  1. if there is no BSOD running arma with the stick and software, then I would have to say its something with A-10 and your stick.... some software issue, most likely your driver is bad and needs reinstalled. NOTE - it would be best to try this on your laptop. not some other PC. heck at this point, if your family is buying you a warthog, Id say "f00k that x62 dad, its broke"! LOL Your;e gonna like that warthog bro.
  2. no through the USB is fine.... hmmm. I would think the pc would blu screen with that test. would you mind trying the test again with arma but this time run the saitek software and try using the stick in a helo or plane if possible. that should tell us if the driver or software is f00ked.
  3. OK... new warthog is good. I thought you had one before, sorry. Panzertard has a good point... it could be a driver issue, But Im thinking the BSOD would show that. My reasoning here is the stick is shorting out and causing the OS to crash. I want you to try any game with the stick plugged in and just sitting there... not using it. it doesnt matter what game it is. be sure the stick's software is turned off! that will help us determine if the driver is causing the problem.
  4. ok got it... the minidump is the same deal as all the others. I would say that stick is bad if the plane flew for an hour without it. the last test would be to run another game and 1. HAVE THE STICK PLUGGED IN to the new hub. 2. DO NOT touch the stick or push any of its buttons. 3. do not load the profiling software... in fact turn it off. It seems to me if you bought the stick on the 18th that it has a short in it. any USB device that shorts will instantly BSOD your rig... its also insanely bad for it.... the hub will help protect the pc though. Hey I have another question for you... What was wrong with the warthog you bought?
  5. hey lucifer... OK thats good news. Sounds like you're having my kind of luck with your stick purchases!. Thats good that surrounded! worked. Id like you to try surrounded again with only your TIR plugged into the belkin hub (if you still have it) to make sure that the TIR is OK (ya never know). hey its something to do until the new hub arrives. you could patch the game too so you can watch the shadows go by in your pit while flying on AP . Im pretty sure your stick is either bad or simply drawing too much power. the new hub should tell. You're very welcome for the help and thanks for thanking me... I appreciate it! The community of this sim are very good guys and are usually very helpful with one another ... god knows we need it when things go crappy. Ill check in tomorrow buuuuudddy. Jeff
  6. so true ethereal... I owned a gaming PC business when the playstation 3 came out... my sales dropped 50%. I really hate how the "thumb tards" utterly ruined gaming.... the games are grossly moronic... "Hey! look to the left...There's a bad guy!".... Gaming for 6 year olds... wonderful. I have played all the new games and threw all of them out after a couple of hours... a real bummer. Thank GOD for you guys... keep up the good fight and the great work and thank you for all of it. Jeff
  7. Alright, first off take a valium. then realize computers are evil, right? I've been where you are many times and it always sucks. Sorry i wasnt araound today... 14 hour day. Now re-read that previous post of mine... i want you to fly A-10 on autopilot not arma, sorry about that. answer those questions too please. If a-10 plays on autoipilot with no stick attached then we know its the stick is either f00ked up or is drawing too much power. please read my posts carefully... I have 10,000 hours of PC diagnostic time and repair over 1,000 computers a year. I ask those questions and make those suggestions for a reason. ya dont read and answer them, your stuff aint gettin fixed. I Guaran-freakin-Tee you we're going to fix this.... hang in there. and remember, Computers are......
  8. goddamit druid! lucifer was supposed to answer LMAO!!! but a very good answer.... now go find the rabbit. .
  9. HEY LUCIFER... the BSOD was from the same cause... an NT kernel error... not good as it could mean many different things (****ing figures eh?) try that hub tomorrow. if the hub doesn't work, I want you run a mission that starts you in the air (surronded! in SP missions does) and immediately hit autopilot without your stick plugged in. some more questions: 1. how long have you had your stick and have you flown with it before? 2. can you borrow a stick to test? 3. what is the air speed velocity of swallow?
  10. i like belkin stuff but their quality isnt what it used to be (like everything else thats made by the chinese). be sure to get a powered one. i have about 8 usb root hubs on my desktop pc.... dont know why. Im seeing them in the hardware manager BTW. Ive been having some problems with my rig after playing for 6 hours or so.... the lights on my x65 will go dim and the PC starts to act weird... sometimes BSODing too. usually it will just slow way down and needs a restart. I havent figured out if its my stick causing the problem or my USB system is starting to fail. the basic lesson in all of this is that computers are evil and they do suck and they would kill us all if they only knew how LOL.
  11. its possible.... try anything that comes to mind. i think the hub will help. good tip too sungsam, but do you do that to all of the USB root hubs?
