F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod
TKhaos replied to Nightstorm's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Technically it's not really solely FC 2024 fault, all the folder structures have changed and ED have apparently made changes to some of the files that third party mods relied on. Some people are running the previous version so they still got the mods working, after the last patch things changed so regardless of FC 2024 it's still affecting people. DCS Stand-alone through ED is good people can still choose not to upgrade to the latest patch, not so easy with Steam unless you have auto update disabled from day one. If people are upgrading from FC3 to FC 2024 it's worth doing now as the sale ends either today or tomorrow. If Grinnelli and the other guy aren't planning on updating anything it's a shame, hopefully someone else will come forward and create a fix for the F-22 and F-15EX. If nothing else ED have alienated and annoyed a large number of there customers, especially by trashing 90% of third party mods and then the Razbam issues. -

Sort of, hoping for a fix but think most are waiting for the next patch as there's no point in fixing something until they know what direction ED are taking. You can still use the workaround and stay in cockpit view, but it handles like a bag of spanners with flaps fully down, gear down and half the time no active guns I hope they do fix it as the F-15EX is one of my favourite third party mods. If I had more time I would look at it myself but too busy with work at the moment, plus haven't done anything design wise with DCS so would need to find everything, only thing I have done is a multi monitor lua so I can use my second monitor for targeting displays. -
F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod

This is a post I previous did. As far as I'm aware there have been no further attempts to fix VSN aircraft and several other non VSN. The only one that was affected that I know is now working is the Su-57 Felon by CubanAce as they have a standalone version which doesn't rely on any DCS files. I use the Grinnelli Designs F-22A Raptor and that does exactly the same as the VSN one. All the other standalones that don't rely on DCS files like the A-4E-C Skyhawk, UH-60L Blackhawk, Hercule by Anubis, OH-6A Littlebird all work fine. -
Might be able to create some new files based on the old ones, renamed as yours then create another 'lua' that points to those files within the h60PilotTextures.zip if you compare the 'Pilot Green Camo' and 'Pilot Desert Camo' lua files thats's basically what it does. So textures get saved alongside the originals in the zip and probably have to edit another file as well so it shows up in the list to be selected but not sure what one that is yet, just got home after 18 hours at work
-
If you go into your Blackhawk folder in Saved games, go to Textures/Cockpit and there's a zip file called h60PilotTextures.zip which I think is all the textures for the pilots. There are several selectable options in the setup though on missions, about four different colour uniforms. If you look in the Liveries folder as well under UH-60L it's got some 'Lua' files such as 'Pilot Green Camo' which will give you an idea of maybe adding some new textures/colours to the exisiting files. I'm just guessing this is what you would need, not done any design for DCS, last stuff was MIcrosoft FSX for flight sims
-
In that case then the answer is probably no unless someone has created a mod that removes it, or gives the option to remove it. I just had a look on mine, don't normally fly from co-pilot's seat but see what you mean about it being so bulky. I tried it in the Bristows version which is civilian and it's in there as well. Maybe ED can add that option at some point.

There is no direct AMD equivalent to DLAA, although some people have created mods for FSRAA but not sure what games they are for. For me the reason I leave DCS based FSR disabled is because I get much better visual results with MSAA and do any tweaking in the Adrenaline software. It's how a system is set up that counts really, you say MSAA 4x is rubbish and yet I get good results with it, better than any other settings. End of the day you can have two identical systems that behave completely differently for any number of factors. Good example of that is Sharpness, leaving the default in DCS and default in Adrenaline, which is 70% is horrendous, that's why I have it enabled but only at 20%. It's pointless comparing Nvidia and AMD as they both use totally different technologies that use different methods to achieve and end result. I've included the settings I use in game, only thing that's different is I changed Canopy Reflections to 0.65 I think. I also sometimes use 2 screens from a 'lua' file I did so targetting screens appear on my 1920x1080 monitor. You can lower things like Preload Radius, LOD Switch Factor and just have a general play around with what suits you. The same with Adrenaline, might take a bit of tweaking and find you get better results with things like Anti-Alising, dropping it to Multi-Sampling to free things up a bit. If you want to make it look better in general you could also use ReShade, it has pre-selectable profiles or you can create your own, plus there's probably a few profiles to download in the User Files section of DCS. https://reshade.me/

