Need to be on the ground to open do the rearming loadout. Also engines need to be shutdown completely or it will go through the motions then tell you rearming failed. If you rearm with what you already had still save it as a loadout, there's a dropdown on the right side or you can do a new loadout and save that as well. A-10's are mainly ground attack and close air support so you don't get many options when it comes to air to air as the missiles aren't that great as you only got the Aim-9's and they only have a 10nm range on them so got to get pretty close in. Your better off not trying to engage fighters in an A-10, better off taking helicopters down. This video from Grim Reapers might be helpful

i wish there was a general FC sub forum...anywhoo
TKhaos replied to what_the's topic in Flaming Cliffs Bugs & Problems
You could just use the engine auto start command and let it do it all for you. Sometimes if I only got an hour to spare and fancy a quick flight I will either use autostart or start already in the air. LWin + Home to Auto Start and LWin + End for Auto Shutdown is the default binding. Not sure if it's on every aircraft but think it's on a lot of them. Failing that there are quite a few videos on YouTube and guides in the User Files section for doing quick starts. -
DCS World 2024 Screenshots and Video Thread

Not sure what the complaints were about, I got their aircraft back on the runway I'm guessing Rooster still doesn't trust me after what happened to his father -
no bug Need a way to start DCS from the launcher as administrator
TKhaos replied to jermin's topic in General Bugs
Personally I wouldn't give a game full admin rights but if you really have no other option, other than what I have already suggested to bypass the new launcher then the quick way to run it is as follows. Go to your main DCS folder, not the Saved Games one and look for DCSWorld/bin or bin-mt (highly recommend bin-mt so it's running in multi thread) Whichever folder you select locate the file DCS.exe and right click on it then select to create shortcut, after that copy the shortcut onto your desktop or where ever you want it. Next right click on the DCS.exe shortcut and select Properties then select Advanced. On the pop up window select Run as Administrator and click okay, then okay on the main window to close it. After that DCS should lauch with Admininstration priviliges via that shortcut. -

It's best to use something like Notepad ++ for this but you can just bypass the new launcher all together until it's sorted, you can disable it from within the launcher but need it to work first. You need to edit the Options.lua file, make a copy first. First go to 'your username\Saved Games\DCS\Config\' and find options.lua Next find the line ["launcher"] = true and change it to ["launcher"] = false (for me in Notepad ++ it's on line 137 but can search it anyway) Next save the file and launch DCS as normal and it will take you to the original login screen -

While that workaround does work many people have experienced problems with multiple things not working. The landing gear quite often stays down and you can't operate it via joystick keybindings or keyboard shortcuts so your stuck with it down. The flaps often don't work and are stuck in the fully down position and some people have issues with the trigger and/or launch weapon not working. For me personally I have had the landing gear and flaps problem on every aircraft using the workaround. Occasionally the flaps will retract but not often and as for the trigger 75% of the time that doesn't work or sometimes the trigger works and the launch weapon doesn't. Many people have reported the issue with the workaround as it makes the aircraft unflyable at times so ED have been asked for a proper fix.

Better off with the Anubis Super Hercules mod. More detailed, can use several stations and you can air drop cargo and troops.

