  1. Hi Tzeer, 1 - Not sure on this... LGBs are tricky for me. I do however always manually lase (on after release... off after impact) and have found it works well. You can burn out the laser if you forget to turn it off though. My reason for manual lasing is if there are high winds it seems to me that letting the bomb follow the beam all the way makes it have to manuever less than an autolase. 2 - I leave my TAD map off most of the time unless Im looking for details for valleys or runways. 3 - I joined these guys and they are very good. http://firstfighterwing.com/joomla/ enjoy the sim! its superb,,,
  2. hey ashcan... Thats great you want to get into MP. Sounds like youre all set but you will need to install teamspeak 3 and map a Push-To_Talk button to your stick. The guys at http://firstfighterwing.com/joomla/ are very cool and will take you out on sorties and teach you a ton of stuff (although it is a good idea to know your way around your weapons and have a basic knowledge of nav). Either way youre in for a whole new world bud. On the link above, You can click on the top of the teamspeak list and it will launch and hook you up to their teamspeak server.
  3. i thought the max laser detection distance was ~ 10 miles....
  4. Fun aint it! wish I could go back to my first aerial kill...... sigh.. sob. maybe it was a tank.... I remember one of my first mission completions... had it all... SAMs, Enemy planes (this is in Falcon), taking out an enemy strip, took AAA hits, fought the controls all the way back and landed wOOOt!
  5. Tommy, Interesting point your'e making ... I do like looking at my beautifully rendered (and now with SHADOWS!) pit... Its very cool when I look at the CDU and the Sun is making it hard to see or the shadows are moving across the instruments when Im orbiting.. Loz, that Helios pit is friggin great! the textures on it have come a long way since I played with Helios (my PC is too lame for it) Your layout is really great.... welll done. doooom.... gadroc made some well done tutorial vids on assigning keys. Hopefully they still apply to the newer versions.
  6. online is dramatically better... when you want to coordinate an attack or communicate enemy locations, or maybe you need help with your CDU, its waaaaaaaaaay better when a human answers instead of a "thing". Plus everyone will make fun of you when you make a mistake. So get your antisocial butts teamspeak 3 and head over to one of the virtuial wings and say hi! You'll find a lot of cool people with a similar fascination to yours with our kick ass hobby. You'll get to see how a REAL flight is supposed to communcate and perform under combat too... its Waaaaaaaaay better.
  7. will this guarantee me a date with that hottie down the road?????
  8. friggin etheral... Ive been having a lot problems with a trigger-infested mission Ive been working on and your advice really helped (I didnt have the "trigger is false" in my actions. You rock man!:worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy::worthy:
  9. you're gonna be missing out on a lot of immersion with a stick like that. Using modifiers isnt fun. Take a look at the CH stuff. they are good quality and very reasonable.
  10. the sim would be better if there was a pizza cooker somewhere in the pit though. LOL Good find! it amazes me too... its really bizarre to think that this is nothing but the output of a computer.
  11. that blue-eyed redhead in college.... and every time I fly DCS A-10.... just too many great things to list.
  12. ya lucifer as far as i know the training is broken... i tried it and it started doing weird things and locked up or wouldnt respond.... never tried it again. best thing is to troll the foruims to learn new things and read stuff off the net about the game.... theres some very good training videos out there.
  13. Blow air in the vent where the hot air comes out, that canned air stuff works good. dont let dust bunnies build up in there... gaming on a laptop needs max airflow or it'll burn up. go get team speak 3 client and install it, then go to this link http://firstfighterwing.com/joomla/ then click on the top of the TeamSpeak list (it says 1st VFW) on the right side of the web page. it will start teamspeak and hook you up.... hopefully. Ill look for ya in there... just hang out and talk with people.... say your visiting from an invite from dethjeff (me). Its a good way to learn by flying with people.... either way have fun learning! Jeff
  14. very cool mission speed. quite an achievement. I hear you guys about the ME issues... they are irritating and extremely time consuming to figure out and work around.
  15. wow, im surprised to hear that steam sucks so much. Jeez, I bought the game, DL'd it on torrent in 3 hours or so, patched all the betas and post release without any trouble, all using torrents that finsihed in less than an hour. Steam was the schnizzle when it came out but I hear a lot of grumblings about it now.
  16. Phew! .... I feel like I just gave birth! well so it was the stick... interesting. I wonder if its just junk or it draws too much power? Glad to hear its working for you Lucifer! frustrating but you got an awesome stick out of the dealio! Have fun buuuuuuuuuuddddy. Im at the first fighter wing if you want to fly sometime (great guys over there). http://firstfighterwing.com/joomla/... jump on their teamspeak. thanks to the others and cichlidfan for their help as well. been quite the little tech support ordeal eh? Remember to clean that laptop out once a month lucifer..... Im outta here! Jeff
  17. Hmmmmmmmm.... Either he's flying in blissful ignorance that we're all here waiting to hear how its doing....... . Or His laptop BSOD'd and he's sitting inside of his idling car in the closed garage holding a little A-10 plastic model. Poor Lucifer, he's an excitable kid that just wanted to fly.....
  18. using the uninstallers in "Programs and Features" in your control panel should be fine.
  19. put the new BIOS in.... if that doesnt work, call Dell tech support and get one of the parts monkeys like me out there... Tell them the laptop is totally dead and will not start at all (they wont send out parts for your stick not working)... they will send out a new mobo and you wont have to spend 7 hours on the phone with them (which really sucks) If they ask you to mail the PC in for repair tell them you need it for work and cant mail it in. DO NOT TELL THEM A DELL TECH SAID TO DO THIS STUFF!!!!!!! but Im thinking all is going to work well for ya and youre gonna be in the clouds 5 mins after that stick arrives.
  20. the ONLY reason I would do a BIOS would be to solve a specific problem panzer. if the list of the BIOS fixes doesnt include USB voltages, Im not interested. Lets wait until that new stick is in and see since theres nothing going on anyway. Hell, knowing your luck lucifer, the warthog will be DOA. LOL (Im praying not buddy) Im very hesitant to install another mobo because they are all reconditioned/ repaired from broken PCs. they usually work fine but I do find myself going back and replacing motherboards on about 15 - 60 % of them if not right after installing them.... it comes and goes in waves throughout the year. I checked your model and it is a good one... just be sure the vents on the bottom are getting air (not on the couch or in bed) ... a high performance lappy will burn up pretty quickly if the vents get suffocated. Be sure to clean those exit vents once a month.
  21. ya i replace mother boards several times a month from BIOS updates gone bad but its generally safe. the only thing I can think is its possible that the USB voltage could be defective on the laptop and the BIOS may help but its a total guess by me.... I seriously doubt it would help. they usually dont and I never do them anymore. The other guy from MS isnt up to speed with the problem. the game runs fine with no stick plugged in so Im pretty sure its not the video driver. It is producing a generic BSOD which I think is due to the chipset voltages falling to low ( from the USB drawing to much amps) to run the PC anymore.... thats my "theory" at this point. please be sure to uninstall the saitek drivers and the profile software BEFORE installing your new stick. Hey by the way, what model laptop is this... I forgot. Were all pulling for ya Lucifer.