I don't even bother using FSR on my 1440p monitor, just max everything out. FSR increases the frame rate anyway, the times I did try it in DCS I never upscaled very much. The only problem I ever had with it was some ghosting on the wheel just after taking off. If it's giving better results than your Nvidia card and causing no real issues just leave it enabled. You might find using the AMD Adrenaline software and setting a profile for DCS better. I set mine to quality then basically just enable otyher stuff. I leave sharpness at default or just below in DCS. In Adrenline I've got the following set, after setting it to the Quality Profile: Everything else is left at default. On top of that I activate Custom Colours to give better colour in game but the settings for that will depend on how you got the monitor colour set up so a bit of trial and error, you can play with it in game by pressing the hotkey and opening the software so you can see it in real time. It's Alt + R but can be changed under Settings, Hotkeys as Open Fullscreen.

New DCS Rig Advice (non-VR) - casual gamer!
TKhaos replied to ILoveRice's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I mis-read this, I thought you were asking if your system was okay to run it, now looks like it's actually a new build so will post something I did last week. -
Just in case anyone isn't aware of this website and wants to build some decent missions but doesn't have time to sit for hours creating them. You can always create missions and campaigns with this then make alterations in Mission Editor if needed. https://dcs-briefingroom.com/

NVME2 Gen 5 - Windows or DCS?
TKhaos replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yeah I normally research and decide based on knowledge and years in the business. I've advised clients before to drop to down to a certain processor because the extra £50 isn't justified for the gain you get by having the latest model, bit like I always advise if someone wants Nvidia and nothing else getting the RTX 4080 over the RTX 4090 at half the price. I know what you mean though they like to dangle the carrot because often you will end up buying a load of stuff you didn't really need. If people give me a budget for a system build I will stick to it or try to get under it but also suggest alterations to what they want which will give them more value for money. -

That should be fine for what you want to do, it's meets all the recommended requirements. -
NVME2 Gen 5 - Windows or DCS?
TKhaos replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
No, I was refering to the OP Gen 4/5 question. I've got the Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink PCIe 4.0, they do the 990 as a Gen 5 but it's an EVO not a PRO and is slower than my PRO which is why I never bothered changing to it, the one I've got does me fine. When I do upgrade if Samsung haven't got anything decent out I will go for something similar to yours. I like the T705 its fast and used Crucial stuff since the 80's but probably be later in the year before another upgrade. The Sabrent Rocket 5 is impressively fast and around the same price as the T705 but then it's so fast you really need to fit a heatsink and fan to it because it produces so much heat. I never really understand people that spend a hugh amount on hardware then won't spend an extra little bit getting something better. I just built a system for someone and I suggested they spend an extra £30 for the next CPU up but they didn't want too I've had all SSD's in mine for years, when they first came out I had one as my main drive and kept the 4 HDD for other stuff, then over time I just replaced the whole lot and use the HDD as backup drives. There is a setting in Samsung Magician to make full use of the drive, little bit off putting though when you click on it and the first thing is displays is a box saying it will void the warranty -
NVME2 Gen 5 - Windows or DCS?
TKhaos replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use my Samsung 990 PRO exclusively for DCS, normally I would have used the 980 as another gaming drive but chose Windows as I do a lot of video/audio/image editing with large files. All my other gaming stuff runs off SSD's and never have any issues. -
If it's an authorisation issue then DCS have had problems in the last few days and fixed it, but then it broke again for some people. The other cause was by AV software that quarantined various files or blocked connections, with Malwarebytes and McAfee being the biggest culprits. Can do this to bypass the new launcher if you think that's the problem:

