  1. StrongHarm made a mission that had a ton of units battling and it was specatacular (i think about 200 units) but it was very laggy. The burning vehicles was the easiest thing to see....very cool.
  2. as requested, I am uploading my Saitek x65 profile. You should find it is fairly close to the LAST version of the HOTAS profile that I made. hope it helps jeff A!0C.zip
  3. Hmmmm.... the staff is quiet on this one. They most likely wanted to murder about 75% of us during the Betas. LOL the Beta was great for me and Im really happy they did it.
  4. I have one too and I like it in many ways... the coolest thing is how you can change the amount of force you use on the fly. I keep mine turned up fairly high when im airborne and you have to pull pretty hard on the stick... kinda like force feedback.... adds immersion. The metal stick and throttle feel like cold steel in your hand. the quality is decent but nowhere near the warthog. the plug that goes into the throttle is really shitty. Take a look at CH sticks, they are very good quality and fair priced. I messed around with (and wasted a lot of time) with facetrack. Had a great webcam and lots of light on my face (150w spotlight) and it was like i drank 3 bottle of ripple! wavering all over the place... terrible and unusable. I messed around extensively with freetrack too... sucked. I finally sold out and joined the borg (after all resistance really is futile when it comes to a TIR) and its great stuff... very stable and accurate. get the TIR 5... the sensor on it is better and more accurate which helps when looking at your gauges or the ground for targets. congrats on your landing (sigh, I wish I could go back to the first time I got in the ole A-10)... enjoy the sim!
  5. also I use the "quick view" to bring up the MFD with your pod and make it big. ( I remapped my "NumLock" key to bring up the quick views, then I hit "6" on the keypad... its great and handy) Generally the pod is a lot of work to use and find targets... I tend to use white hot the most. You'll get pretty adept at using your HOTAS buttons while searching... feels like clapton playing a rip on his guitar some days LOL.
  6. combat helo (an Apache sim) is coming along nicely. Its going to release a closed beta in the near future and progress forward. the info is at simHQ ... http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/216/1/Combat_Helo.html
  7. hey SK... check this forum section for your X52 profile... theres a lot to read and try. http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=135 here is a learning tool for the HOTAS commands that I made... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69610&highlight=graphical since you have been simming for a while you are gonna find you'll be learning the pit functions and the HOTAS mostly at first. Personally I didnt use the training missions in the sim (broken when I bought it)... I used the very good training vids by headspace and wags (as well as others) to learn mavericks and CDU usage. enjoy... and if your wife asks what the hell youre doing on the PC all the time just look up at her then snarl and hiss.
  8. dammit... we need a guy that owns a print shop to get into the sim! Id buy one for up to $20.00 if its ring bound (plastic or metal) and about the same size as falcon 4's manual. be nice to have it with an openable ring binder so you can make changes to it.
  9. or maybe you're losing your grip on reality and you're actually a really terrible pilot.
  10. all of that AND you get to blow stuff up too!!!!
  11. this sim, and Lindsey Lohan are proof that we are an evolving society but with our share of troubles. LOL
  12. Im always trying to sell guys I meet on trying the game... none ever do (except for my gamer friends which did buy A-10). I guess few really do have the bug for our sim.
  13. Is this why, when flying a mission from speed, when I drop a bomb my printer explodes?
  14. agreed, I meant the other holes... the other method doesnt sound appealing (but my opinion isnt fact based). Is there anything else that can be done just using the tools in the ME now? Either way, I think the missions being made now are pretty good. Hopefully, the ME pros will get what you guys need to Next-Level the sim's missions.
  15. Holy Crap Speed... I didnt know LUAs could do that sort of thing. It sucks that the missions will be lamer, but you are right in saying that those holes needed to be closed. Im sorry to hear about all of your work getting dumped on bud... thats a rough one to swallow. I got a feeling that ED will make a workaround.... they're on our side after all (only a handful like them left... so sad). Maybe you should look at getting on the testers team so your input can be heard more directly.... or possibly have somne way of communicating more directly with the decsion makers involved with the ME... I mean you are onew of the top ME guys in our hobby. I vote to promote Speed, ED!
  16. thats exactly what I thought too... the team is in a desperate struggle with about 30 - 50 enemy pushing in on them.
  17. That video (and its use in Strong Harms mission) motivated me to make my mission. I used a couple fo guys from my wing to do voices and they werent bad. trying to get the yelling right was very hard for them to do properly. I am using several different trigger types to make the calls random-ish. There are also 4 overlapping zones (like a cloverleaf) so the ground forces will call out " we see you to the east..." sort of thing. these are combined with about 6 - 8 random CAS calls then about 4 more triggered calls that the enemy forces fire. the voices are recorded in audacity using change pitch and speed, then barrys satan maximizer, then 4x4 pole allpass. the track is then inserted into one audacity profile that has about 10 tracks in it with various sounds (people yelling, gunfire, increasing pitch tone, mic clicks) I wound up using my own voice in the mission so far as its just for testing and content usage. Ive had a lot of issues trying to get the triggers to fire the way I want but they are working better now. The mission is attached. One area (AFGAN - ATC will direct you to it) is mostly completed (not the voices) if you want to see how I did the triggers. Get Home-testv01.miz
  18. very good idea.... god knows Ive spent a lot of time looking for those little bastards. Im gonna try this out. Another way is to use a buddy in MP as a kind of wild weasel to get the SAMs to fire at him and then you can (while sitting back about 20 miles) see the sam smoke trail and then zero in on him with your pod. fun teamwork and the wild weasel is in for a hell of a ride.... ya better know your SAM threat envelopes cold too.
  19. Im running the sim on a 60" DLP and its awesome (HDMI). the only thing was it had to be scaled to 1776 X 1000 because of overscan.
  20. hey speed... How well does that MATLAB script work? I have been torturing myself trying to make a lot of CAS calls (about 30 or more) for a mission Im working up. Audacity is torture but it does work. Maybe I could use the MATLAB demo after I get all of my CAS calls recorded. One thing Ive been experimenting with is making the sound quality lower and lower as an effect too, but it isnt giving me what I want. One trick Ive been using is to have the test tone (the one that slowly gets higher) in the background to simulate local interference. the main effect Im looking for is mic distortion from the guys screaming into the mic (theres a lot of gunfire in the background)... cant seem to get what Im looking for. One last thing Im thinking of trying is TARS which is pretty close to what I want ( aside from the mic distortion). thanks Jeff
  21. fun, aint it! I cant wait till they come out with nevada so I can carpet-bomb my ex's house... over and over.
  22. love it... all these guys try to help this asshole and he's gone.... he took his "master's degree" and used it to learn Hawx on his mommy's x-box. "whAAAAAAAAA... mommy!.... They dont tell me what the TMS does!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
