You won't get carpel tunnel from the HW. The resistance is a lot "softer" than the feel of the Cougar (which uses linear springs in the Y & X axis). The Warthog uses a helical spring and ball joint - so no more notches, and for those who have tried or used a NXT modded Cougar, the resistance of the Warthog is a little more than that, albeit similar yet comfortably heavier. If you tilt the base of the unit on its side, the stick will deflect under its own weight slightly (the Cougar won't at all). I'd say it feels more solid than the NXT mod, yet with more evenly distributed force compared to any old TM sticks. It's got a soft feel to it with some real substance if that makes any sense, LOL. ;)

They "sorted it out" for the HW (literally). No more pots - gone. No more gimbals - gone. The HW uses Hall sensors and a helical spring/ball joint. The resolution is 65K too... !

Not just "no fun", but oh so wrong!:helpsmilie::smilewink:

Why would you want to do that? I might use the HW handle on my FSSB, but honestly the HW makes me not want to use anything else. Anyway, my point is that the HW handle is much nicer... and you can use it on your HW or HC base!

Do you have the diameter and height of the stick base (without plate attached) handy?

Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!

Great work GA!!! (Let's hope YT doesn't pull the soundtrack). -
Start here. I wouldn't worry about the base plate on the stick side, just the diameter of the round base.
-
Very well done!!! Great cinematography and production. Rep inbound! Mind sharing some of those tips (PM maybe)? :smilewink:

Lookin' good! :)

Well, they're French owned...... (by the Guillemot corp). ;)

Nicely done!

I've used VNC Mocha to control our dedicated server. Very useful (although if I recall correctly, you need some features from the full version to login, i.e. ALT-CTRL-DEL remotely and I'm not sure the Lite version has those key commands on the keyboard). Can't beat being able to control your server (or home puter) from your phone though!

Same family, but not the same. The General Electric CF-34 engines are basically the civilian version of the TF-34's, but for a ~80,000 lb aircraft like the 900, the thrust is actually a lot more than you'd find on the TF-34's on the Warthog. The 700/900 also have FADECs, different (bleed) stages etc. and about ~50% more thrust than a 100/200. Quick summary: TF34- = USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II & USN S-3A Viking, 9,275 lbs thrust each CF-34-3B1 = CRJ 200, 8,729 lbs thrust each CF-34-8C1 = CRJ 700, 12,670 lbs thrust each (FADEC controlled) CF-34-8C5 = CRJ 900, 13,560 lbs thrust each (FADEC controlled) P.S. Nice A-321 btw! -

Regarding the release date(s): Retailer dates = fiction TM date = fact It's like we say when flying: "What you set is fiction, and until confirmed it's not fact!" Thus far I haven't heard anything different than what was already posted by TM earlier this summer (late Q3 launch). I'll let you know if I hear anything else... -

It's still WIP AFAIK, however, Teej has been testing various versions over the past few months. I've been a little out of the loop more recently since I'm in the middle of airline pilot training in real life until the end of this month, but I don't think we've seen a full suite yet - although, there's been several versions of software tested (mainly by Teej). -
You can angle it any way you want with the base plate removed and I'm sure you can offset your X/Y- axes alignments via software (although I haven't tried this yet).
-
You can also buy a BMW car body for your Miata if you choose... but if you want a real BMW, you're gonna be paying [a lot more] for it. HOTAS Warthog vs. real A-10 stick = good deal IMHO.

Some people have already voiced concerns, most of them based on the Cougar of course... which is a completely "different animal". Regardless, whether now or later, early in the life cycle of the product is the best time to address any issues - so the feedback helps. While I'm not calling those shots, I would imagine that the hardware ready for release at this point... and the software is what is still WIP - so, I'd expect a release fairly soon! :smilewink: -

I can't speak for anyone else (such as check-six) but the VTB isn't bound to do or say anything we don't want to on our own accord. So take anything we say for whatever it's worth! If you want to believe our POV, fine. If not, fine too... just know, that I wouldn't write anything in my free time that I personally wasn't agreeing with. ;) Yes, you can determine the detent location in the software to match the correct/desired rpm. (I suppose you could also physically modify the detent plate to change its physical location on the throttle arm). -

What 159th_Viper said. The idle detent for the A-10, yes. The patent is the design of the HW unit (w/ removable plate etc.), not the idea of a detent or how other aircraft detents are set up. That's how the A-10 idle detent would be. TM decided to use the same for the AB detent, even though on a set of F-15 throttles it may work slightly different. Point is, there's a detent there if you want it and you then have to go over the "gate" with the HW throttles. While I'm normally a hardcore-, stick to realsim kind-a-guy, this gives the HW throttles much more functionality when used in other games or with other birds of prey. It basically comes down to it being a versatility (and marketing) decision to make the best use of the HW with multiple sims and jets like GGTharos said. -
This has been a hot topic of discussion between myself & some of my team members and the TM peeps for quite some time, and I think they finally have their ears peeled... Time will tell (if they actually are listening to us) and if they determine that it's a cost effective project worth investing in... Just know that there's nothing I'm more adamant about at this moment than having TM build high-end rudder pedals for their new baby. I've said it often before, and I'll say it again: We need rudder pedals!