  12. yup the .dmp minidumps. i asked if arma ran good before this issue... yes, no? be sure to test arma in a chenarus mission as it stresses the pc more. k lucifer, see ya tomorrow.
  13. i still need those dump files buuuuuuudddddyyy. the POWER_DRVIER_STATE_FAILURE is a generic failure code... we need the other detailed error thats making it happen. Ill check in tonight & tomorrow. as far as buying a hub that may not be a bad idea...Hmmmmm... Ok question for you>>> did arma run ok before having the stick plugged in or do you normally run arma with the stick hooked up? at this point im still leaning about 70% that your stick is overloading your USB voltage. You may want to buy a hub at walmart or something tomorrow. remember, upload all of those dump files. Jeff
  14. k, so arma is running ok (TIR aside)? stick plugged in too? (i want to test the pc with a game that stresses the pc, not an old game). "still having trouble with the power driver state failure" <<< is this causing a bluescreen? if so we need those dump files to see whats causing it. it will likely have a different casue with each one.
  15. OK got your message... (no need to PM me, its best if we solve this here anyway) It unfortunately seems that this may be a pain to figure out. Its a NT kernel error which sucks ass (generic error code) I need some more info: 1. what antivirus are you running 2. how long have you had A-10 installed and has it ever worked good? 3. have you installed any new software recently? 4. did you install the 64 bit or 32 bit version of A-10 We will likely need more crash reports to zero in on the problem. EDIT - please be sure to answer all of the questions i posted above. also try playing with arma ( a chenarus map) with everything plugged in Jeff
  16. OK... just got back from work... Im betting on a USB overload (especially with what was said about X52s). If you can, try to turn OFF the restart after crash (its right where you turned on crash reporting). this makes the PC stay on after a blue screen so you can read the issue. If we get lucky, the crash will have some text (such as USB.sys or similar) so we can zero in on it. You may need to go with a powered hub... laptop USBs are pretty weak. have you played other games on this pc? you may want to play one with the TIR & stick plugged in and see if that crashes it. the paging file should be set to auto... dont try to screw with that... just leads to tears.
  17. the minidump files.... you can find them @ C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files. just post them in this forum... you will most likely have to put them in a zip file due to the forum restrictions.
  18. OK... it sounds like a bad power setting with something... maybe the TIR or the stick. get the report to us and you should be fixed.
  19. usually you dont need one of these.... just be sure to clean out your cooling system once a month and always play with your lappy on a smooth surface.
  20. been doing a bit of reading on this... apparently its driver related, not USB. it seems to be caused by a system component having an improper power state setting and after a period of time, the bad setting will crash the system. Do you have hamachi installed and if you know, what brand of wifi card do you have? Also when did you get the lappy... (I perform field repairs for dell) it might possibly be a bad mobo or component. Dells quality is pretty bad anymore but they will repair the problem quickly and stay on it until it runs right (if that is the problem). get that report ASAP... Im betting this will help us get it fixed quickly. also this link may help >>>>> http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/solved-driver-power-state-failure-bsod-298280.html and >>>>>>>http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic96544.html
  21. sounds like a USB problem. exactly what devices are plugged in when playing? You are running with the laptop plugged in right? Does the pc feel really hot when it shuts down? what brand and model is the pc? what model of stick do you have and are the lights on it dimming at any time when this happens? how long does the game run before the blue screen? is it about the same time every time?
  22. thanks guys... appreciate the info. My problem is I play in bed (ultra gaming!) and even though my stick is mounted to a 1' x 2' peice of shelving material the base still sort of flexes when I move the stick. My force settings are fairly high as well. Gonna try firmly mounting it and see what that does (I expect it will help a lot) Im going to stay with the SST6 for now and will likely try 7 in a month or so. thanks again for the info CBR!
  23. I wouldnt call it a piece of crap but the longer I own mine the less impressed with it i am. I find the no-movement thing is very cool but Im struggling with it when doing a high-G turn. quality is good but I am seeing some wear in the rotary I use a lot for zooming. the plug going into the stick is an unholy PIECE OF SHIT by the way. shame on you Saitek... you know better. my center has always been perfect and my software has always ran flawlessly. I havent installed the latest drivers for fear that my force switching wont work right.... Im still not sure about this and would like more feedback.
  24. guys... what difference does it make seriously... the programmers are busy enough and we need a way to stop the planes from rolling. Dont whine about losing your immersion so much... its a keystroke whether its chocks or a brake. dont whine at the programmers for adding more functionality. its not like they're forcing labels on us.
