  1. Your game is not in simulation mode anymore, prob after installing the new patch. Change to sim again, not game, and the control option will return. Exactly the same happened to me when I installed the latest patch.
  2. It's not working properly, weird things happen when I move the throttle assigned to the collective. No idea what causes it though. I've been moving both throttles together upto now and the one not assigned an axis might be interfering somehow. I will try just using the left throttle and see if it still happens. It stays a PITA though!!!
  3. Devs, any possibility of an interim hot patch for the X-65F throttle issue before the A10 is released? I know you said it will work by then but I'm grounded in BS now till this is resolved which is very frustrating!
  4. Certain object need to be at the farp for it to work if I remember correctly. The list is somewhere in the manual.
  5. Since I just bought a GTX470 I'm keen on this :D
  6. I've took fs sim pilots up in the real thing and some were really good from the word go. One guy even managed to land a Cherokee 180 after one circuit. Almost all of them concentrate waaaay too much on the instruments but I would say most had the flying part under control within no time. Most of them also struggled with the taxi part strangely enough but nothing serious like almost departing the taxi way etc, just not very straight, kinda a zig zag type of effort. Coming back to the original question. I doubt a take off would be possible. Startup maybe but, and I might be wrong, things like the INS alignment and other classified stuff will simply not be modeled or not modeled in that much depth. For instance, the ramp start for the F16, as depicted in the Red Viper, Open Falcon and FreeFalcon series was said to model about 50% of the steps necessary to start the real jet by those that flies her.
  7. Split throttle does not work. Both FC2 and BS only sees one throttle axis. The right throttle is not recognized.
  8. I have one and it takes time getting used to. The main "issue" atm is the non compatibility with FC2 and BS and most prob thus A10 also. I have not had mine long enough to start playing with programming the thing and since I need to setup a dual boot with XP to get OpenFalcon installed I'll only start this weekend most prob. Once used to it though, control is very precise. The throttle is a little bit on the stiff side even with the adjustment screw all the way out. It's a step up from the Cougar that's for sure!
  9. I know it does not use pots but this time round they might have skimmed on the switches part and the freaken things break off in your hand or stop working after three flips etc etc :D TM does NOT have a good track record and like you, I will wait for the reviews from the normal users and not the testers/fanboy/baised crowd at this stage.
  10. Everyone who used the Cougar before launch (read fanboys) said the same thing after the pot problems on the F22. I'm not convinced yet. I'm sorted atm so I'll give this one a little time before I decide if I will get a Warthog.
  11. Lets get real!! TM does not have a good track record with their products! I owned from the old hotas (F4 stick I believe) through the F22 to the Cougar. Except the first one all of them had pot problems and needed work to get them 100% Once that was done, yes the sticks were good. With my Cougar however I never even bothered to use the mini joystick as it was problematic from day one. The Warthing looks nice but I'll hang back on this one for now. I bought the X-65F and is pretty chaffed with it sofar.
  12. How's this for a conspiracy theory :music_whistling::music_whistling: The would not fix it till well after the Warthog and A10 module is released.
  13. 99% sure this will never happen.
  14. I believe since the days of the SU25T this was the case already. Maybe not EVERY round but it did get lighter as you fire the cannon.

  16. Well, it might be a gameplay issue yes. It is a study sim however and engine and system management is pretty high up on the priority list to get you to and back from your mission. It could be a function that can be disabled for those that do not want to scrub a mission because some system failed. Killing a tank somewhere in no mans land is not just about bushing a button. 80% of the time I fly BS is just to get the thing started, flying a few circuits and do precision landings. To include normal wear and tear will just take it to the next level.
  17. Well, I will be happy if damage/failures are saved with your aircraft, ie if you have a failed HSI or other instrument, it remains failed in subsequent flights until you decide to fix it. Engines will degrade if you run them hot over time etc etc. Pretty much what Leonardo SH is doing with the Maddog 2010 in FS2004. The failure module is thus part of just running the game and not something failed or randomly failed by the mission designer. Of course it could be set mutually exlusive so the user can decide to switch it off and use the old method to test/play with failures also. So in short: Your aircraft accumulates 'hours' over time Things break because of normal wear and tear and abuse and remains broken until 'fixed' by the user. Engine management, including hotstarts becomes crucial. This on top of the combat sim would make it the ultimate simulation. :D
  18. Guys flying an airplane is very easy, it's actually easier in real life than on your PC. It's the little things like takeoff, landing and when things break that makes it a tad above your normal Joe Soap off the street ability. Luckily it's a simulator where nobody gets killed when you do f*(k it up. So I would venture that for point A -> point B flying, if you can manage the A10 in FC then you would be alright. If you going to try some advanced aerobatics of the bat then she'll bite you though :D
  19. Tried to run BS without the DVD and it worked :D so I actually tested this. It does not work if you lock the two throttles together but if you unlock it and only use the left throttle the cyclic will work.
  20. I can confirm that the X-65F throttle works in FC2 when used as one axis to control both engines. It does not work if you try to control each engine individually. I have not tried it in BS since my DVD is packed away and we are moving shortly. Will try it out at the new house. I hope they fix this problem before the A10 is released as the engine start procedure pretty much make use of each axis on it's own.
  21. Cockpits are noisy places. I fly turboprops and boy oh boy, noise canceling headsets are godsend. No idea about fighters but this video sure give you an indication. http://vholdr.com/video/lap-around-boat
  22. Nope, the HSI will give you magnetic, not true, thus deviation not an issue for the pilot. If you look at 270 on your HSI you will know immediately where magnetic west is. Donno if the hog has a mag/true switch since it's only really needed flying close to the poles. The FAC on the ground looking at a paper map is the one that needs to worry about deviation, not the pilot flying overhead.
  23. ya well, the physics calculations for those body parts are immense, not too mention the detailed models of all the weapons :P :P :P
  24. Is this SAtigermoth by any chance cornell on avcom?!? :music_whistling: This is a fling wing oke, not a Tigermoth :P Good to see we are getting some exposure here 8)
