  1. I am getting a strange octodad vibe from this.
  2. I downloaded and modded your texture as a blue pit, I didn't ask for permission becasuse information wants to be free.
  3. It's not technically the same, Vortex ring state describes an aerodynamical situation where you are descending into your own down wash. Settling with (insufficient) power is when you simply don't have enough power to maintain flight. The effect is basically the same.
  4. The AI has an extremely simplified flight model, it doesn't have to deal with any of this. And the torque seems fine to me, it's not even difficult to take off now.
  5. Yes, there is no thermal modeling in the game. That said don't just run on white hot, keep switching from WHOT to BHOT and back again, it will make it endlessly easier to spot targets.
  6. Yes, it's really good, even the 2d light looks amazing, and almost like a 3d model in the screen shot. In game, when the screen moves it will however be painfully obious that it's not.
  7. It's just better quality anti aliasing.
  8. I am a real boy!
  9. I agree, it looks amazing otherwise.
  10. Physics :)
  11. There are two things that can cause swaying. One is if your sensitivity is too high, I myself never use a dead zone because it doesn't make much sense, but the sensitivity does, and you need to find a setting you are comfortable with. The other is bad lightning conditions. The tracker can pick up light from lamps or sunlight. You might have to adjust the sensitivity setting on the tracker for it not to pick up background noise. A confused tracker may very well cause swaying.
  12. Here is a video that I made a long time ago which shows me using the zoom view in action. @about 08:20 Locking the track IR would make it a lot harder to find enemies and track them.
  13. Zoom out, every time, I wouldn't think twice.
  14. I am not sure why you'd paus track IR, zoom works fine in conjunction with trackIR in fact as always much better with it than without.
  15. As far as I know it is the opposite, the IR pointer works fine in DCS World, but not so great in standalone where it will get stuck if you have something in the way.
  16. Yes it does because you are wrong. As is GA, sorry but there is no limit on FPS that the eye will or will not see. That some of us have 60 Hz displays does mean that you won't gain much as long as it is synched but that's another thing altogether. The difference between 60 and 120 fps is rather huge too you know.
  17. No no no no no, please no, this game has bad voice acting as it is, don't bring in some horrible text-to-speech engine into this.
  18. I don't know where you are looking to not see the gun hits. Are you sure you are using the correct sight?
  19. Are you sure you applied the patch? Because that's an old version of DCS world, download DCS World from their website, don't install extremely old versions, then download the A-10 from the module manager (or try installing the one you downloaded), you are probably not gonna get any more official advice if you don't contact ED directly. Updates are handled automatically, and are fairly small. (edit, try starting DCS World again, maybe it will find more updates, the A10 is the correct version and shouldn't need to be redownloaded)
  20. Yes, it's confirmed that Edge is not going to be a "World" based map. So we can safely put that to rest. :)
  21. I don't understand why everyone claims that edge and the nevada map has been delayed. I've never seen anyone from ED giving a release date for edge, it has always been a work in progress that has been going on in conjunction with other development and we all know that the original Nevada map will never be released and instead we are getting the Nevada map for edge that is already more or less done. To expect a graphics engine for a game like this to take less than two or three years is not really based on any kind of reality.
  22. Well, he has a point in that whether or not the laser is modeled doesn't mean that this is. We all know that the laser occlusion from the aircraft is modeled, but that isn't the same thing as the laser from the bombs point of view. I think it is correct in game, but I am not sure, and just because the laser exists doesn't provide any evidence that the bomb would go dumb if you mask it from the laser.
  23. Half the fun is learning the game. Yes you should buy it, the harder you think it is the more fun it will be. (but no, it's not difficult to learn, if you can use a computer you can learn the a10) :) And yes I also never read the manual to learn the game, thanks to the community I would not recommend doing so as a way to learn the how to play, instead you should read it whenever you want when you get some time over, even if you do not buy the game just because it's a really well written and very interesting book in itself.
