I'll be very surprised with a 2010 release. I'm between a rock and a hard place on this one. I know the weapons do not work correctly yet and thus is reluctant to start learning how to use them fully. I'm toying with the mavs and CCIP bombing but there seems too much still to do to seriously go into it. Even the gun seems weak!! I have to use almost my 1/2 my ammo to take out one T55 with it. WIP I know!! :D So just flying around finding weird ways to break things on the bird at this stage :D

what display settings to run effectively
RogueRunner replied to markturner's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
i7 920 and GTX470OC and I have everything maxed except civ traffic, water at low and shadows medium. I get 40fps almost everywhere. 25 is the lowest I saw over a city. -
Big difference between commercial aircraft and military. In 'other' sims I actually meant the magic 'A' button you could press in most flightsims that would just enable the autopilot and it would magically fly your route.
-
Left throttle switch if I remember correctly.

The amount of buttons needed is actually not that many. You only really need to map the 'HOTAS' buttons. The rest is used such that you can actually take your hands of the stick to manupilate them :D I still cannot deploy mavs though, did the RTM thing, watched the videos and help offered on this forum and still cannot get mavs to lock. I get them to slew to the SPI point where the TGP looks but they will not lock. Launched two thus far but I think it was pure luck :D

People are spoiled with what they are given in 'other' sims :music_whistling:

Nope, I have a little interference on my TIR5 with another IR source behind me in my room.

How can I save a countermeasures programm
RogueRunner replied to Rocko's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
On the same note, if I create a profile for ordnance, is it also possible to save that for future flights? -
yeah full sim mode.

Was stuffing around and this happened. Lost airspeed indications so I guess the pitot system is on that side. Of course I could have jettisoned the other ordnance and also pay more attention to the indexor for speed but I didn't, all hindsight :music_whistling: I really had to fight her all the time and was trimmed all the way left. Nice detail when I deployed flaps was due to all that lift to left trim made the aircraft roll violently and I was fighting the trim switch again. The outcome is not pretty! NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS!!!

Wheels turning after T/O and they will stop if you hit the brakes.

Nope, you have something like 6 or 8 installs to start with. The deactivations (also limited) supposedly will extend those install numbers somewhat. I did the same sometime ago but in my case it was due to ignorance and not knowing, I still don't, how the deactivation is supposed to work. I tried it with the last reinstall but it also did not work so I just used another valid numbered install from my quota. I guess I'll fight that fight once I reach my limit in the future :D

DCS A-10C Warthog Producer Note 2 Available
RogueRunner replied to Wags's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
duh!! :music_whistling: This will happen in a C172 also :megalol: -
Your game is not in simulation mode anymore, prob after installing the new patch. Change to sim again, not game, and the control option will return. Exactly the same happened to me when I installed the latest patch.
-
It's not working properly, weird things happen when I move the throttle assigned to the collective. No idea what causes it though. I've been moving both throttles together upto now and the one not assigned an axis might be interfering somehow. I will try just using the left throttle and see if it still happens. It stays a PITA though!!!
-
Devs, any possibility of an interim hot patch for the X-65F throttle issue before the A10 is released? I know you said it will work by then but I'm grounded in BS now till this is resolved which is very frustrating!
-
Certain object need to be at the farp for it to work if I remember correctly. The list is somewhere in the manual.
-
Since I just bought a GTX470 I'm keen on this :D

I've took fs sim pilots up in the real thing and some were really good from the word go. One guy even managed to land a Cherokee 180 after one circuit. Almost all of them concentrate waaaay too much on the instruments but I would say most had the flying part under control within no time. Most of them also struggled with the taxi part strangely enough but nothing serious like almost departing the taxi way etc, just not very straight, kinda a zig zag type of effort. Coming back to the original question. I doubt a take off would be possible. Startup maybe but, and I might be wrong, things like the INS alignment and other classified stuff will simply not be modeled or not modeled in that much depth. For instance, the ramp start for the F16, as depicted in the Red Viper, Open Falcon and FreeFalcon series was said to model about 50% of the steps necessary to start the real jet by those that flies her.

Split throttle does not work. Both FC2 and BS only sees one throttle axis. The right throttle is not recognized.
-
I have one and it takes time getting used to. The main "issue" atm is the non compatibility with FC2 and BS and most prob thus A10 also. I have not had mine long enough to start playing with programming the thing and since I need to setup a dual boot with XP to get OpenFalcon installed I'll only start this weekend most prob. Once used to it though, control is very precise. The throttle is a little bit on the stiff side even with the adjustment screw all the way out. It's a step up from the Cougar that's for sure!
-
I know it does not use pots but this time round they might have skimmed on the switches part and the freaken things break off in your hand or stop working after three flips etc etc :D TM does NOT have a good track record and like you, I will wait for the reviews from the normal users and not the testers/fanboy/baised crowd at this stage.
-
Everyone who used the Cougar before launch (read fanboys) said the same thing after the pot problems on the F22. I'm not convinced yet. I'm sorted atm so I'll give this one a little time before I decide if I will get a Warthog.
