  1. TARGET should please every level of programming desired from basic/graphical to advanced scripting.
  2. Because that's the way most real throttles work. You go over the detent, not under it. ;)
  3. There were improvements made to the throttles, the space between L/R throttle, some switches etc. between the early production runs (PR) and some of the later PR's we received. I'm not sure which PR check-six was previewing in the video...... P.S. If there are any valid concerns about quality now or later, don't hesitate to bring it to our attention and we'll to our best to address it and/or pass it along to the production team.
  4. It'll be sturdy enough. The quality is great, and believe me that we're addressing any concerns we have with TM as we speak! ;)
  5. I think it's funny how we're starting to call DCS: A-10C... "WH", and the TM HOTAS Warthog... "HW". WH + HW = Great success!!!:megalol:
  6. 2nd'ed!!!
  7. Thanks for the update, really looking forward to this one!! Keep up the good work ED, luckybob9, and Zimster!
  8. I've worn the paint completely off my Cougar FLCS and even shaved off a fair amount of metal on the handle itself by sheer number of hours put on the stick. If there was one thing I'd wish could be done affordably (!) it would be to produce the HW in the same military grade material as the real stick (i.e. plastic and not metal - but certainly not the cheap plastic type most commercial joysticks are made of). Metal is fine for the most part and better than the alternative for sure, but... I always chuckle a little when I hear people say: Nothing beats the feel of metal against your hands. Foremost because it's a sim-ism, and secondly, because most jocks would also use flight gloves!
  9. If DCS:A-10C allows to add other flyables (for addl. 3D models, cockpits, SFM's off A/I aircraft etc.) I'm happy! If not, I'll probably stick to FC2... (aside from the A-10 of course).
  10. I'd have to agree, however, if it means providing an opening for new people to get into the genre and eventually crank the realsim up, it might actually be worth it!
  11. LED's are great (and I'd definitely get one if I had the cash), but LCD's are on sale everywhere nowadays! You can get a Sharp/Sony/Samsung 46" 120Hz 1080p screen for under a grand. I've had mine for over a year, and no regrets. Granted any big screen won't look as crisp as a HD resolution viewed on a much smaller monitor (with more dots per inch), but if you don't sit right up against the screen it looks great. Plus you can use your Blue Ray/DVD player in your puter to watch movies in the man cave too... ;) It does take a little getting used to surfing the web while having to actually turn/tilt your head, but gaming is great and especially flying! I would recommend LED's and LCD's over Plasma's (in that order). You want clarity, good refresh rate, good contrast even in daylight and finally, an electric bill that's affordable too. I'd say the LCD's have the best bang for the buck still, overall.
  12. Sounds like someone didn't run their checklist if they had to go with option #1. :music_whistling:
  13. Quick formula if someone wants it: TAS = IAS * [1 + (Altitude/1,000 * .02)] (Altitude in feet). Or, TAS = IAS + 2% per 1,000' altitude.
  14. Let's hope you're not pushing at Kennedy! ;)
  15. Dropping the "simulator" -part of the name could also imply that it's geared more towards consoles (Xbox). The press release said it'll be aimed at both enthusiasts and novices, so they're definitley trying to get the masses to buy it and not just the rest of us...
  16. Cougar & Warthog = Two completely different animals. All the concerns voiced by Cougar owners or common complaints about the Cougar are of course valid, but my first impression of the HOTAS Warthog was that it hands down felt better than any Cougar I've had my hands on (incl. some modded ones). Centerplay, gimbals and pots are a thing of the past! Before I had the chance to physically try one, I had the same laundry list I'm sure most people have had regarding potential concerns that may have been "inherited" from the Cougar, but the HW is a completely new design with very little in common with the Cougar except for the look of the FLCS handle. My personal pet peeve (and I wouldn't even go as far as calling it a problem) is aimed at making sure the designers take a look at a select few buttons/hat to make sure the "feel" is up to specs before the next production run.
  17. It's a mixed bag... When it comes to civillian aviation MSFS (FSX) has got a lot to offer, however: FSX = S.U.C.K.S. S = Squeamish flight models (especially military jets!!!) U = Unsuitable for pilots who actually know how to fly an airplane C = Cloudy... (Ok, I'll admit...purdy clouds :P , +1 for FSX) K = Kaput netcode S = Shocking amounts of people who think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread That about sums it up for me! ;)
  18. Simply put, the F-16 pit builders community is much larger and more established than any other military jet in the sim genre. Besides, the bezels used on the A-10C are almost identical to the ones on the F-16C... It's never not about the $. ;)
  19. Just not very affordable, considering it isn't P&P. ;)
  20. Most unlikely (re: dimensions)... but just to be on the safe side.
  21. This thread has seriously outgrown its usefulness! :smilewink: These words come to mind:megalol: :
  22. Btw... that is Wags (ED) flying the demo @ 5:50!:megalol:
  23. I keep telling my car dealership the same thing, but after X years and X miles they just say: "You're SOL and here's the bill". :(
  24. The "sources selling the HW" is not the same as THE source. But again, we can keep guessing all day and in the end say: Well, so and so told me a specific date, month etc. and then something changes on these retailer websites... (I will say that my sources had a slightly different target date in mind). ;) What's way cooler and most important is that the HW is for real and coming soon - and I can confirm that 100% hands-on. P.S. The HOTAS Warthog will work with any other sim too! :joystick: (...but unlike DCS you'll have to do a little programming yourself). The HOTAS Warthog unit is basically a Viper handle with an Eagle throttle quadrant anyway, so it wouldn't make sense to limit it to just the A-10 when we fly our favorite sims/planes.
  25. This thread just goes on! :P There's a lot of speculation and it's quite entertaining to read, but I will say this much: Amazon or anyone else does not have any HW "in stock" or a limited number etc. If everyone keeps wishing for a nice Xmas, don't be disappointed if Xmas happens to come earlier this year. Feel free to speculate on that, because as with everything else in this thread it's based on no facts... Or is it? ;)
