Cant get ground crew to respond after patching
jeffyd123 replied to EventHorizon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
and the dial is on VHF? that is weird... I was able to talk to my crew with the canopy open and the engines off BUT, I was in a bunker at the time... maybe thats the difference. The mysteries of a complex sim are fascinating.. -

turn that dial to "INT". the canopy will work but only if the engines are off. took me about 5 hours to figure this one out. -
Well, After all, I did warn them not to fire.... the Norris way LOL.

good mission bagher... I couldnt get the JTAC coords put in properly, but I finally found one of the convoys by following the roads north from the nav points.

thanks Danny! great work.... Im wondering if I could get a quick explanation/tutorial on how to make templates with these formations... Also, I was wondering how the framerates hold up with all these units? thanks again rep inbound

I simply got no time to wait on those Air Force guys to perform a SEAD... So I go in.... I issue a warning on the enemy's guard channel first, saying I'll find them if the fire a SAM at me. If they are foolish enough to fire at me, I perform the following procedure: 1. Make a quick note of which one of them dummies fired at me... 2. Deploy countermeasures as dictated by the RWR 3. Open the canopy to improve my SA of the area and keep my eye on that Lil bugger 4. Perform some maneuvers to make that dumb missile think he's got me 5. When the SAM is about 100 yards away, I take out my .45 an shoot that sucker right in his IR tracker Works .05% of the time...

I, through my superior intellect, jumped in the A-10, with no prior reading or nuthin', and flew it perfectly with full knowledge of all the instruments, weapons and systems just by staring at the pit for exactly 14 minutes. since that time, I have never once made any mistakes or had really any issues whatsoever.

As close as I can get it! What do you think??
jeffyd123 replied to Loz's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
thanks for the screens Loz (Gadroc?)... That is really some beautiful pit work... It rivals the ED pit. Gonna try it out again and see if my system can run it (dont think it will) -

damn, thats really nice loz. can U put up screens of the other panels when activated? -

its funny, I tell certain people (that I think may be interested) in my job about A-10... show them U-Tube vids and go on about how real and challenging it is... they never take interest. Oh well, the internet wins for finding like-hobbied folks.

OK thanks guys... i guess I get it... If the pod is looking straight ahead (like the 2nd pic in post 14) then the arrow would be mostly aligned with the planes compass. But if the pod is looking left or right, off axis of the plane, then the N arrow will be out of alignment with the plane even though the pod N arrow is pointing north, right?
-
when I look at the pod arrow, it doesnt point anywhere nearthe same direction as the magnetic north arrow. Im sure its something Im doing to misinterpret it i think.

I got my CDU to download iTunes stuff! One time, I tuned in and watched Oprah on a long ingress.

ahhh, we aint worrying about some tree shadows buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddy. we got clicky things to play with in the pit!
-
Ahhh, OK thanks guys.... I thought I was stupid or so,something.
-
Looked in the FM but didnt find my answer. I am having trouble interpreting the North arrow in the pod. When I think I have north figured out, i look at my HSI and Im way off. is there a article on this or can anyone explain this to me? thanks

hey mower... I use the SST software to do shifted states. I haven't tried to in the sim ( I didn't say game! LOL).
-
I like the blinky lights and whirring sounds too.

A "hello" from a new guy who has a few noob questions

Uh oh,,,, mower heard the "G" word -
cOOl... the evil genius, StrongHarm is BACK! remember the mission I made where the columns of armor landed on the beach and go up the canyon (near B'yzb), Maybe that area would work. seems like a good shark pilot could give an A-10 pilot quite a bit of hurt in a series deep canyons like that. God, If your'e making missions again, I gotta buy a better rig (or at least upgrade my video card). great to see you again strong. Jeff

hi roegat, I tried to config the stick as close the the real warhog HOTAS as possible. I also moved a coule of HATS around (neat feature of our stick). I used "bands" in the saitek software to make the commands for the boat switch... its in my profile above. If you dont change the default key assignments it should work for you. the rest of the HOTAS functions were mapped directly in the game. As far as using other x65 buttons as modifiers, you have to map that inside the game controls, but I dont use them and not sure how to do it. I use my mode button for modifying my radio functions so I can use TARS with my wing. I would think that using it to re task the stick for start-up wouldn't be that necessary. I am thinking of mapping my quick views to my stick as right now Im using the NUM0 key to start/stop quick views and the num pads for the different views. not sure how to implement it. I guess a button to act as NUM0 and a modifier to make a HAT do the different views. what a nightmare LOL Jeff
