Missing cells in Controls Keyboard column?
jeffyd123 replied to gharness84's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
there are some things that you cant assign to your stick. Its been discussed before... It is weird how it seems to change its mind... like the Sim has a day job at the local DMV. ADMINS - I tried to map the "Auto Start" under cheats but it wouldnt let me assign it to my keyboard... It did have an opening for my Nostromo Speedpad, but when I removed it there was no slot for it. Any Ideas? -
hey zamboni... what stick are you flying with? I was surprised to see how smooth your flight was and noticed that you were flying with your gun armed the whole time.

hi Fael... I tried, for years, to use freetrack and facetrack... they both essentially suck. the TIR is best used with the pro clip BTW. You;ll like your TIR... it takes some getting used to clicking in the pit as you must stay very still, but youre used to staying still and having your head bob like your dead drunk anyway. I have mapped a pause (as well as center and Precision) to my stick. I rarelly use pause. Some days it seems like my TIR doesnt want to track as good as others so I need to use pause. Be sure to check out the "quick look" for your instruments. I remapped the standard key (CTRL + NUM0) to just NUM0. the TIR is locked out when using quick look.

DO NOT call Ethereal "Buddy"! Call him "Lord" or "My Lord", or My Leige", or "Sire". Lets not try to anger the admins. :worthy:

Printed Manual with sheet protectors...sheesh!
jeffyd123 replied to Ranger79's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I printed my manuals for EECH, Falcon4, and This sim with sheet protectors... came out to over 2,700 pages.... then I proceeded to eat them. It took over 57 hours and 2 bottles of mustard but I did it. -
Some thoughts on how to grasp all of this...

Blown Away by the Quality of this Product
jeffyd123 replied to Laminator's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Its time for the REAL TRUTH folks..... ED is an organization (much akin to something Doctor Evil woould "throw" together), paid for by the American Bar Association and bent on causing as many divorces as possible in the next 2 years... Then they are coming out with a hornet on a CVN (Hopefully).... Marital Mayhem will ensue shortly thereafter. -

i use a rotary on my throttle...map it in game

I think the "L" doesnt show up anymore. tried cycling it in the TGP menu, didnt help either. I have cycled my Mavs when the EO comes up and they work fine. Also Ive had the mavs sort of "go bonkers" and I find deselecting/reselecting them on the DSMS makes 'em work right again.
-
if you are getting track/launch inhibits that may be from the mav camera becoming overheated and not tracking anymore. I have had this happen to me but I dont recall if the EO timer warning was on. I try to cycle mine if the timer warning comes on. I know if you leave your laser on it will burn out and stop working after an hour or so.

so killing the EAC will kill the SAS too... hmmmmm..... Im going to try that! I dont like how the SAS is always fighting you for control of the plane. I know its trying to stabilize it but it is kind of too much and annoying IMHO. for the guys that find their planes pulling all the time... now listen up..... . ITS ALL ABOUT THE TRIM!!!! Just keep trimming and your plane will handle great. the trim changes with speed and after you launch/drop weps. I find Myself using trim more than any other hat. And yes you must be sure your stick is centered before you use it for the first time. mine wasnt so I put a tiny dead zone on it with the stick's software (no dead zone in the sim but I have an X65 which is a different deal with deadzones).

I tried flying without one for many years. I also tried freetrack and facetrack... both suck... a lot. I finally broke down and got my TIR this year and it actually is rather fantastic! LOL. side story... I fix PCs in the field all day and I met the engineer that natural point contracted with to design the TIR boards. the guy works out of his modest home in Oregon and had no idea what he has designed for us... he doesnt sim at all and is generally a fairly boring fellow. I tried and tried to sell him on the idea of simming and he wasnt even a tiny bit interested. Its funny how I meet people that I would think would love simming (intelligent, engineer, nerdo types) and despite my years of trying to talk them into it they never ever bite. people are funny... they would rather spend their free time watching the bleeding-rectal-shit on cable than do something to challenge themselves... I can see it in their eyes, they fear the idea of changing their routines.

re-read my above post... The NAV can be started when the INS NAV Ready message is on the CDU. If its steady, the nav system is in a degraded mode but will work... when the message is flashing, its fully aligned. By EITHER moving the plane forward OR pressing the NAV button on the CDU will engage the nav system and then you can use the EAC (make sure the SAS is on too) For Rob10... there are 3 AP modes. 1 - path will level the wings (but not hold heading) and hold the planes climb/dive angle... used a lot after taking off and for attacks. 2 - ALT/HDG will fly level attitude and hold the heading you have 3 - ALT will hold altitude and bank angle... allowing you to orbit All of the AP modes require you be within certain limits before they will engage... practice will show whats what.

hey jarith... TIR is great aint it? I did the HAT look thing forever too and it was torture. I also have the logitech behind the ear headset... I use a plastic hair band (yes that thing a GIRL wears LOL) and put my TIR on that. Tried mounting the TIR on the headset and it just doesnt work. the hatclip wont work as well as the clip. I made a profile that I really like... its fast as hell on normal use and the precision mode I dont use much.. I attached a copy below. note that i have 3 keys mapped directly to my stick that you will need to remap. You may want to delete the other profiles that you have. TIR was having a problem selecting the "default" profile when the game launched (i think it was fixed though), so i just keep 1 profile available to the app. currently, i use TIR for only A-10 so if your using it for another game you may want to try another profile.... sorry i dont have more info. for looking at your MFDs and panels, try using "quick views" by pressing RCTRL+NUM0, then the keypad number keys on your keyboard (I remapped my activate/deactivate key to just NUM0)... its great. You can also look at Helios or HawgTouch if you have multiple monitors. smooth.zip

Make active AI jet sit still on ramp

i havent tried firefox's way but I have had the same issue.... tried making them with no fuel and with hold timers... nothing worked. DRUID!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!?!?!?!?! -
errrrmmmm... wtfisgoingon is 99% right, oritpro is a bit more wrong. When the nav system is done aligning, when the so-called "T" Line reads T=4.0 0.8 and above INS NAV READY is flashing on the CDU,then either moving the plane forward or hitting the "NAV" button on the CDU display will engage the nav system and THEN the EAC will stay on. Take note, if you move the plane (or hit the "NAV" button on the CDU) before the above conditions, the nav system will still work, but it wont be as accurate (the .08 figure is an order of magnitude of accuracy, so if you start moving when this figure is at 7.6 your nav accuracy will be 7.6 times less accurate) You also find the INS NAV Ready message will be there but not flashing. I personally dont see any difference in the accuracy... maybe it isnt modeled. And you must have the "SAS" switches forward.

K Ill try to get the guys to fly it.

you can fly the plane in Sim mode and still enjoy it casually. When I initially started, I would takeoff, fly to a town and blow up oil storage tanks to practice handling. Next I progressed to doing quick missions to start learning navigation. Now I generally make missions that are fairly straightforward and simple and fly online. If you must ramp start (depends on mission), I am usually rolling in 7 minutes ( i dont do the entire checklist thing). For learning the keys/HOTAS check out this HOTAS layout >>>http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69610 ED has made a nearly perfect balance with this sim... you can go in depth and learn all of the functions of the CDU and other systems or just fly and blow stuff up without knowing everything.
