Not much in depth information was given from wags. Im curious to hear from other if possible. The reason I ask is some will not pay royalties and other will from what I understand. Any guidance from past experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 63

Hi, Our team of artists, coders and SMEs are looking to see if anyone knows what the status quo is on aircraft royalties in DCS? For example, is every manufacturer of vehicles in Combined Arms advised? Are permissions given? And the more in depth models such as DCS:A:10, Mig 21 etc. Do they all have understandings? Any help would be great. Thanks 63

Hi, For the life of me I haven't been able to find this feature in the forum and Ive tried making it happen in the simulation. What Im trying to do is having an aircraft enter a zone and only when the aircraft enters the zone a AI hostile aircraft spawns and attacks. Any help would be great. Thanks 63

Making sense of a busy AWAC's environment.
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING replied to bunraku's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Bunraku. Dont give up! I would recommend that the most important calls of course are those designated to your call sign. At first perhaps you can draw out a picture of what is happening. A birds eye view of whats happening around the bulls eye or you. In time however I think the end state would be for you to have a great pre mission study and recce so that you can have the best SA or situational awareness. It takes a while for most and dont forget its a perishable skill. The more SA you have the better you can support your flight achieve the ground force commanders intent and provide safety for you and boots on the ground! Hope that helps? 63 -
WOW DCS is just like real life. Like when I get online with my Hog and start engaging targets only to see them get hit by other players because I didnt deconflict on a team speak channel. Obviously the USAF didnt have team speak back then. (sarcasm) 63

Doine some training with the A-10C minus the TGP is always great practice. On some of those missions that replicate COIN operations a great method is keeping the TGP on target while keeping the MK1 eye ball on the friendly location be it static or moving and also observe enemy ground fire. 63

FAC A with artillery gun target line.
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING replied to RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
All, Confirmed. After perfect placement of a KA-50 in the path of a artillery piece the KA-50 was in fact hit by field artillery. We will continue with our training of adding gun target lines with our CAS training. Thanks guys. 63 -
FAC A with artillery gun target line.
RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING replied to RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
thanks KIMI. Im out of town and away from my kit at the moment. I have discovered rounds through tacview do fly through time and space so the next will have to he that poor huey either at the gun position or the tgt. Thanks 63 -
Pilots. Im looking to conduct training within my squadron as we develop our CAS, FAC A and overall hog capabilities. My question is when artillery is firing at a point/area target does a round actually fly through the air? If it does I assume it could hit the aircraft and including arty gun target line would be warranted in the simulation. We are aware of the methods of deconfliction. Just want to know if rounds are really in the air or not. Either way we plan on practicing artillery gun to target line as adding a complicating factor to our A-10 pilot leads. For your consideration. Thanks. 63

PM sent Kind sir. -
Both are lasers. IR can not be seen in the TGP. It is used to MARK targets, rope aircraft to get visual friendlies etc. What everyone refers to as laser is the laser target designator. It can mark ( tgp can also see the laser mark as has been indicated bt others). And of course guide laser guided weapons to the target such as gbu- 12/10/16/49 and 54 but not limited to. 63

IR pointer and the "laser to designate" are both lasers. They "light amplify". Dont think I spelt that right. With that said as DCS becomes cooler on MP you guys are right. Anyone with NVG can see much of the IR spectrum. However such devices do exist for air and ground forces to pick up a "laser designation" on a code. That would be on my list of toys from DCS so that ground forces by day and night could see the laser on target and have a very slim chance of the enemy force seeing it as well. I would not use code 1688. Its pretty popular. 63