F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod
TKhaos replied to Nightstorm's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Will have to try that, see if the landing gear is up on mine by starting in the air instead of ramp or runway. As for the missiles I did one last night and fired it at something that was locked about the 11 o'clock postion and it came off the rail and disappeared over toward the 3 o'clock position and there was nothing over that way -
F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod
TKhaos replied to Nightstorm's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
While that makes the aircraft flyable, or at least showing up in a majority of cases the landing gear fails to work, regardless of if you use joystick or keyboard and the flaps don't work, 99% of the times I've used it the flaps are jammed fully down and the landing gear doesn't operate. Many people have also reported that the trigger doesn't work when using the workaround, for me it's 50/50 and sometimes the trigger will work but weapon release won't launch anything, so as Rooster says 'then it's a dogfight' which is fine until you try flying a potato with the flaps and landing gear fully down -
Computer spec recommendation please.
TKhaos replied to Lee1's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Power Supplies Personally I would suggest a 1000w PSU, while some 4090’s are fine with 850w the one’s that are factory overclocked require a 1000w supply. Also you need to consider the 12v rail and it’s amperage, also it’s better to get single rail rather than dual or multiple rail. I would personally recommend a Corsair RM1000x, it’s a fully modular 80+ Gold standard with 83.3 A on the 12v rail. Alternatively, a little bit more expensive you got the Corsair Hxi 1000w 80+ Platinum ATX 3.0 fully modular PCIE5 power supply. Both PSU’s come with a 10 year warranty. Graphics Cards That’s being said about the 4090’s personally I wouldn’t bother, I have found many of the AMD GPU’s to be better. I used Nvidia for over 25 years but switched to AMD and not looked back. I do extensive research into cards and benchmarking before buying anything. AMD gives more value for money. Personally I’ve found the RX 7900 XTX to be a good card and it’s literally half the price of the RTX 4090. If you want to go for Nvidia and nothing else I would suggest the RTX 4080, again half the price of the RTX 4090 so around the same as the AMD card. RTX 4090’s are known to encounter CPU bottlenecks running them at 1440p, even more so at 1080p so would really need to be running 4k. Don’t believe all you read either, my spare system which I use for work stuff now has a Ryzen 7 5700x in it with a AMD RX 6650 XT and benchmarked faster than a lot of much higher end systems with everything set at factory. CPU Personally again, I started with Intel back in the 80’s, switched to AMD late 80’s and wasn’t that impressed so switched back to Intel. I switched back to AMD maybe 10 years ago because Intel change sockets more often than most people change their underwear and I was getting sick of every time I needed or wanted a new CPU I would have to replace the motherboard as well. I had an i5 years ago, only two years old and fried but then socket had already moved up a couple of stages by then so no updated i5 would work in it and it was near impossible to buy the earlier models. Rarely get that problem with AMD, in fact my new motherboard from a system I build last year supports every Ryzen 5, 7 and 9 there is. You can get some really good deals on AM4 boards at the moment or as it’s a new build you could build an AM5 system, although AM5 CPU’s, AM5 boards and DDR5 memory are a lot more expensive. The CPU I would highly recommend for a AM4 build would be a AMD 7 7800X3D or AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, both of which beat the Intel i9-14900K, Intel i7-14700K and Intel i9-13900K in benchmarks. If you go for a AM5 system one of the best CPU’s is the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, a lot of the 7 series are faster than the 9 series and cheaper. If you wanted to go for a 9 series the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X and AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D are around the same price but personally I would stick to 7 series. If you wanted to go the Intel route then Intel i9-14900K and Intel i7-14700K are decent choices but like GPU’s a lot more expensive than the AMD equivalent. Motherboards Personal choice really depending on what you want and need, for years Gigabyte was top quality but in recent years there has been quality control issues, the same with Asus boards. Despite some people not liking them MSI make some decent boards, I’ve been using them for 40ish years and never had a problem with them, the X570 board in my spare system is around 7 years old and still working fine. If you go for an AM4 build I can highly recommend the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk board, a lot of the features on it are normally only found on the X570 chipset boards. For AM5 builds the MSI B650 and MSI X670 boards are good. But like I say it’s personal choice, some people don’t like MSI and will recommend others. CPU Coolers Personally I’ve used Corsair, Coolermaster, Antec over the years and never had an issue but my go to cooler these days is Noctua. I actually use the Noctua NH-U12S REDUX cooler, it’s the cheaper version of the NH-U12S but moves twice as much air, plus you can fit a second fan to most of them. Memory Again this depends, I’ve never had any issues with G.Skill, Kingston, Crucial or Corsair memory and price will depend on the build, so either be DDR4 or DDR5. I would recommend at least 32GB of ram, currently DCS on mine uses about 30GB but it’s nice to have that little bit extra if you can stretch to 64GB. Storage SSD is a definite requirement. If you are going to SSD I highly recommend the Samsung 870 EVO SSD to use as a base drive for OS and normal use, it’s fast enough to run DCS off as well and you can get sizes up to 8TB. My recommendation would be something like a Samsung 870 EVO as the main drive then install a Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe to run DCS off of like I have. Depending on what board you buy, if it supports PCIe 5.0 Samsung do a 990 EVO although it’s read/write aren’t as fast as the PCIe 4.0 990 PRO. Cases I highly recommend Antec cases, I’ve still got a gaming one from 2007 going strong, that's used for my backup system I currently use a Antec DF700. -
Heavy Rain is truely horrifying now (2.9.6)
TKhaos replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in Clouds & Weather System
Rain shouldn't be that bad, especially at night will have to look on mine later see how bad it is. In real life the canopy is treated with chemical rain repellant, more potent version of RainX that you can buy for a car so it should be beading up, not pouring down the window like your at home watching a thunderstorm out the window. That's effective at low speed and higher speeds it literally just gets pushed off. Only thing that really irritates me with the rain in DCS is in helicopters, I'm sat in heavy rain in my Huey and the rain is large raindrops and the wipers do nothing, just seem to float over it and the raindrops are still there. -
One of my favourite aircraft, I would be happy with a Tempest, Hurricane and Lancaster to go alongside my Spitfire

