff. -

Just trying to edit my config files for my home made pan el and now there is some kind of .diff file? Anyone else noticed this. They appear for the Warthog HOTAS as well. Everyone time I set these up an update goes and screws with them. It is really starting to annoy me. -

Outstanding. Exactly the kind of stuff we are looking for! Please send me a PM and I can help with some basics. -
Hi gents, For those who have implemented a UFC, what did you use for a master caution switch. Could you link to a part number or place you bought it please. Also, anyone have links to a specific UFC build? I'd like to learn how to mount microswitches and where they sourced the buttons etc.

Let's talk about how to structure that. I think it should be a separate page related somehow to Lua coding. We have a whole page dedicated to exporting data from DCS that needs an experienced Lua coder to contribute towards. -
Great Joe. Keep up the good work.

This week in Wiki - Boltz and Overpro joined as official users. You can contribute anonymously but signing up a user makes sure your edits get noticed as your name is attributed to any posts or changes. - Overpro began improving his excellent tute on making an Arduino into 2 USB joysticks - DC began migrating his tutorial from the forums to the wiki. With improvements and better explanations where appropriate. - I began migrating my panels tutorial with a TONNE of extra info and explanation to supplement the video. - Created pages for the panels in game. Now just need you folks to help fill it out. - Created pages dedicate to Arduino, Groovy Game Gear, Toggle Switches, Sockets - Created Landing Pages for each sub section of the wiki. - Site structure is looking good. Now all we need is content! Get cracking men! -

I could have sworn that was an official ED forum. Sorry to see it go. The engine is MediaWiki. All content can be exported as XML and reimported into another instance of MediaWiki if required. I don't see hosting being an issue. It's on the server that hosts my app and company website so aint going anywhere soon. Although DC's idea of regular Github backups might work. We'll look into it. -

It would be good if we could capture these trick and techniques in the recently announced wiki. Can someone step up? http://deadfrogstudios.com/warthogpit/index.php?title=Main_Page -
Also Warhog,.....it seems your wish will come true. My latest venture (partnering with Devon Custard) is this: http://deadfrogstudios.com/warthogpit/index.php?title=Main_Page Structured knowledge gleaned from the forums. You could say thanks for your learnings by contributing as much as you can. I know DC is planning his Arduino tutorial very soon. I have high hopes for this wiki but it needs everyone to contribute what they can.

Someone please add this to the Wiki. http://deadfrogstudios.com/warthogpit/index.php?title=Main_Page

Might be worth making an entry in the Warthog Pit wiki about this. There is a devices section. http://deadfrogstudios.com/warthogpit/index.php?title=Main_Page