NVME2 Gen 5 - Windows or DCS?
TKhaos replied to Mr_sukebe's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
DCS on the Gen 5 and Windows on the Gen 4 is what I would personally do, they are the same drives I have got with an additional 5 SSD. Windows still runs fine on HDD and SSD so no problem on a Gen 4 PCIE NVME. -
There's a switch on the side of the gunsights for the power and and handle on the front for moving it up and down, so it you don't want it just stow it away. There's keybindings as well, just look for Gunsight in the settings and you can operate pilot and co-pilot sights, can't remember the default keys as I use my HOTAS. That way you can still have everything such as door gunners and the front sights are stowed away. This should give you the default commands: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/93212-dcs-world-keyboard-charts/ and this might be helpful in general: https://chucksguides.com/aircraft/dcs/uh-1h/

Probably got something to do with this: Have a look at your Anti Virus and see if it's blocking anything, it's normally a common cause for 'couldn't resolve host name' and if it is unblock it. You could also try disabling your AV briefly while they files download, then reactive it once it's installed. Also if you right click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator the either type this or copy and paste this into the black box: ipconfig /flushdns That will flush your DNS out.

They got 64GB of memory which is more than enough for DCS. The pagefile doesn't have to be that big and is better managed by Windows, mine is only 6.2GB at present. If you are referring to GPU memory then 8GB is fine for that as well and what is recomended as the minimum.

I've got this myself, especially in the F-15C and normally it whites out on loading and clears after maybe 20 seconds, sometimes quicker. Yesterday as I was flying the F-15C it went completely to the point I could only see out a tiny bit of window level with the side of my seat. Only started after the latest patch and my graphics drivers just updated so not that and my dcs log is clear. At first I thought it was just a glitch while everything was loading but then only seems to happen with me to FC aircraft and not all of them. My F/A-18C is fine and the A-10C II. It's also the same with or without mods.

Where is the J11 module after the new update?
TKhaos replied to Chief_Biv's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
DCS removed all FC3 related folders on my system and replaced them as individual aircraft in my main mods folder, everything FC3 related was removed without any input from me. Maybe true of the registry, having just looked at a previous registry backup file all the references were to DCS and only FC3 files that I had opened. Although for the original A-10C Warthog it's saved different things. -
There seems to have been two separate authorisation issues causing more or less the same problems at the same time recently. For some people, Malwarebytes and McAfee were putting files into quarantine and causing authorisation issues and aircraft disappearing. Then of course not everyone uses those products which is where the other issue came in and that problem was on ED's side, which they identified and were working on. I suspect that the ED problem affected you more as that would have caused issues regardless of what build you are running. It does seem recently that DCS has had more issues than normal, maybe it should have been suspected when they released an update saying the latest patch had been delayed to multiple issues then a week later it's pushed out. Personally I would have sooner waited an extra week or two and not had all the headaches it's caused and it seems one thing gets fixed and another 10 issues are created. Malwarebytes caused more problems than most this time round, for those that use it. Normally it will flag one or two files then whitelist them 12/24 hours later, this time it was back and forth which you have to ask why. Thousands of people submit files daily for manual examination if they still consider it a risk, a very small percentage of these get added back to the blacklist after manual examination.

Where is the J11 module after the new update?
TKhaos replied to Chief_Biv's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
I would just do as draconus suggested and leave everything as is and let DCS sort it out. It's not just about removing folders and files you also have registry entires pointing to things. If you are upgrading to FC 2024 from FC3 it's better to leave everything so it recognises you have it all to avoid any potential problems. -
It was but then some people have started having problems again. I still suspect it might be Malwarebytes if they haven't added the folders to the whitelist, it's acting really bizarre and McAfee. That is if they got either of them but worth checking AV. First day of the patch Malwarebytes flagged 4 files, added them to the whitelist 2 days later, the following day they were added back along with about 10 other DLL files, then the day after it rose to 18 files, the following morning all 18 were whitelisted then this morning it added back about 8 DLL files in all it's affected every FC3 aircraft by removing a single file. Just done a scan with Malwarebytes and came back clean

You need to change your monitor resolution, just click the cog on the top left and go to screen resolution, some monitors can be temperamental. If it's set at the correct setting, change it to something else then change it back. Either that or somehow it's set itself to display over more than one monitor, so check that's set to 1 as well if you got a single setup. The red number one is your module manager, so likely need to do something with a module.