Helmet display offset to left of line of sight
TKhaos replied to SKYWARRIOR's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think it you go into settings and select the Special tab on some of the aircraft you can set it to left, right or both. I might be thinking of something different but sure it's the helmet display. Needs to be done in the settings from the main menu. -
Not tried this myself yet but there's a wet deck mod for Supercarrier that looks pretty similar to the picture. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3309916/

I've had issues with the work around, many others have as well and it's mostly the F-15C cockpit that's causing the issues. While the workaround works and makes the plane flyable the landing gear ceases to work for any key bindings on both joystick and keyboard so its stuck down. I've also had the same isues with the flaps not working at all, other people have reported the trigger no longer works so can't actually fire any weapon. Hopefully either ED gets it sorted soon or they third party mods get an update, I really miss flying the MIrage 2000 from VSN and the F-15EX by Spino. I've found some of the AG variants from VSN that use the A-10A and SU-25 cockpit avionics works fine. The VSN F-16A (C52) had four variants it, the F-16A, F-16A MLU and F-16A BL50 no longer work but the F-16A BL52D still works fine

Unofficial mod not working since the last update
TKhaos replied to waliburnsilenzio's topic in DCS Modding
Fully Working A-4E C Skyhawk (Community Mod) OV-10 Bronco works fine Panavia Tornado by VSN (both GR4 and IDS) Anubis Hercules C-130 Helicopters OH-6A UH-60L Blackhawk MH-60R (built off the UH-60L package) Semi Working Includes The VSN F-16A (C52) the F-16A, F-16A MLU and F-16A BL50 no longer work but the F-16A BL52D still works fine as it uses a different cockpit. The VSN F/A-18F is mixed, the normal F/A-18F no longer works but the F/A-18F AG works fine. The MQ-9 Predator Drone sort of works, flies but the hud is missing so can't really do much with it. The workaround of loading the F-15C from FC sort of works, load a mission, come out of it then load the mods as normal and they generally work. However saying that some of the functions fail, for me it was landing gear won't operate off HOTAS or keyboard, flaps don't work and some people have had trigger problems. Thats the offical page with all the links for the A-4E C -
F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod

JAS 39C Gripen Community Mod
TKhaos replied to whisky.actual's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Yeah mine was all pre update, was last year I noticed it. I did a mission and was supposed to launch with a Harrier off the carrier and it wasn't there so just dropped into the sea, then tried it with the F/A-18 and did the same and there was no carriers anywhere to be seen in any of my missions. I never really noticed before because most of my stuff was land based then I got the F/A-18 followed by Supercarrier as I thought that would fix it- 488 replies

Theres a key binding called 'Toggle Tracking Launched Weapons' and the default key is 'RCtrl + Num+' and when activated as soon as you fire a weapon it switches cameras and follows the weapon off the rail until it reaches the target. It will keep doing that until you press it again to deactivate it. I've found it useful but in situations where you got multiple targets all close it can be a pain as you need to be back in the cockpit to lock on to the next and fire. I'm pretty sure it works in playback using the 'Watch Track' function so if you wanted to make videos that might be the better way to go. I have used it against four aircraft at once but then I have remapped it to a key on my Hotas stick so I can flick back and fourth.

I had issues with the F-15EX and F-22A Raptor launching the AIM-120D3 sometimes, not sure if it was speed related as never took much notice of that, either took repeated clicks to launch or just went off where ever it felt like and normally no where near where the lock was, although some of that could have been down to me
